The Beginning of Our Demise

"Your devotion is nothing more than cowardice. You would not be here if you had anywhere else to go."
— Voldemort

“So… Were you the one to actually do it?” Mina dragged me off to the side just as soon as I had stepped foot on the ground

I had almost lost my balance and fell down ungracefully, might I add. I narrowly avoided being face planted on the ground and then Mina quietly whispered into my ears.

“So did you actually do it?”
“Maybe or maybe not. Who knows who did it?” I shrugged my shoulders off coolly, “For all we know, it could have been the invisible girl. Then again a magician never reveals their secrets.”

Before Mina could start saying anything, I grabbed her hand quickly and started making our way toward the group where there stood a peculiar creature. I had never seen anything like it before, they seemed short and rather big with its head taking a somewhat helmet look and being very suken. It had 2 large white pupils, taking up most of the space on it's face and I seemed to shiver at it. It was definitely weird looking but somewhat interesting, I for sure would not consider this thing to be at the very least human. ‘I mean how could it? I have never seen anything crazier in my life, I mean not exactly the fact that heroes must wear costumes seems absurd and very childish.’

Realizing that I was beginning to get caught up in my train of thoughts, I quickly cut it out and began to listen to what the very strange creature was announcing, “We have been expecting you.”

‘Salazar! It's human and it's a girl! Who would have guessed?!’ I was astonished and in disbelief. Although her voice was very disoriented and changed to fit a man. I could still tell that she was in fact a girl, call it intuition or whatever there was no doubt in my mind that she's a girl.

“I love No. 13!” Uraraka began to jump around in excitement as she fist bumped the air

‘No. 13, huh?’ I shrugged, that was certainly a very interesting hero name to give yourself. Midoriya looked like he was going to cry out of joy as his eyes widened so much and he silently screeched. ‘What a fanboy…’ I chuckled internally, certainly everyone was excited as they watched in all her glory the weird creature and whispered around their excitement. The sound of chatter soon drowned out whatever else the weird looking hero was going to say, an

“Let's go inside.” The pro hero said as Aizawa-sensei told everyone to shut up and listen
“Thank you very much everyone!” We all responded back to the pro hero

We made our way inside the gigantic dome building and with each step up the stairs leading towards the entrance of the area. The adrenalin from the excitement began its course through my body but along with that came some anxiety. It wasn’t something I could shake off either, it was like my gut was trying to tell me that something was off and to run the Hell away from here. Normally I would have listened to my instinct but if I did that then that would be suspicious and that wouldn’t be good, now would it?

So despite however every sense in me was telling me don't go in there I proceeded anyway, not without caution though. The anxiety rose in the first place as I had felt something uncomfortable, I was being watched and I'm sure of it. Someone, maybe from this class or even the teachers was staring right at my back. I turned around with disgust, already expecting to see the purple bastard staring right at my… When I couldn't spot him, that's when I turned back to face front and spotted him following closely behind the ponytailed girl, trying to see if he could sneak a peek at any of her unmentionables.

‘Oh Merlin, whatever is ahead of us won't end well. The training that No. 13 and Aizawa-sensei has set up will be cruel and show no mercy to us. This is going to be a long day.’ I tried to shake off my anxiety but my emotions would just not cooperate and so I sighed and just filled my thoughts with random things hoping to remove those negative thoughts from my mind at least for now.

Taking a deep breath, I focused on what was in front of me. The architecture of the building was quite curious, the area was deeply sunken and we stood high upon a platform with a magenta carpet just beneath our feet. There was a blue sort of entrance banner that loomed over our heads and quite a large staircase leading us down to the actual area. It was truly amazing I must admit and to add to that the area looked like the perfect playground for a hero.

My eyes were drawn to the outermost left side of the area, there stood an actual mountain that towered all the other areas making it look weak and small in comparison to it. It was a brownish-gray color and below it was surrounded by a beautiful forest. Then the area right beside us stood what looked like ruins of a city. Truly remarkable indeed, but in the center of it all was anti-climatic. I had expected to find something like the largest attraction to the area but no, it was just a plain old fountain, nothing special there.

“Wow!” Midoriya resumed his fanboying actions right away, starting to mumble incoherent words that really no matter how you tried to understand him could not for the life of me make sense whatsoever.
“Yo! Is this Universal Studios?! Dude this is so awesome!” Kaminari awed though I didn't get it, what's Universal Studios?
No. 13 faced her back towards us and with outstretched arms began giving an oh so inspiring speech, “Shipwrecks, landslides, fires, storms, and much more… I built this training center to prepare for any accident and disaster that may occur. I called this place the Ultimate Simulation Joint or USJ for short!” She pointed and named all the areas around us with great pride and then suddenly, everyone's eyes shrunk.

‘This is all confusing, why did everyone just go silent and awkward after she announced this was USJ. Humans are a bit complicated, huh?’ I groaned. After that Aizawa-sensei went up to No.13 and whispered something to her. I wasn’t nearly close enough to eavesdrop on whatever they were talking about, so I turned towards Mina who was just a few people down from where I stood. She looked like she was going to absolutely burst from excitement to which I gave a small smile and for a second the feeling of anxiety all wrapped up in my heart faded away, remembering that whatever happens during this training. I was not alone and that I had my classmates that I could rely on.

“Before we start, I would like to say a thing or two or three or four or five or six…”

‘It's increasing way too much.’ I scoffed, a bit annoyed

“Get on with it please.” Aizawa-sensei interrupted her
“Yes, of course… So as you all may know, my quirk is called, Black Hole. I can suck in anything and turn it into ash.” No. 13 said with a voice that was a devoid of any emotions
“With that quirk, you can help people from any disasters, right?!” Midoriya cut in excitedly, his eyes practically shining in admiration
“Yes…” The hero replied back to him, “But it's also a power that can easily kill people.”
“Huh?” Most of the class gasped at her statement, bewildered how she could even say that when her quirk has saved thousands of people.
“I’m sure some of you are the same too. In this superhuman society, quirks are certified and strictly monitored, so that it may seem organized. But please remember that each of you have quirks that can easily kill someone with one mistake if you're not careful enough. In Aizawa's physical test, you saw your own power's potential. In All Might's battle training, you saw the dangers of those powers being used against people…” She took a minute to pause and collect herself then suddenly her voice became more cheery, “This lesson will be different however. In here, we'll learn how to use your quirks for the good of all other people. In here I'll teach you how to rescue them from dangerous situations. I want you to be able to go home after today, knowing that your powers exist not to hurt others, but to save them. That will be all, thank you for listening.” She took a deep bow and outstretched her left hand while she kept her right across her chest.

‘I won't lie, those were very inspiring words…’

“Wonderful!”
“Bravo! Bravo!”
“Woah! That was so manly!”

Everyone began to yell out cheers at her inspiring words and I could help but also join in with them. They surely had a lot of optimism in this class.

“Quiet down now. So first, we will-” Aizawa was cut off mid sentence

The light revolving the entire dome suddenly went out as electricity bolts went insane inside the building. ‘What the Bloody Hell is going on!’ The feeling of dread erupted in my stomach and I slightly regretted not leaving the premises the moment my gut told me to run. All my emotions earlier hit me back in full actions and alarm bells were ringing inside my head. The fountain in the middle area began to malfunction and I could hear gasps of fear from my classmates. This was certainly not how I expected today to go. Then a deep purple color began to swirl in front of the fountain, growing larger and larger until it looked like it'd be able to fit a 10 feet tall person.

Turning to look towards my teachers, No. 13 definitely looked shocked but guarded readying herself for whatever was going to happen. Meanwhile, Aizawa-sensei's dry eyes widened and quickly turned his back to look at whatever was going on. Mina from beside me, grabbed my hand and squeezed it tight in slight fear.

“This is all just a part of the training today isn't it?” She asked me, her voice shaky
“No, I don't think so…” I replied, a million red flags and questions running through my mind

A very pale hand came out eerily of the mysterious purple swirl, the person then took it out and popped out his head out of the hole he created. It revealed to be a man with tired dry and red colored eyes with a measy power blue hair, but what freaked out everyone the most was how there was a white hand covering his entire face giving him a more villainous look than he already had. I could only wonder if the hand on his face was served off on one of his victims…

“Stay in one group!” Aizawa turned to us and yelled, “No.13, protect the students!”
“What is that?” Kirishima, asked in confusion

The man from earlier walked out of the ever growing mysterious purple swirl which was starting to resemble more like a black hole. He had a simple all black outfit with more hands wrapping around his body, at least 3 on his arms and 2 more on his shoulders. Behind him crept out more villains all looking more strange and creepy than the last ones. Back in our class however, dread filled us to the brim and we had held onto the hope that this was only part of the training set up today, but in our hearts we knew that wasn't the case.

“Is this like the entrance exam? Has it started already?” Kirishima asked again while trying to see what’s going on down there
“Don't move!” Aizawa yelled out to Midoriya as he moved from his spot to get a better look and then he put on his yellow protective goggles, “Those are real villains.” Everyone gasped in shock and tried to let what he said fully sink in

More and more villains came out of the purple hole during this, then suddenly what seemed to be the last villain came out. It was incredibly buff and looked around to be the same height and built as All Might, however it's head resembled that of a bird. Its entire body was a deep purple color except for its lips which were a dirty yellow, with its brain and muscles surrounding it exposed, it had a permanent erie outstretched smile that revealed its razor sharp teeth like a shark. Then the purple swirl which I realized was a portal transformed its shape to that slightly similar to a human, it was even taller and bigger than the bird brain creature with long yellow slits for eyes.

Aizawa-sensei then said something that creeped everyone out, “So they're the ones who broke in the other day.”

All the less important looking villains made their way forwards, towards us… Leaving only 3 people behind, the portal, the hand man, and the bird brain creature. Aizawa-sensei suddenly sprung into action, the long black hair flowing messily in the air while the gray scarves around his neck looked as if it came to life, floating around the air with a deadly aura to it. Everyone internally began to panic, wondering what was going to happen next, it was pure chaos.

“What?! Villains?! Are they dumb or something? They're stupid to break into a hero school!” Kirishima once again yelled into the air
“Sensei, isn't there a trespassing sensor?” Yaoyorozou stepped up and asked No. 13
“Of course, we have them…”
Todoroki spoke up, “Did the villains only appear here, or is the entire school under attack? Either way, they must have someone who can send them in without being caught by the alarm. In a building far from school, right when a class is in session… They're fools for sure, but they are not dumb… There is a motive to this carefully planned attack.”
I answered Todoroki's question, “It's definitely the purple portal… It's his quirk that's able to get them in and out of here undetected.”
“No. 13, start evacuating the students. Call the school. They were prepared for the sensors, so they may interfere with the signal.” Aizawa jumped in and walked forward observing the situation down below, “Kaminari, use your quirk to make a call.”
“Sure…” Kaminari held his hand to his ear and did what sensei asked of him I presumed
In worry of the situation Midoriya spoke up for sensei, “Will you fight all by yourself, sensei? Even if you can erase their quirks… Eraser Head's fighting method is to erase their enemies' quirks then capture them. Close combat is…” Midoriya trailed off
“Heroes need more than one trick up their sleeves; if not then they'll easily be defeated.” Aizawa answered Midoriya as to alleviate his worries, “Take care of them No. 13.” He then jumped off the high platform to battle the villains and protect us.

Sensei began to battle all of the foe, taking them down easily one by one. Even though this was a battle he didn't excel in he was able to put up a pretty good fight. Back on the platform where our entire class stood, No. 13 instructed us to get the Hell out of the building so that sensei could concentrate on fighting and we wouldn't get in the way. Everyone followed her directions of course without any complaints, except Midoriya who was still stuck in his thoughts and watching how sensei was battling, muttering words under his breath.

“Midoriya, snap out of it!” I yelled at him as I realized we were missing a student
Iida who also realized that Midoriya wasn't following behind with us, “There's no time to analyze, we need to prioritize getting to safety and informing the school!
“Sorry!” The green haired boy apologized and ran after us

There was still quite a long way towards the entrance but if we were quick enough, we'd be able to get out of the way and to safety soon enough. Our fears increased however when the purple portal appeared on the ground near the entrance. Then it jumped out and transformed into his slightly human form.

“I won't let you get away! Nice to meet you all, we are the Villain League.” He spoke in a deep voice despite not having a mouth, “We've humbly let ourselves into U.A. High School… The nest for heroes! To have All Might, the Symbol of Peace, take his last ever breath!” The portal towered us and looked even bigger up close

Most of us trembled in fear, except of course Todoroki who stood besides me emotionless. We stood there in shock and disbelief at them. ‘Surely, they aren't stupid enough to think that they'll be able to defeat All Might. He's the No. 1 hero for crying out loud!’I thought in anger

“I heard that All Might was supposed to be here, but has there been a change of plans? No matter, besides that issue, this is what I came for…” Before he could continue No. 13 held up her pointer finger and prepared to use her quirk in our defense

However, in a moment of bravery though more like stupidity. Both Kirishima and Bakugo nodded at each other as though they had such a brilliant plan. Which was just to jump head straight on to the portal and attack him with everything they've got as they yelled out a battle scream. Bakugo, activating his quirk, sent out the biggest explosion he had made yet then sent out quickly small explosions in hope that it'd defeat the villain. Kirishima on the other hand hardened his fist and pounched onto the villain like a lion having found its prey. The smell of smoke filled the air and we were all covered in it thanks to Bakuhoe, of course.

“Did you think we wouldn’t destroy you first?” Kirishima said proudly as though they had already defeated him
I covered my eyes to protect it from all the smoke, “Oh, for bloody sake!”
“Are you alright?” Todoroki, who was coincidentally behind me asked as he grabbed onto my wrist.
“Oh yeah, everything is just positively perfect!” I replied sarcastically
“Dangerous, so dangerous…” The portal began to speak as the smoke dissipated, “Yes, although you're still students, you're the gifted golden eggs. The cream of the crops!”
“No! Move away, you two!” No. 13 panicked and yelled at them, already knowing the reason why this portal man came after us
“The reason I came here is to scatter you and beat you to death!” The man yelled out maniacally

The purple mist enveloped everyone quickly and easily, leaving no one forgotten. A strong and cold wind blew through us, threatening to blow us all away. However, we planted our feets and stood guard of whatever was going to happen next. ‘The school year just started and villains are already trying to slaughter us like a bunch of pigs! How delightful, truly!’

“What is…!” I could heard Kirishima yell but trail off

‘Damnit! What's going to happen to everyone now!’ I thought in a panic when I heard a bunch of thuds from my right side.

“(Y/n)!” Mina screamed out from somewhere in my left but I had no idea where though she sounded so close
“Mina!” I yelled back, then Todoroki pulled me to his side and blocked me from most of the strong wind since his arm was still on my wrist

I yelped in surprise and whimpered from how cold everyone was. Despite this, Todo-kun managed to block out most of the wind. I could still feel it as strong and cold as ever, plus being I behind his cold side added to that chilling feeling.

“Hold on, (L/n)!” He said with a determination in his voice
“Okay!” I responded, trusting him to keep me safe
“Everyone!” I heard a distant voice yell out, which I recognized to be Iida's

The next thing I knew was that before I could clearly process everything that was going on, I began to fall from a great height. ‘I need to disaparate!’ I thought to myself and began to concentrate as hard as I could. But it didn't work, the thought of plummeting to my death was all too much so I began to think of a spell that could save me from my demise.

Flashback

It was a dark gloomy afternoon and most of the students stayed inside for it was raining and they had classes. In the the third floor, on the Charms corridor, near another classroom sat a young (H/c) haired girl with a tired look on her face, next to her sat her group of friends who whispered and passed around some jokes before their professor arrived and class began.

“Good afternoon class, the charm that we’ll be learning today is quite useful and you’re required to learn it for your O.W.L.s in the future so you all better pay attention closely. This spell can also actually save you from a lot of life threatening so it’s also quite practical as well.” Our charms professor began, “Now the spell we’ll be learning is the Slowing Charm, let's begin with its history first and foremost. It was invented by Daisy Pennifold in 1711 for use on the Quaffle in Quidditch. This is a charm that can be used to slow the velocity of an object, it can also be used on multiple targets, as well as on the caster themselves. So say, if you're falling down from a great height, this charm can very well save your life. Now before anything let's practice the incantation, which is Arresto Momentum. Go on class, you may practice saying it.” Our professor finished with a wide smile

Flashback ends

“Arresto moment-” I yelled out quietly but stopped when somebody grabbed me by the waist and use their ice to get us down safely

Note:

The Slowing Charm (Arresto Momentum) is a spell used to slow the movement of an object. It is taught in second-year Charms class at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The name likely combines the Anglo-French "arester," meaning "to bring to a stop," and the Latin "momentum," meaning "the force or strength gained while moving." The literal translation is "bring its momentum to a stop."
