Rising From The Ashes

“Soon we must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy.”
— Albus Dumbledore

(Y/n)'s P.O.V.

From the day we were brought into this world, we were told that we’d be someone when the time came. We were told by them that we were special. We’re different. A higher being belonging somewhere far higher than the world that stands beneath my feet right now.

I was no different from how those children were treated. As blood is thicker than water. It is what binds me to where I cannot escape from. And yet I am here, taking in the refreshing scent of freedom and hope. Relief overtakes my soul and what was once fear in my system was filled to the brim with hope, excitement, and a sense of freedom. With the newfound opportunity, I get to find who I am and what I want. And nobody can say otherwise…

April had just begun, which meant that schools here in Japan had started. A dark yet comforting shadow loomed over me. Its presence towered over everyone who passed by. Yet no one was afraid of its intimidating aura. Instead, they felt invigorated by its presence.

Or maybe it was just me who had felt this way about this historical place. I stood straight and confident in front of the well-known and well-respected school. Eyes glistened in excitement, trying to roam everywhere and anywhere that managed to reach its line of sight.

“This is it.” I muttered to no one in particular, gripping the straps of my bag even tighter in nervousness. “This is my future.” I declared a fire burned into my eyes that were still yet to die out from the sea of humans surrounding me at an alarming speed.

There should be no wonder why students were coming in at an alarming rate. In around 10 minutes or so, classes would begin. And it’s not like anyone would want to be late on their first day of school. I decided it wasn’t worth it to be caught in the harsh sea of humans rushing to get to classes.

I quickened my pace and followed everyone else's movements, hurrying my way toward my assigned classroom. Grasping the map of the school that came with the acceptance letter. It wasn’t a really big map nor a complicated one. It was as small as a cute index card as what humans call it. The walkway towards the school was pretty long, giving the students and staff a good time to look over at the trees that surround the school’s premises. It was relaxing, to say the least.

The school’s actual building had 4 towers consisting mostly of windows so you could see and admire the soon-to-be heroes. There were skyway bridges that connected the 4 buildings together, making it look like an ‘H’. The school was practically shiny, new, and modern.

Not as though it hasn't been standing for decades now, home to the world’s greatest pro heroes and sidekicks out there (Or maybe they had undergone some renovations to the school after time degraded the old building). In fact, the number 1 hero of Japan at least, All Might, had graduated from here in the exact class I was put in or at least that’s what I heard.

The fact alone that Japan’s number 1 hero graduated here made itself known to people out there that this school only accepts people who have the actual potential and talents to become a hero, either that or they were born with privileges. Only the best of the best, I suppose. This also means that the fact alone, that I am enrolled here and was placed into class 1-A, of all classes means that I can do it, and become a hero. Someone great. Contrasting to what most people had told me.

I reached the entrance of the school and searched for my shoe locker. I sighed disappointedly and placed my bag on the floor, just beside me. My locker placement wasn’t exactly the most ideal placement as I would still need to crouch down in order to reach it as it was placed in the bottom left corner of all the lockers.

‘It isn’t ideal, but that’s fine. It’s not like it’s a big deal. Sure it’s a bit of a hassle to bend over just to switch your shoes, but it’s not like it’s the end of the world. It’s just a minor inconvenience.’ I convinced myself, trying to not get irritated or even more disappointed at the situation.

I quickly took off my outdoor shoes and pulled out the indoor ones from inside of the locker, switching up both of them. The shoes were just plain white, easy to stain if someone just stepped on them with their own shoe, whether that'd be the indoor or outdoor one. So one would need to be careful in order not to stain it.

Picking up my bag from the floor, lots of students began to surround me. They were frantically switching their outside shoes to their indoor ones. Seeing the urgency in their actions, I pulled out my phone from the pocket in my skirt.

My eyes widened at the time displayed on the strange but small rectangular box in my hand. It was almost time for classes to begin. Just 5 more minutes and we’d be officially late. Making haste, I jogged off quickly to 1-A’s classroom. I guess I took too long to figure out the train stations in coming to school. I didn’t anticipate this possibility to happen.

Shoving my phone into my bag, I took a sharp right turn and made my way up the stairs quickly, trying not to waste any more time than I already had wasted. I felt someone staring at me or following me from behind, turning my head back. I found the culprit to be a boy with unruly green hair that flew in every direction, who followed closely behind me. He looked like he was in a state of panic, making him look weak and vulnerable. His reason for being panicked was reasonable of course as we were just the same.

“Umm…! Excuse me? Can you tell me where Class 1-A’s classroom is? This place is too big and I think I’m l-lost…” An extremely shy and nervous voice called out, coming from the green-haired boy, speeding up his jog to catch up with me.
“Class 1-A? Oh! It seems like we're classmates! Don’t worry, just follow me and keep up. I memorized the map of the school already.” I turned my head to smile at him and give him my signature wink.
“T-Thank you!” His body went a bit stiff and his face became a harsh shade of red.
I quickened my pace, borderline running now, “Hey, slow down!” The boy shyly yelled at me, stumbling on himself and struggling to pick up his pace.
“Sorry, no can do! Classes are gonna start soon and if we don’t hurry up we’ll be late, so just hurry up!” Regaining complete control of his body, he appeared beside me in an instant, though still looking as embarrassed as ever.

We were now running toward our designated classroom. Almost running into other people who were rushing to their own classes, we muttered apologies and took no more time to look back at them and acknowledge their apologies as well.

You’d think it’d be rude but considering the fact that they did the same to us, it wasn’t. Soon not long after, a violent wave of students rushed in. Everyone was trying to get into their classes before they started.

A tall boy with blond hair and periwinkle blue eyes appeared out of a classroom. Slinging his bag over his shoulder, he dashed out of the classroom and headed my way, almost running into me fully, had I not dodged out of the way.

It didn’t matter though as he had still bumped into my shoulder. Whether or not it was on purpose or an accident was a complete mystery to me. I did move out of his way and yet he still managed to run into my left shoulder. So it most likely was done on purpose. But for what reason? I have no clue.

Since I didn’t expect that to happen, the sudden surprise took me aback, making me stumble, gravity working against me. Almost falling to the floor, my bottom first. The green-haired boy who watched the scene play out through the sidelines, immediately made a beeline, heading my way to check up on me.

“Watch where you're going, morons!” The blond boy insulted

Biting my tongue back from insulting him. I decided to act maturely, muttering an apology to him. ‘I don’t have time for this, I’m going to be late for classes!’ Thinking rationally, I turned around and grabbed the green-haired boy's wrist.

“What’s your name again? I didn’t quite catch it.” I asked, looking towards your classroom's door.
“Y-You didn’t ask for it… It's Midoriya Izuku.” Letting out a timid voice, he spoke quickly
“Alright, Midoriya-kun. We’re here.” I stopped running so suddenly that he almost bumped into my back, had I not let go of his wrist just moments prior.

Stopping in front of the door that would lead me to my desired future, I took a moment to take in everything and calm down. I was ecstatic, to say the least. An incredibly large sliding door towered over me with the words, 1-A in bold and bright red color engraved into it. This was the door that would lead me into my classroom. Loosening my tie a bit then straightening it back again.

I began to dust off any invisible particles on my uniform, letting out a deep breath and closing my eyes. I relaxed my face and calmed down my raging heartbeats of excitement. Opening my eyes which were filled to the brim with excitement and determination, I grabbed onto the door handle and slid it open.

I could feel the adrenaline pumping through my veins as my stomach felt like it was doing backflips and tying itself into knots, my heart started beating rapidly again. All my efforts to calm down from before we're wasted.

But that was only for that moment as the adrenaline quickly died away as I saw a blond, spikey-haired boy, laying his foot on his desk with a cocky expression. ‘Human form of the Malfoy family, I see. So there are still people who feel entitled to everything.’ I internally groaned at my thoughts.

"Get your feet off!" A boy with navy blue hair yelled as he dashed towards the blond boy, his arms flailing in the air like a robot, or at least what I think a robot would do.
"Nee~" The blond boy said with a huge smirk plastered on his face, clearly mocking the other boy
"Don't you feel bad for the U.A. alumnus and the maker of this chair?!" The four eyes yelled back at him, pointing at his entitled boy’s foot on the desk with his right hand and then with his left, doing what I think is a karate chop.
"No, I don't!" The blond boy yells back at the other man, causing the said man to widen his eyes in shock at how rude someone could be.

I smiled a bit, amused at the sight. I guess humans are not that different from us after all. Glad to see at least I’ve got that part covered and that I knew how to handle those types of people. Seems like this place is just a regular school, despite the fact that they teach their students how to become their own fantasy heroes.

Entering the room without Midoriya following behind me, I scanned the room for empty seats, one being behind the entitled blond human, the other next to a dual-haired boy. ‘I’ll take my chances with the boy who’s being quiet as of currently.’

“Well good luck, Midoriya. Seems like you’ll need it.” I said to him with a smile, quickly walking away and taking the seat next to the reserved boy.
“What do you mean by that?” He asked nervously, “Oh.” His face grew pale at the realization of what I had done, slightly feeling guilty yet at the same time no remorse, I gave him a sympathetic smile or at least a convincing one.

Not wanting to look anymore at his dreading face, I turned around to look at the view beside me. Not only was I lucky to sit beside a quiet person, but I also scored in seating in the backmost part of the classroom, which was also right next to the window!

The weather was the same as before, still as beautiful as ever. Such a perfect day one would think. The sky was a perfect shade of blue and there was just enough cloud that it didn’t fully cover the sun, giving us its comforting warmth in such a cool classroom.

When I say cool I mean literally, not only because of the air conditioning that was roaring in the back of the classroom, but because the person sitting next to me was cold, but just his aura literally, and it wasn’t like I hated the coolness he was giving off, I do like it.

But perhaps, don’t you think I'd like the cold better if I were to wear warmer clothes? You see, for the females of this school, the uniform they provided didn’t exactly give coverage to our legs and it’s particularly thin. Whether or not the reasoning of the school was so that we could move more freely and such didn’t matter as I was beginning to freeze my arse off because a kid couldn’t control his damn quirk.

“I have a weird question, I hope you don’t mind answering it?” I started, poking the reserved boy's right shoulder.
Turning to look at me, his face looked somewhat slightly annoyed yet at the same time he gave no expression somewhat like a porcelain doll, expressionless. “Depends, what is it?” His monotonous tone dripped out boredom.
“I feel like you're releasing… Coldness. I’m beginning to feel cold. And umm… I was wondering if it elicited from your quirk. If it is, would you mind controlling it or at least turning it down a bit?” Looking at him in anticipation and expectancy with one eyebrow raised, I waited patiently for his answer.
“Apologies, I didn’t realize I subconsciously activated my quirk.” He replied politely, the once cold eliciting from him became normal and then turned into warmth, “Is that better?” He questioned, face still expressionless like before.
“Yeah, thanks…?” Trailing off, waiting for him to introduce himself.
“Todoroki Shouto.”
With a polite smile, I raised my hand, offering him a handshake, “(L/n) (Y/n), it’s a pleasure to meet you, Todoroki. I hope we get along well.”
“Hmph. I hope so too, (L/n).” He nodded, taking up my offer with his unappreciative tone.

My eyes drifted to where our hands connected, it was callous and rough. He took his hand in my own, with his left. It was significantly warmer than one’s normal temperature but that’s alright. It was somewhat comforting in a way as it was just warm enough that it wasn’t scalding hot. The best way to describe it was as though you’re wrapped in a warm blanket next to a fireplace with a glass of hot chocolate, whilst outside it was snowing.

Though despite the warmth he gave me physically, he ignited something in me, and not in the way you’d think, so don’t misunderstand my words. (Because you might assume that I already liked him when I just met him, I assure you that is not the case.) The feeling he gave me on the inside was, moreover, annoying. ‘That was the most half-assed lie I've ever heard. If you’re gonna lie, at least make it sound and look convincing.’ Repeating the phrase in my head, I hope so too, (L/n). Ew. Now, internally groaning and revolting at his touch.

Snapping out of my thoughts, I gave him a convincing polite smile before pulling away to watch the scenes unravel in front of me and observe my newfound classmates. ‘Humans are quite fascinating… Their hair color and hairstyle are so strange and yet unique, to say the least. So young, and yet they dye their hair into any color imaginable, or were they born with it? Sometimes even their sense of fashion is strange, maybe that’s why I find them so amusing to observe.’

That human sitting beside me, Todoroki… He had a large scar on the left side of his face. I didn’t bother asking him about it as it might be something personal, however, it looked like it was burnt, was that the result of an unfinished execution? Like the ones, the humans would perform on my kin back then? The ends on the back of my hair rose like a soldier in battle, as well as goosebumps, shivering to the bone; not from the cold that Todoroki produced from before that hadn’t fully dissipated, but from the grim thoughts that began to plague my mind. ‘I thought they had already banned it, looks like I didn’t pay enough attention to muggle studies.’

His eyes too are different colors, of course, I’ve heard about people who have those. They’re just so rare and I hadn’t seen one in my life just before today. Glancing onto the front of the class, all of the students were in their respective seats sitting casually, except for that navy blue-haired boy, who was still scolding the blond boy.

As I looked at my surroundings, all of the students were looking at the blond boy and navy blue-haired boy until both boys had finally noticed and caught eye contact with poor Midoriya who had been frozen in place ever since we parted ways at the entrance.

You could tell that most of the students in this class were present since most of the desks were occupied. The dual-haired boy beside me didn’t take any interest in all the drama that was happening in the front of the class instead, choosing to stare down at his seemingly interesting desk. I’ve never seen my kind with unnatural hair unless they dyed it or was a metamorphmagus, so it’s refreshing to see a change for a bit. ‘I just can’t stop thinking about their hair, can’t I? Maybe I’m envious of them in that way.’

"It's you…" The navy blue-haired boy said out loud, causing everyone in the class to look at Midoriya, curiously.
"Um…" The boy said as he averted his eyes away from the crowd staring at him with a heavy blush clouding his face, while he gripped his backpack's straps tightly in nervousness.
"Good morning!" The blue-haired boy said as he walked like a robot toward the other boy, "I'm Iida Tenya from Soumei Private-" The blue-haired boy was cut off.
"I heard." The green-haired boy said as the robot-like man stopped in front of him.
"I'm Midoriya Izuku. Nice to meet you, Iida."
"Midoriya, you knew how that exam was set up, didn't you?" Iida questioned Midoriya. "I didn't notice it. I misjudged you. It's hard to admit, but you were one step ahead." He confessed, blushing as he made robot-like gestures.

'Could his robot-like gestures be related to his quirk? Or is he just really very uptight? The last time I saw someone as uptight as him was a Ravenclaw.' Beginning to wonder with amusement, I observed what was happening in front of the class unravel.

"Sorry. I didn't notice it either." Midoriya said honestly

'I think most people didn't notice it either, probably too busy trying to get as many points as they can or quite literally, running for their lives.’ Though I’ve tried to erase it, old habits just die hard, so my sarcastic thoughts began to spew out uncontrollably.

"That messy hair must be that reserved boy!" A cheery girl with short brunette hair yelled as she saw Midoriya.

As Midoriya heard the girl's voice, he turned around to face the brunette girl almost immediately, with a blush even heavier than before, appearing on his face.

"So you did pass! It was a great punch!" The girl said while punching the air trying to mimic what I assumed happens when Midoriya activates his quirk.
"Well… It was because you went to negotiate for me…" Trying to hide his flushed face behind his hands from the brunette girl.

‘That’s it. I’m betting now that they’re ending up together.’ I was conflicted about whether or not to feel happy for them or disgusted.

"How did you know?" The girl questioned curiously
"Well… That's…" Midoriya said nervously
The girl cut him off, "Is it just the ceremony and orientation? I'm curious about our teacher." Due to her being so excited, she was very oblivious to what was happening with Midoriya.
"If you want to play, go somewhere else." A tired-looking man said as he appeared behind the brunette on the floor with a yellow sleeping bag wrapped around him.

Everybody's eyes widened at the man's appearance. If my assumptions are correct, then he should be our class adviser. A few shocked gasps were let out by a few students as they saw the man, well more shocked about his current appearance in a sleeping bag than what he had actually said.

"This is a hero course, not a playground." Unzipping his sleeping bag and stepping out of it, "It took you 8 seconds to become quiet. Time is limited. You, kids, aren't logical." Looking at us with a menacing look he continued, "I'm your teacher, Aizawa Shota. Nice to meet you."

Most of the students gasped at the confirmation that this tired-looking man was in fact our class adviser. Aizawa-sensei sighed and dug through his sleeping bag to find something only to pull out our school's PE uniform.

"Wear these and come to the field." Sensei said lazily

We all began to grab our PE uniforms and make our way toward the school's locker which was of course divided by gender. 'Well, this is very exciting. It's only the first day and we're going to have some activities. This is surely becoming more interesting.' I thought to myself as I entered the girl's locker room with the other female students. As I began to change I looked away from the other girls as I was uncomfortable showing my body to other women who I didn't know.

"Hi, I'm Asihido Mina! But just call me, Mina!" A girl with pink hair and skin said enthusiastically towards me as she began to change next to me.

'Why is her skin pink? Probably because of her quirk, of course, duh. What I meant to say was, does it have a significant impact on her quirk or is it just decorative?’ Once again an old habit, die hard.

Learning more about quirks is a great idea since it seems like I haven't fully gotten a grasp on it. Quirks are very interesting, but also quite confusing, but no matter. The more and more interested it gets, the more I want to see and learn about it firsthand and up close.

"Alright, Mina." I said as I smiled at the girl. "The name's, (L/n) (Y/n), but you can call me, (Y/n) if you'd like." I continued
"So, what do you think we're going to do?" The brunette girl said to us excitedly, causing my and Mina's conversation to end.
"I don't know, but probably something related to our quirks."
"Of course, it's something related to our quirk, this is U.A. we’re talking about. Even if today is the first day, they would already begin testing us. And that's something I'd expect from them since they're a very prestigious school." A black-haired girl in a weird ponytail cut into our conversation in a very bossy and sassy way as though it was the most obvious thing.

Biting my tongue down to prevent myself from saying a nasty retort. I’m okay with sassy people, bossy people however are a different story. ‘Damn, she reminds me of the Carrow family, maybe even the Malfoy.’ After changing and introducing ourselves to everyone, we finally went out of the locker room and gathered around in the field outside of our school gym where the boys were already waiting for us alongside our adviser.

"You're all gathered here for a quirk assessment test." Sensei said lazily as he looked at the field in front of him and not the class.
"A quirk assessment test? Isn’t there supposed to be a ceremony or an orientation?" Uraraka questioned as her usually excited and cheery self died down at his words.
"If you want to be a hero, you don't have time for that." He countered, “U.A. is known for its unrestricted style and that goes for the teachers as well." He finished, finally turning around to look at us.
"Huh…?" Most of the class questioned silently, confusion written on their faces.
"You've been doing this since middle school, right? Physical fitness test without using your quirk." Our adviser showed us a strange device used for measuring, making all of the students in the class respond with a nod or a 'Yes'.

Neither Hogwarts nor Makomotto had any activities that involved anything physical except for quidditch which I know how to play and stuff. It’s a good thing that I began to prepare my body for this in my 3rd year. Letting out a relieved sigh, I noticed from the corner of my eyes, a boy rolling his eyes at me.

"The country continues to calculate averages based on uniform results, which is not logical. The Ministry of Education is just lazy." He explained to us, making the whole class quiet as we listened attentively.

'Ministry of Education, huh? I wonder why it reminds me so greatly of the Japanese Ministry of Magic…’ Mused at the mere coincidence

"Didn't Bakugo come in first in the practical exam?" Looking toward Bakugo, he questioned with an uncaring look
"Huh?" Said Bakugo
"In junior high, how many meters was your softball throw?" He questioned
"67 meters." Bakugo replied smugly
“Now do it using your quirk." Our adviser said to Bakugo

Bakugo just nodded back, catching the ball that our professor- I mean adviser tossed to him, he walked straight into the field, one hand gripping the ball so tightly that his knuckles began to turn white. His other hand shoved itself into his pocket, undoubtedly also clenching that fist as tight as the other one, you could confirm this with just one look because of the outline that showed from his pocket. Reaching the place he needed to be, he stood still and lazily in the circle, looking at Aizawa-sensei for confirmation.

"Do whatever you want as long as it’s inside the circle. Now, hurry and throw it with all your might. I want to go back to sleep." Emphasizing his words on the sleeping part.
"Okay then…" Bakugo said cockily as he stretched to prepare himself.

After stretching his arms a bit, he took a proper stance and aimed at the blue sky, clouds still floating around aimlessly and carefree. Then letting out an annoying smirk he yelled out.

"Die!" Screamed from the top of his lungs, the ball flew into the air, explosions trailing out from the hand he used to throw it, making it launch a great distance.

Specks of dust and clouds of black smoke were all that was left from the large explosion, making me and a few others cough as we accidentally inhaled the fumes, making me a bit irritated. 'Die?' I thought to myself as I let out an annoyed scoff and looked away from the scene in front of me. ‘Seems like being prideful is something humans aren’t immune to as well.’

"Stop being so prideful, you cocky little twat…" I whispered just loud enough for me to hear, unable to hold back my tongue.
"Die?" Midoriya deadpanned
"First, come to know your maximum limit." Sensei spoke as the ball began to fall rapidly onto the ground, when it finally hit the ground a strange 'ding' came from the strange device that Sensei was holding, "It's the most logical way to form a hero's foundation." Turning around to face us, he showed us Bakugo's result with the strange device.

The screen on the strange device showed what I would assume to be Bakugo's result. ‘Bloody showoff, such a bitch.’ I thought to myself, uncaring if someone with a kind reading quirk could hear my thoughts, ‘705 meters, huh? Not bad, he may be cocky, but he has one surely powerful quirk and the talent to wield it though he doesn’t look like it…’

"705 meters, seriously?" A guy with electric yellow hair said
"It looks fun!" Mina bounced up and down excitedly, applauding the little show the angry mutt put on.
"We can utilize our quirk in this course!" A boy with jet-black hair and weird elbows said excitedly
"It looks fun, huh?" Looking ashamed of us, he shook his head with disappointment, "Do you plan to become a hero within 3 years with that attitude?" Aizawa-sensei finished
"Uh…" His comment left the class dumbfounded.
"Okay, let’s do it this way then.” Pausing dramatically for a second to create tension and suspense, “Whoever has the lowest overall score with these 8 categories will be considered hopeless and will be expelled." With a creepy smirk, brushing his hair out of his face to make sure we see that from his expression, he’s serious.
"Huh!?" Most of us responded except for a few others like the quiet Todoroki, who was coincidentally beside me.

'I thought that I wouldn't need to use my magic this early, but I guess it was unavoidable. I should just concentrate as much as possible.' I thought to myself with a concentrated expression appearing on my face.

"We can choose what to do with our students." Aizawa-sensei said creepily as he lifted his hair that was clouding his face. "Welcome, this is the hero course of U.A." He finished with a creepy smile

I let out a sigh as I looked at the students around me. Seems like most of them were nervous except for Todoroki, the weird ponytail girl, and Bakugo, who was smirking. 'Human version of Malfoy, huh…? I never did really get along with him well, more like I tolerated him and his existence.’ Openly rolled my eyes at him. Is it normal for human schools to expel their students that easily without a good reason except that they're deemed hopeless? Well, bloody hell humans have different standards. However, he does remind me of a certain big-nose professor whose portrait stood proudly in the headmaster’s office which I used to visit a bit more often than others.

"How can you expel us? It's only our first day! Even if it's not our first day, it's unfair!" Uraraka yelled out to Aizawa-sensei in desperation.
“Isn’t it the school’s job to develop their student's skills first and then test them?” I whispered quietly
"Natural disasters, enormous accidents, and selfish villains… We never know when or where they'll come. Japan is filled with unfairness." Aizawa-sensei countered

'It's not only Japan, it's not only your world. But mine as well…' I thought to myself as I began to list out everything in my world and life that was unfair, which fueled my determination and desire to achieve becoming a hero and redefine what everyone thinks of me.

"Heroes overturn those dire situations." He proclaimed

‘Of course, no matter what it takes. For the sake of everyone else, heroes are forced to overturn those dire situations. Even if it means sacrificing everything. How inspirational…’ My adrenaline began to pump through my veins. The more sensei continued to speak, the more I found myself getting caught in a web of determination, tangling myself in it with no way to get out anymore. Forever doomed by the decision I chose. To take a chance and risk everything for such a selfish desire, but once everything becomes settled it will be selfish no more.

"If you want to have fun with your friends, too bad." With disapproval in his tone, he gave us the harsh reality.

'If we only focus on becoming a hero for others without taking breaks to destress and have a bit of fun, our mental health and stability would decrease immensely until we’ve become depressed and anxious all the time. Resulting in us regretting and resenting our decision in becoming a hero. So what exactly do you mean?’

"U.A. will continue to give you trials within these 3 years." He implored, his tone changing a bit to a rather lighter one.

'I assume these trials are designed specifically for each one of us to make sure we are pushed to our breaking points.’ Shivering at my thoughts, ‘To see if you're cut out for everything the future- or more like villains may throw your way. To make sure blood doesn’t stain their hands for them not being able to push you beyond your limits. Either that or to see if we truly are loyal and determined to be heroes and not switch sides.’

"That’s why we teach you how to go over and beyond, Plus Ultra." He finished with his own form of pep talk, using the school’s motto to set a reminder in our brains of the real reason we can push through any circumstances, and with that, a feeling rush ran through my body.

'Knowing the consequences of my own actions… By being here at this exact moment, if only I could still turn back and forget about becoming a hero. I mean I could do that, but what’s there to come back to? Nothing, but chaos. Well at least for now. Until everything has calmed down and been forgiven. If this plan doesn’t work, I don’t know what I’ll do as I’ve gambled everything on this. So whatever happens this has to work.’

Clenching both my fist together, I looked at Aizawa-sensei, ‘Fuck it then. Take the risk and deal with the consequences later. Endure it all, the humiliation, the pain, and my pride.’

"That's the end of our demonstration. The real deal starts now." Aizawa-sensei finally finished his inspirational speech.

‘It’s so ambitious of me to think I can go through with this successfully. So I guess I’ll need to fake it until I make it. Go over and beyond, Plus Ultra. Bring me the most horrid test you have and I’ll take it with my head held high.' Repeating his words in my head, unclenching my fist as my face relaxed, a slight smile appeared.
