“Remus,Remus please.” Begged sirius from the other side of the room.
The room they were in was damp and dark some old office in the ministry now converted to be where they stored prisoners after there trial before they were to be taken to azkaban, and in special circumstances there visitors would be there too.
Remus backed away and didn't dare set his eyes upon sirius knowing the pain it would cause him.
“Please I didn't.” Sirius stressed trying to walk closer but the chains holding him to the wall would not allow up. Remus held out his hand “I cant belive…” he said with pain holding back tears. Sirius froze in agony seeing remus in so much pain.
“I cant belive I trusted you again.” He said softly.
It felt as though a knife was stabbed through sirius’s heart. “No no no moony please I can promise you can trust me! You can trust me more than anyone please I love you I didn’t hurt lily and james I would never!!” He exclaimed as tears fell from his eyes.
Remus mistakenly glanced as sirius.
Sirius standing there in those ugly azkaban robes,
hes to be sent off in a meer few hours shortly after the trial.
Upon seeing sirius in such a broken desperate state remus broke down unashamed by the tears falling hard and fast. And for a moment the two men cried. One over his own self hatred ‘How could I be so nieve to think remus would trust me! Why would anyone trust me they all think im just like my family.’ Sirius though and the worst part was on some level he was not wrong.
The other cried over the loss of his life though he was still alive everything remus had been building since he met sirius,james,and peter all those years ago was now ripped away and taken from him, he was alone once again.
“Remus im sorry im so sorry.” Sirius sobbed quietly. Remus tried to calm himself but couldn’t manage it “I really loved you you know, I… I loved you more than I loved anyone I thought I would have you forever I thought I could trust you! I even bought a ring god I was a idiot I..” he paused taking a deep breath
“God I just really loved you thats all, and…I need a cigarette.” Remus sighed knowing they were prohibited. Its so silly he thought that at this moment his concern was a cigarette?
Sirius looked at remus with pain in his eyes “Remus…” he had nothing else to say he had no idea how to make remus believe him. “Why did you do it please sirius just tell me that you owe it to me please.” Remus asked firmly, looking for some answer in all this mess. “I didn’t.” Sirius pleaded knowing he explained the story to remus 10 times over now
“Please use a truth spell or something for christ sakes I can promise I didn’t remus you know I would never do that to you or james or lily or harry or anyone please.” Sirius pleaded. And for a moment there was clarity, for the first time in 48 hours remus saw clarity.
He didn’t belive sirius’s innocence no not yet but just maybe there was a chance. Remus shakily took out his wand witch he had snuck through security and gently flicked it at sirius. Even under stress to could perform spells effortlessly. “Alright.” Remus said collecting himself,
sirius nodded . “Tell me why you did it to lily and james.” He asked. Sirius sadly smiled “like ive been saying moony I didn’t, it was peter.” Sirius softly smiled still looking nervous as Remus let out a small gasp and his wand clattered to the floor. He quickly picked it up again wanting to make sure sirius was telling the truth
“did you kill james and lily?”
“No”
“Who killed them”
“Peter”
“Have you ever worked with volomort.”
“No”
“Do you….love me?”
“More than you will ever know.”
Remus tilted his head up and closed his eyes tightly as if saying a prayer. “Please god why.” He groaned. Sirius softly smiled at him “well do you believe me?” He asked
nervously .
Sirius fell to his knees in front of sirius sobbing “im so sorry how did I not believe you im so sorry will you forgive me please, don't worry I will get you out of this I will talk to doubledore or the minister or get myself locked up just to be with you please forgive me I love you so much Im so sorry.” He sobbed yearning to hold sirius close to him but knowing there were to many spells stoping him from doing such.
“Im sorry I ever made you doubt me.” Sirius cried softly.
Sudently there was a loud buzzer noise and two strong men entered the room and unshackled sirius. He tried to reach out for remus but the two men grabbed him. “I’ll fix this!” Remus yelled as they dragged sirius off “Its alright love, ill see you every night until than anyway.” Sirius said as he glanced out the window to the moon.
Remus almost laughed at sirius’s sentiment. “Pleas here.” Remus shakily reached into his pocket and pulled out a velvet ring box, he fook out the ring and tossed it at sirius who somehow managed to cetech it in spite of the men holding his arms as tight as shackles.
One of the men noticed the ring and tossed it to the ground before slamming the door “i’ll fix thi-“ remus said as he broke down sobbing again now that sirius was taken from him he was entirely alone once more.
