Dating...on one condition

Regulus Black was confused, to say the least. Now, Regulus considered himself to be a very smart man, so the fact that he was confused was significant to him. First on his list of "confusion" was the fact that his brother, who had been harassing him for days, was extraordinarily distant tonight when they worked on the essay for Amortentia. He looked at Regulus like he was a ghost and barely spoke two words to him, which made Regulus worry. He didn't care about his brother, totally not, but what if his brother found out about the...kiss. Maybe that's why he was so distant, maybe he found out and he hates Regulus even more now

Speaking of that kiss, James Potter, who was about to meet him at the astronomy tower, was, tonight, looking at both brothers like they were ticking bombs about to explode. But that isn't something he should be worrying about now; he should be worrying about what James Potter will say to him when he arrives at the astronomy tower.

"Reggie."

Speak of the annoyingly handsome devil.

"I told you not to call me that," Regulus said, ignoring the fact that his heart had quite literally stopped, and he was sure that he was blushing.

James simply grinned at him and came to sit beside Regulus, their hands brushing against one another (which almost gave Regulus a heart attack). He looked nervous, and if Regulus wasn't as good of an actor as he was, he would have looked nervous too.

"You wanted to talk, Potter, so talk-"

"I like you," James interrupted, and Regulus felt the blush rise to his cheeks. "Romantically," James added just to clarify, because of course he did.

It was silent for a while until Regulus realized James expected him to speak too. "Look, James, I like you a lot, yes, also in the romantic sense, but-" he stopped talking for a moment to take a deep breath.

"But?" James questioned, and Regulus made the mistake of looking into his sad eyes. Merlin, it was like looking at a puppy.

"You're my brother's best friend, firstly, and secondly, you don't really like me."

Hm. Now James looked confused.

"I'm going to ignore the first thing because it honestly doesn't matter to me," James said before speaking again. "But- how could you think I don't like you? You're the most amazing man in the world. Regulus Arcturus Black, you are extremely intelligent, you're the most beautiful man on the face of the planet, you are one of the best Quidditch players ever, and you are so funny, even when you're trying not to be. Honestly, I can't think of any reasons not to like you."

Regulus was stunned and flustered at the same time. Who knew it was possible to love this man even more?
But being the drama queen that he is, he couldn't just let this be. "Fine, if you like me that much, prove it."

He leaned closer to James, who immediately took the hint and pulled Regulus into a fierce and passionate kiss. It was somehow better than the last one; James was more confident now, and it showed. If Regulus could stay here forever, with James's tongue in his mouth, he would. Honestly, things couldn't get better than this.
Again, he was proven wrong as his back hit the cold astronomy tower floor, James on top of him, pinning him to the ground. He couldn't help himself; he let out a wide grin, which turned into a soft moan as James's lips trailed kisses on his neck.
Unfortunately, the moment soon ended as James got off of Regulus and decided lay beside him.

"Was that proof enough for you?" James asked, his eyes filled with mischief, and all Regulus could do was nod.

"Listen, if you want to, I would love to date you, on one condition, however." Regulus finally found his voice and told him.

"Anything for you, my love." James smirked, as he placed one of his hands on Regulus face and softly moved his thumb in circles.

Ignoring how his heart, which was currently running a marathon and may be also literally skipping beats, he spoke again. "We have to be a secret. I can't have my parents and my brother finding out."

James looked at him for a moment, and raised an eyebrow, as if to say, 'that's it?', before he started speaking too. "Of course, I would gladly date you whether we were a secret or not, but I have a condition too. You'll let Sirius talk and try to explain things to you, even if it's just for 10 minutes. Please, I need you to just hear him out."

Regulus was about to say no and just sprint back to the Slytherin common room when he realized that he shouldn't be compromising his happiness just because he didn't want to talk to his big brother, for a few minutes. Plus, it was only fair since James agreed to his condition.

"Agreed," he murmured, and James grinned at him.

"Well, now I can finally start my 'Turn Regulus Black into Regulus Potter' plan," James replied, and Regulus was about to question him, then throw him off the astronomy tower, when James's lips were on his once more.

This was totally not going to end badly.

Totally not....
