A change in destiny
It was a trap! Of course it was. Why hadn’t anyone listened to her ? Hermione thought as she dodged spell after spell from the Death Eaters at times sending a barrage of her own right back at them ash she ran towards the door. As she reached the door she saw Ginny do a very impressive bombarda on the shelves slowing the death eaters down before she too ran through the door.
The arrival of the order brought a temporary relief for the group of students. However Hermione noticed the odd aura coming from the stone arch in the middle of the room. The archway was unsettling her as she heard voices come from it but it seemed that no one else was affected by it. With a gasp of horror Hermione realised they had ended up in what was known as the Death Chamber. A large cavernous room , dimly lit with the arch on its own Dias raised from the sunken surroundings. The stone carved around the front of it looking like a courtroom facing judgement with the arch in position of the judge as if death himself was presiding. The arch was the fabled veil of death. It was said that it was created by death himself as a bridge between the land of the living and the land of the dead. All this information crashed through her mind as she looked up to see Harry and Sirius duelling Lucius Malfoy far too close to the arch. Harry had succeeded in disarming the elder Malfoy “Nice one James!” She heard Sirius say mistaking Harry at that moment for his father. Out of the corner of her eye she spotted Bellatrix appear across the cavern with a direct line of sight on Sirius. She saw Bellatrix lock her eyes on Sirius with such a look of bitter hatred she was shocked Sirius didn’t immediately burst into flames. Without thinking she ran towards Sirius at the same time she heard Bellatrix utter the words “AVADA KEDAVRA!” She got there just in time to push him out of the way of the green light of the killing curse. The curse barely missed her and she just about heard Sirius send a curse back at his cousin.
However her momentum was too much and she very quickly realised she couldn’t stop and instead crashed straight towards the voices. Straight into the space in the Arch. Straight into the veil or as far she knew straight into Deaths arms.
