All Will Be Well
Summary
When Draco goes home after his fifth year, his life is drastically changed. He is forced to become a Death Eater and take his place in the second war with the Dark Lord. Even though Draco hates it, he can't escape, and he can't fight for the other side for more reasons than one. Along the way, he meets a squib (or is she) who has just as little choices as he does. She is bruised, traumatized, and has more secrets than anyone else. Somehow, she sees his true self, and he sees her. This is a story of their dark and turbulent path through the war, madness, and through love.
Note
Hello everyone! I am writing again! Inspiration struck, and I decided I had an idea. I don't know if anyone else will like this, but I've loved writing it so far, and have almost written 20 chapters, with plans for many more. If you've read my other works you know I write a lot about angsty things. I love to depict mental health and trauma, and what it's like to help someone through that. I draw on my own experiences, and it's a great outlet for me. That being said.. TW!!! I'm not going to post specifics, but you can look at the tags, and if you are going to be triggered... please please just skip this one. It's not going to be super triggering the whole time, as I'm more interested in the healing process, but still. One more thing, the beginning is a little confusing, but I really feel like Act 2 and Act 3 are worth it. It is one of the works I am most proud of! So if you need any clarification, please don't hesitate to ask!Anyways. Thank you so much for reading this, and I love reviews. Tell me what you liked and what you didn't. It helps me to be a better writer and it helps me to know if the story is on a good path.Enjoy!!

She's so much more

Amira took in her appearance in the floor length mirror in her room. Her gown was black with dark blue accents. There was a V-neck with an elegant high collar that descended into sleeves that went up and hooked around her middle finger. The bodice framed her waist tightly and then went out at her hips before falling to the floor. The fabric seemed to shimmer, especially as she moved. Her hair was in an updo with just two shorter curled pieces falling around her face. Her makeup was heavier than normal, almost a delicate smoky eye and a darker lip.

"Beautiful darling," Narcissa praised. "I have something for you."

Amira turned to see her holding a box. Narcissa was wearing a silvery white gown that had white fur shawl. She looked like the picture of grace and elegance.

Amira gracefully walked over to her. Narcissa opened the box. Inside, sat a jeweled necklace. Blue jewels on a dark chain that looked like it cost more than anything Amira had ever touched, paired with two small earrings of the same design.

"It's an heirloom," Narcissa said, "From my Black relatives. It is supposed to be passed to a daughter, but I have no daughters, and you are worthy of it."

"I can't accept this," Amira shook her head.

"I insist," Narcissa said, "There is no one else more deserving."

Amira felt touched, and Narcissa set the box down on a side table and removed the necklace gently. She placed it on Amira's neck, and helped her secure the earrings. She stood behind Amira with her hands on her shoulders and looked into the mirror with her.

"I am very proud of you," Narcissa murmured, "You have blossomed into a strong woman."

Amira turned to look at her, feeling misty eyed.

"I don't feel like one," She admitted.

"None of us ever do at first," Narcissa explained with a sad smile, "I know you are going to do great things."

Narcissa's eyes were intense, and somehow Amira knew that Narcissa was aware of what her true feelings were.

"And, I couldn't think of a better match for my son," Narcissa added cheekily before backing away. Amira blushed. "Oh don't be shy, young love is a gift."

"We're not-"

"Maybe not yet," Narcissa interrupted, "But just wait and see."

Amira felt flustered and also felt butterflies at the thought of Draco. She knew he was waiting downstairs for her. She could hear that many of the guests had arrived. Weirdly, she was more nervous about what Draco would think of her than her upcoming announcement to the Death Eaters and their families.

"We must go," Narcissa instructed, "Are you prepared?"

Amira nodded.

"Good," Narcissa said. She turned towards Amira's door and walked out. Amira followed her, trying to mimic her graceful glide down the hallway.

"Wait up here for just a few moments after I go down," Narcissa commanded, "You'll do well. Just follow Draco's lead, he knows what he's doing."

With one more soft smile, Narcissa turned and descended the stairs. Amira could just peek and see Lucius waiting for her at the bottom, looking up in concealed awe at his wife's beauty. Amira wondered about Lucius's character often. He seemed like he had given Draco a strict but loving childhood. He'd participated in torturing innocents, killing too, but he loved his family, and Amira did believe it was genuine. He was selfish and power hungry, but he wasn't a cruel or vile man. His soul was torn but it wasn't as dark and mangled as the others. Lucius was most definitely not someone Amira would trust, but she wondered if Narcissa would be able to sway him to run when the time came.

Amira waited until the couple walked away from the staircase. She noticed Draco take his father's place. Amira took a few breaths before she decided to appear.

Draco adjusted his cufflinks discreetly as he waited for Amira to come downstairs. His friends had arrived already, Blaise, Theo, Greg, Vince, Pansy, and Millie. Blaise and Theo looked a little bit apprehensive to be there. Blaise's step-father was a Death Eater, and his mother didn't like it. She didn't want Blaise to follow in his footsteps, but he had insisted they come. Theo was nervous about the warnings that Draco had given them at Hogwarts. Draco had assured them both that nothing horrible would happen at the ball, and they'd relaxed. Greg and Vince were oblivious. Pansy and Millie were just happy to be there at such a prestigious event. Although, Pansy had been quite put out that she hadn't been invited as Draco's date. Draco didn't know when the girl was going to give up. If he wasn't sure he wanted Amira before, he was absolutely determined now.

Movement at the top of the stairs caught his eye. He turned, looked up, and his breath caught in his throat. She was absolutely stunning. His eyes met hers and it felt like time stopped as she walked down the stairs. She was holding her skirt delicately, keeping her head up and her shoulder's back. Her dress fit her beautifully, the colors complimented her eyes and her dark hair. Her skin looked like it was glowing. Draco couldn't believe how lucky he was to be escorting her.

"Good evening," he greeted her and extended his arm. She took it and he helped her down the last few stairs. "You look beautiful."

"Thank you," she asked, "You look handsome as well."

His dress robes matched her accent colors, and Draco knew they would be a striking duo. His mother always made sure the Malfoys looked good.

Draco wanted to stand and stare at her some more before they continued into the ball, but he knew they couldn't, and he didn't want her to feel awkward.

"Shall we?" he offered. She nodded. There were a few people milling about the hall, but most of the crowd had already gone into the ballroom.

He guided her to the ballroom doors.

"I can feel the magic in there," she whispered, "It's so festive."

"The magic is festive?" Draco chuckled. "How?"

"I don't know," she laughed, "It just is. Feels like the holidays."

"Well it is," he grinned, "Can you show me?"

Over the past few months Amira had discovered she could show people what magic felt like when she wanted to. She didn't do it often, and it didn't help them to recognize it for themselves, but it was a neat trick. She nodded and placed her hand over his.

A warm, and nostalgic feeling washed over Draco. It felt like sitting by the fire with hot cocoa after playing outside in snow. It also felt like Yule music and treats, presents, and family.

"Wow," he said, "That's nice."

"It is," she smiled. "Let's go inside."

He nodded and escorted her inside. His mother had gone all out. The chandeliers looked to be made of ice, there were snow frosted trees scattered throughout the room, and the tables, walls, and floor were white. It was like stepping into the classiest winter wonderland. It was cold in the room too, but not in the way the Manor was. It felt like they were outside on a nice winter day.

The band was playing traditional Yule music on their strings in the front of the room, and floating platters of wine, champagne, and little treats and snacks were circling around the room. The dance floor was empty yet, everyone was waiting for the traditional first dance from the hosts.

Several people looked over at them when they entered, and Draco could see their questioning eyes as they wondered who was on the Malfoy heir's arm.

He respectfully walked to his parents first.

"Draco," his father said, "Amira."

Both Amira and Draco greeted him and his mother.

"I knew you two were going to look exquisite together," his mother complimented.

"You have outdone yourself," Draco told her. She had, their outfits were incredible. His mother smiled, pleased.

"We are honored to have you help represent the Malfoy house tonight," his father said to Amira.

"I am grateful to be here," she answered politely, "Your family has been so kind to me. I will not forget it."

Draco was impressed by her grasp of how to play the pureblood politics game. His father had been looking for some reassurance of her feelings towards them, and she had given it. She was honest, Draco knew that she was truly grateful to him and his mother. And his father would now look out for her even more going further down the road.

Draco turned so that they would be standing next to his parents. They would greet their guests for the first half hour and then his parents would dance. After that, they would do a few dances, and then they would begin to make their laps around the room. About halfway through the night the Dark Lord would arrive, and make a speech and his announcement. He would stay for probably no more than an hour, and then Draco and Amira would be "off-duty". They'd be allowed to dance, talk, and drink as they pleased.

The first couple to come to them was the head of the Nott family and his wife.

"Lucius," he greeted, "Narcissa, Draco, Amira."

He'd been at a few meetings. He was a bit older and didn't have an active role any longer. He was more of an advisor and a bank roller for the Dark Lord now.

After him, the line of greeters didn't stop. The Parkinson's, Rosier's, Zabini's, Avery's, Bulstrodes, Goyle's, Crabbe's, and more all came down the line. The children stayed back if they had any, as was protocol. The last person to come up to them was Aunt Bella.

She was wearing a dress very similar to Amira's, but hers had dark purple accents, and her hair was in her usual untamed mess. Draco didn't miss the similarities, or the fact that only Amira and Bella were wearing dark colors.

"Hello Draco," she greeted first, going out of order to purposely taunt his father. His father was used to her antics though, so he looked unphased at the slight.

"Cissy, Lucy," Bella sang. "And Amira. Look at you. Dangerous."

"Hello Bella," Amira greeted.

"I just want to eat you up," Bella said, taking her hands. Amira was wearing many silver rings that Bella took the time to admire. Draco was sometimes nervous about how comfortable the two women were with each other. He didn't know anyone else, not even his mother, who was so unphased by Bella's insanity. Amira matched her energy when it was acceptable, and other times just stayed neutral. Bella loved Amira, almost obsessively. She talked about her constantly and always asked if she could bring Amira with her. The Dark Lord apparently had needed to set boundaries and remind Bella that Amira was under his control, not hers.

The music slowed, the signal for his mother and father to take the floor.

His mother and father started with the classic waltz. Draco admired their grace and their familiarity with each other. The entire room was watching them, and they didn't seem to care. They were talking to each other quietly and making the entire thing look more natural than breathing. Their love was unique, quiet, and not for show, but they made a powerful duo. Draco's entire life he'd watched and envied it.

When the music sped up slightly, Draco knew it was their turn to join them. He gently pulled Amira onto the dance floor. They'd practiced the dance before, several times over the week, and like everything else, Amira was a natural. They glided around the dance floor opposite from his parents. He led Amira and held her eyes.

"This is going well," Draco commented, trying to make the whole thing less nerve-wracking. Even he was stressed with everyone watching, and he had done this a few times before.

"Your mother will be pleased," Amira agreed. "Your friends are watching us."

"Everyone is watching us," Draco said.

"True," she acquiesced, "It's going to be worse later."

"Yes," Draco commented, "But it's going to satisfy their curiosity as to why we won't say your last name."

"It doesn't feel like my last name," she murmured. He looked closely at her after a spin.

"Did you prefer your previous?" he asked, confused.

"No, that never fit either," she said, "Neither of them feel like they belong to me."

"That makes sense," Draco said. He couldn't relate. He was Malfoy in his bones. He knew where he belonged. The question was more if he was going to stay with his family, or try to steer them in his direction.

"So this was how you grew up?" she asked him, "Balls and fancy parties?"

"I suppose so," he said, "They seemed normal then."

"You like them," she stated.

"I think there's a beauty to them, yes," he said.

"I can see that," she agreed.

"You seem like you grew up this way as well," he pointed out, "It looks so natural."

"It's not," she laughed lightly, "I'm just pretending."

"You should be an actress," he said, and pushed her out for another spin.

"You could be an actor too," she told him when she was in his arms again, "You're just as good as me. You could have your own show."

He dipped her, "You could be my leading lady."

"How romantic," she said as he lifted her up. "I'd like that. In a different world."

"Yes, a different world," he said sadly. "Do you ever think about what else your life could've been like?"

"No," she said, "There's no point. I think about what my life could be like when we make it out of all of this. If we do."

"Smart," he said, "What do you want to do when this is over?"

"I want to go to the beach," she said.

"That's it?" he asked incredulously.

"Well I've never been," she said with the smallest shrug. The music changed and more couples joined them on the dance floor. Draco and Amira adjusted their hold to match the style of the dance.

"We will fix that," he decided, "What else?"

She thought about it. "I'd like to travel, see the Americas, the rest of Europe, everywhere really."

"Me as well," he said, "What about after all of that? What do you want to do?"

"I want to have a dog," she said. Draco was aghast.

"A dog?" he asked respectfully. She giggled.

"Yes Draco, a dog," she said, "I love animals. I want a lot of them."

"Right," he said, thinking of his checkered past with animals.

"Maybe a tiger," she said, "And some birds."

"Those are wild picks," he said.

She just laughed again.

"What about you?" she asked, "What's something simple that you want in your future?"

He thought about it genuinely.

"I want to wake up, and have a nice cup of tea and watch the sun rise," he said. "Go to work, whatever that is. And then come home to my family. I want peace."

She nodded. "That sounds nice."

He agreed.

"I'm sure you'll get that," she told him.

Before he could respond, the music changed again to a fast and complex dance. They'd practiced it, but it still took their full concentration. They weren't able to talk as much, which was okay because the dance floor was extremely crowded now.

They finished the dance feeling exhilarated.

"We should take a break," Draco suggested, feeling out of breath. Amira nodded, and he led her off of the dance floor. He snagged two champagne glasses for them as well. "Here."

She took a sip. "That's good."

"Have you ever had it?" he asked, taking a drink of his own.

"No, I've never drank before," she admitted.

"Well, let's stick to one for now," he teased. His own alcohol tolerance was fine for his age. He couldn't go crazy, but he didn't wish to anyways. She nodded. He also took a small plate of cheese and fruit and they shared it. There were also two holiday cookies.

"This is really good," she murmured.

"They're my mother's favorite," he said, "She'll have them on Christmas as well."

"Draco," they heard. The couple turned to see Blaise approaching with Millie on his arm.

"Hello Blaise, Millie," Draco greeted after clearing his throat, "You remember Amira."

"I couldn't forget," Blaise flirted and took Amira's hand to kiss it.

"Hello," Amira said neutrally. She took Draco's arm, and Draco inwardly felt butterflies at the quiet display.

"You look magnificent," Millie complimented, "The dress is everything."

"I have Draco's mother to thank for it," Amira gushed, "She's wonderful."

"Oh she is, I always loved coming to visit as a child," Millie agreed.

"How are you?" Draco asked Blaise, "Enjoying yourself?"

"I'm well," Blaise answered, "It's quite beautiful here."

Draco nodded, "Networking much?"

His words held a double meaning.

"Oh, I've been keeping to myself," Blaise stated, "I wouldn't want to bother the older crowd. I'm just a school boy after all."

Draco nodded, pleased with his friend's decision.

"You and Theo need to be making more of this opportunity," Millie scolded, "You're so lucky to be here and you're both avoiding everyone!"

"Oh it's alright Millie," Draco assured. "This is really for the adults."

"Look, there they are," Blaise pointed out. Pansy and Theo were making their way over, followed by Vince and Greg.

"You found us," Millie said excitedly to Pansy.

"Hello," Theo started another round of greetings.

"I was wondering if we would see you tonight Amira," Pansy sniffed.

"I'm very happy to be here," Amira said cooly.

"Yes, it's nice that they invited you," Pansy said arrogantly, "We've always had an invitation to the Malfoy's."

"Amira's the star of the show this year," Millie said kindly, oblivious to the tension.

"That's a bit overstated I would say," Pansy said pettily.

Theo decided to interrupt, "Is the Dark Lord going to be in attendance?"

"Yes," Draco answered, "He should be arriving soon actually."

"He's almost here," Amira agreed. She sent a wave of slight chilling cold into Draco's arm so that he was aware of what she felt. He was approaching the ballroom.

"What would you know?" Pansy snapped, "You're not one of us."

Amira smiled coldly, "No, I'm not."

She's so much more, Draco said in his head. Pansy's words were true even if it was the complete opposite direction of what she had meant. The Dark Lord held her above them all. Pansy was nothing compared to Amira. Not that that was a good thing to Draco. He'd like to take Amira and run far from here to somewhere neither of them would be important. But they could not.

Sure enough, a hush and cold wave settled over the room. The group turned to look towards the front. The Dark Lord had appeared seemingly out of nowhere and was standing on a slightly raised platform in the center of the front of the room.

"Welcome," he said in his hissed whisper that somehow carried throughout the room, "I am so pleased to see you've all joined us tonight."

His red eyes traveled the room.

"I'd like to thank our gracious hosts," he said, gesturing to Draco's parents, "Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy have been wonderful in preparing all of this and offering their homes to me."

There was a spattering of applause.

"I wanted us to gather here tonight to celebrate our return. We are strong again."

More applause.

"We can now move towards our goals with speed. The days when we have to live in the shadows are coming to an end."

There was cheering this time. His words were bringing a triumphant energy to the room. Draco glanced at his friends to see the girls enraptured with his speech, and Theo and Blaise looking thoughtful.

"I want to thank you all for your past, present, and continued support moving forward," the Dark Lord continued, "I see many familiar faces, and many new ones. I am pleased by this. Together, we will restore the wizarding world to it's righteous glory!"

There was a large cheer at this.

"Before I let you continue to celebrate this momentous night, I need to introduce someone new," he said. The room hushed. Draco felt Amira tense next to him. He squeezed her hand. The Dark Lord made a gesturing motion with his hand. Amira and Draco quietly started to make their way to the front. He escorted her, and he ignored the confused glances his friends shot him.

"We have had an amazing discovery over the past few months," the Dark Lord said, "Someone very powerful has joined our ranks to help us take on the light."

Interested chatter broke out. No one seemed to question the couple making their way through the crowd to the front.

"She has a unique gift and ability for magic, and with her help, we are guaranteed to win this war," he announced, "And even better, she is one of their own."

Confused murmurs hissed through the crowd.

"Amira, come," the Dark Lord commanded quietly. Amira let go of Draco's arm and climbed the stairs of the platform gracefully.

"She has trained directly under myself and Bellatrix for the past few months, and she is now ready to take her place as one of my best servants," the Dark Lord said, placing a hand on her shoulder, "It is with great pride that I introduce to you, Amira Dumbledore."

There was a stunned silence.

Draco found Severus quickly with his eyes. His face was blank, but he wasn't taking his eyes off of Amira.

Bellatrix broke the silence with a cheer. Then, almost as rehearsed, the Death Eaters who already knew Amira broke into raucous applause. The rest of the crowd joined in uncertainly.

The Dark Lord's voice roared over the crowd.

"We have taken the blood of Albus Dumbledore and now she will help us to bring him down and destroy everything he believes in!"

The crowd was roaring with him. Amira stood with her head held high.

The cheers went on for minutes. Eventually, the Dark Lord turned to Amira and the two of them spoke to each other quickly before he turned and walked to the throne that sat behind them. He took his seat and Amira walked back down the stairs and went back to Draco.

The cheering died down and people returned to their conversations.

"How'd I do?" Amira asked him nervously.

"Very well," Draco said, offering his arm again. He was very aware of the entirety of the world's eyes on him. The Dark Lord had never given an endorsement of such magnitude before, not even to Bellatrix. Draco knew that having Amira on his arm would make him just as noticeable as her, and now was not the time to have any slip up.s

She whispered in his ear, "It's a lot Draco."

"Are you alright?" he checked.

"Yes, just please don't leave me," she asked him.

"Of course," he assured her, "I'll stay right next to you."

Having greeted most of the room already, their next conversations were all people trying to get to know her more. Amira evaded all questions spectacularly while making them feel like she was interested in them. She turned most of the conversations back to them, and most people walked away feeling like Amira liked them and cared. Yaxley kept his distance, as did Macnair.

Draco wondered if they had been warned. Draco knew Yaxley had to be upset that he had gotten absolutely no recognition in Amira's announcement. His place in her life had been all but erased. As it should have been. Avery came to speak to them at the request of his wife, but Draco could tell he was extremely nervous. Draco didn't care. He was cold, and turned Amira away from that conversation as quickly as possible.

Surprisingly, Severus decided to come speak to them as well.

"Draco," he greeted, "You've been keeping secrets."

"Haven't we all?" Draco countered.

"It's nice to meet you," Amira said, "I've heard much about you."

Draco was surprised at what seemed like genuine interest. He wondered if she knew something he didn't.

"I cannot say the same, though I'm sure I will be hearing much about you in the coming months," Severus drawled.

"Yes, perhaps," she said, "I was hoping we could speak sometime, I have a few questions about things that I've heard you have great expertise in."

This was the first Draco had heard about it. Severus seemed similarly thrown off.

"I will be here a few more times over break," Severus said slowly.

"Just tell Narcissa when you have time," Amira told him, "I look forward to it."

Severus nodded before excusing himself.

Draco raised a brow, but Amira shook her head. He looked to the front of the room and saw the Dark Lord watching them. Amira nodded her head at him. The Dark Lord stood, and left quickly before anyone else noticed. The air lightened significantly.

Amira breathed out a sigh. "He's gone for the rest of the break."

Draco felt a wash of relief. "Good."

"Can we relax now?" she checked.

"Yes, have another drink," he said.

"Are you sure?" she asked.

"Yes, have some fun if you'd like, I'll keep an eye on things," he promised her.

She nodded and accepted another glass of champagne.

They made their way back over to his friends.

"Wow, a Dumbledore," Blaise stated, "Now I see why you couldn't tell us."

"What's it like, working with him?" Millie asked eagerly.

"Stressful," Amira admitted, "He has high expectations."

"I can imagine," Theo said, "He's intense."

"This is so exciting though!" Millie squealed, "You're so important!"

Pansy kept silent through the conversation, and Draco found it funny.

"It makes sense as to why you couldn't go to Hogwarts now too," Blaise added.

"Daphne is going to die when she finds out," Millie exclaimed.

"You can't tell her Mil," Pansy drawled, "It's obviously a secret for only the people here."

"He would've said that if he meant for it to be a secret," Amira corrected, "I think he meant for word to get out."

"He wants the headmaster to hear about you," Theo nodded. "Wicked."

"Are you really that powerful?" Pansy asked, crossing her arms. "You can't be that good. You're only fifteen."

"Are you questioning the Dark Lord?" Amira asked with an elegant brow raise. She sipped her champagne while Pansy panicked.

"Of course not," she spat. She turned and left them.

"Let me get you another drink," Blaise said, "Anyone who gets Pansy worked up has my respect."

"The Dark Lord's endorsement wasn't enough?" Theo teased. Blaise rolled his eyes and walked away. Their teasing no longer made Draco feel threatened.

The rest of the night passed mostly smoothly.

Amira and Draco danced a few more times and talked to a lot more people. They drank champagne, ate cookies, and chatted mostly with Draco's friends. Draco cut himself off as soon as he started feeling warm.

Amira seemed tipsy for sure, but controlled. She was laughing and seemed a lot lighter. It was adorable, even if she was a bit of a light-weight.

Their guests started to leave around midnight. When the room was about half empty, his parents came to bid them goodnight.

"Have fun dear," Narcissa told him, "Us older people need to go to bed."

"Alright, goodnight mother," Draco said, "Father."

Lucius nodded and surveyed the room, "Keep an eye on her, some of these people have had too much to drink."

Draco nodded. Amira was fine, she was chatting just off to the side with a seventh year girl from Hogwarts. But Draco did notice several older men looking her way. He was confident that they would be fine, but he was glad he'd stopped drinking.

About thirty minutes later Amira looked at him.

"Can we leave?" she asked. Her eyes were a little unfocused, and Draco could tell she was trying to hold it together. He cursed himself for not paying attention to what she had been drinking. He wasn't worried, but it wouldn't due for anyone to see Amira stumbling out of the ball.

"Yes of course love," he said naturally. He took her arm.

"Goodnight everyone," he said to his friends. Pansy, Blaise, and Theo had already left. Millie waved and Greg and Vince nodded but didn't speak, as was the usual for them.

He led Amira out of the room and up the stairs to their hallway. On the way out, a few men started to make their way over, but one glare from Draco halted them in their tracks.

He helped her with her dress up the stairs.

"You have fun?" he asked her.

"Yeah," she giggled, and Draco could tell she was feeling pretty good. "I'm tired though."

"Well, let's get you to bed then," he said. She tried to push open the door, but missed the handle.

He laughed and opened it for her. Her dress was getting in her way, so he helped her sit down on the small couch. He bent down to take off her heels first.

“You’re like a prince,” she said. He had no idea what she was talking about. “Prince charming.”

“Alright,” he said, setting the shoes aside. Then he debated how to take her dress off. They weren’t quite there in their relationship, but he was wondering if she was capable on her own.

He decided to tackle the jewelry first. He helped unclasp the necklace and take out her large earrings, being careful not to poke her.

“Can you take down my hair?” she asked adorably, “It kind of hurts.”

“Er…” he debated calling his mother for assistance.

“I can do it,” she announced and stood to go to the bathroom.

She swayed dangerously but kept walking. He hurried after her.

“I can help,” he assured her, “I just… don’t know how?”

She didn’t listen to him and started to take out the pins and put them on the sink. He followed her lead. Soon, her curls were falling down over her shoulders.

She sat down on the edge of the bath.

“I’m tired,” she admitted.

“You need to get out of your dress, and then you can sleep,” he told her. “And you should drink some water, and maybe have a snack first.”

She just looked up at him.

“Er, okay,” he said, “Come on.”
He helped her up and back to the bedroom. He walked behind her and undid the highest clasp of her dress. Then he worked his way down. He was dismayed to find there was also a zipper.

“Okay, I think you can step out now,” he said, hoping that she was wearing something underneath.

She was, thankfully. Unfortunately, she was wearing a classic corset that had so many ties that Draco balked.

“Ok, let me undo those,” he sighed. He slowly worked his way through untying the corset.

Finally, she was left in some modest undergarments, and Draco did his best only to look at her face respectfully. He grabbed some of her pajamas for her. She put them on happily.

“You need to change too,” she said.

“Yes, I’ll be right back,” he told her.

“I’ll come with you,” she said.

Draco sighed and called for a house elf to set a snack for them in her room when they returned, and to clean up her strewn clothes.

In his room, he quickly went to the bathroom and changed into pajamas as fast as he could while Amira looked out at the night sky from his window.

He came back to find her hand pressed to the glass with a concentrated look on her face.

“Amira?” he asked.

“So many wards,” she murmured.

“Yeah, maybe let’s not use a lot of magic while we’re under the influence,” he suggested, and gently pulled her hand away.

He led her back to her room. He fed her water, and then made sure she ate some crackers before tucking her into bed.

Amira was really a sweet drunk. She didn’t say much, and just did as she was told with wide and trusting eyes. She smiled and laughed at everything.

She sat up after Draco laid down next to her and turned off the lamp.

“Let’s sleep love,” he suggested.

“I don’t want to sleep,” she said. She crawled over him and kissed him softly. He kissed her back and stroked her hair.

She started to pick up the pace and Draco broke away.

“We need to sleep baby,” he encouraged. She just kissed him again.

“I want to do this,” she murmured. Draco didn’t want to deny her, but he wasn’t going to do things with her while she was drunk.

“I know,” he said. He sat up and held her hands in a comforting, but also restraining way. “And we can tomorrow if you still want to, you’re tired remember?”

She yawned then. It was cute.

“Yeah,” she sighed tiredly. She laid down next to him. “Cuddles?”

“Of course,” he laughed and gathered her into his arms. She was asleep in seconds, and he sighed contentedly. It wasn’t long before he drifted into sleep after her.
