Chapter 7

Remus's pov

Tomorrow's the full moon I thought dully, staring at the wall of my shared bedroom. I'd been sharing it with Sirius for the last 3 weeks.

It must have been his room old room, what with all its red and gold decor. Griffindor banners hung from the ceiling, muggle posters of motorcycles and men and women in bathing suits plastered the walls. Padfoot must have put a sticking charm on them to have them still here after all these years.

Seemly out of place however, were the drawings. A child's scribbled really, most of magical creatures and nature. I glanced fondly at the ones by my bedside.

Athena and Harry had made them the day after they arrived. I smiled remembering the little boys proud face as he showed me his slightly lopsided griffin

He wasn't half bad either, making Sirius jump up and down.

"It's a sign Moony! He'll be in griffindor for sure!" The animagus cheered. I had smiled, but my thoughts had grown more concerned.

How were we to send him to hogwarts? To school at all? Sabine said she'd been sort of homeschooling Athena, but would she do it for Harry. Certainly not.

"Lupin? Can I come in?" Speak of the devil, her voice startled me out of my thoughts. It sounded like Sabine.

"Come in." I rasped, my bone cracking uncomfortably as I turned in bed. She came in, balancing a tray in one arm and a book in the other.

"Good morning Lupin, just thought I'd bring you up something to eat, ruddy stairs!" She hummed kindly, setting the tray down beside me.

It had an apple, some toast with some sort of spread on it, and a glass of milk. Sick food. "I know it's not much, but eating something might make you feel better."

I reluctantly took a bite of toast, surprised at it's taste. The spread was peanut butter! I hadn't had peanut butter in a very long time, it being a very muggle product. I was pretty sure Sirius had never even had it.

"You'd better keep this away from Padfoot, he'd go go mad for it." I laughed weakly. She smiled, handing me the glass of milk.

"So, Padfoot?" Sabine asked lightly, giving her trademark smirk. I groaned and closed my eyes, much to her amusement.

"It's an old nickname from school, all of our friends had one."

"So what's yours then?" She asked, adjusting the covers.

"Moony. Surprised you haven't heard Sirius use it yet." I hummed in reply, leaning back down on the pillow.

"Can I...ask you a question, about you and Sirius?" Sabine avoided my eyes, instead choosing to fiddle with a loose thread on her jeans.

I sighed ruefully and I nodded. "Why was Sirius in prison, and now that he's out, why did he come to you?"

I stared at her, unsure on what to do. She looked genial, then again, so had Peter I reasoned once again.

"He was framed." I said flatly, pulling away from her.

"For what?" Sabine probed.I stiffened at the question.

"I can't tell you that."

She looked disappointed, but didn't pry, instead changing the subject. "Are you to together?"

I glared at her, this was not going well. "I've already told you no." The question stung a little.

"We're you ever together, if you don't make no me asking?".I snorted at that, Sabine didn't seem like the type to apologize for her bluntness.

"Once..." I trailed off, lost in a flood of memories.

A small, black haired boy on the train who shared his sweets with the equally small, mousy-haired Remus.

Third-year Sirius holding my hand as we stood on the astronomy tower because I didn't like heights.

The dishonored black's proud face as he transformed back to padfoot in fifth year, that warm funny feeling filling my chest again.

Back atop the astronomy tower, leaning forward for that first kiss after the Quidditch finals-

I shook myself, blinking to clear tears out of my eyes. Sabine had taken my hand, her swirling eyes just turning back into their normal brown.

I snatched my hand away, glaring at her. "You had no right to do that, those are my personal- they were none of your business." I rambled.

She looked upset."I can't help it! I can only make them happen, not stop them!" I glared harder .

"Well, now I've mucked it up, haven't I?" Sabine huffed.

"Look, I know you don't like me, I... unnerve you. But we've all got to live in this house together, like it or not." She stated firmly

I snorted again, she acts like she's obligated to be here i thought. "Trust me, I know more about being unnerving then you'll ever know." I replied.

Shooting me an uncertain glacé, she huffed "Your very aggravating, you know that?"

I chuckled, wincing sorely. "Really, that's usually more up Sirius's ally?" I hummed mockingly, earning a light slap on the wrist.

"Gits, the lot of you." The dark-haired women muttered, shaking her head. She offered back up the other slice of toast and I resolutely took it.

Resting her elbow on her knee and her chin on her hand, she smirked, not unlike Sirius in our marauder days. "Your funny, I reckon I could use a friend like you." She hummed.

"We aren't friends." I answered seriously, shooting her a look.

"We're not enemies-" she countered "Voldemort is the only enemy I need."

"You said his name!" I said in surprise. The only other person I knew that used his name was Dumbledore, and he's, well, Dumbledore.

Sabine's face hardened, "That bastered killed my parents, the least I can call him is his name.". Solid I couldn't help but think

"He's everyone's enemy." I countered, confused as her face brightened.

"Exactly! And you know what they always say? The enemy of my enemy is my friend."

Hard to argue with that logic i stiffened again. "You don't want me as your friend " I tried to reason, but the seer was having none of it.

"Of course I do. I'll need someone to help me cut through the childishness and masculinity ever once and a while. No offense!"

"How could I not take offense to-" I began indignantly, but she cut me off.

"Come on! I can be your wing women! You'll need a wing women to help you get back with your man~" Sabine hummed, quirking her eyebrows up.

"Sirius is not my anything!" I shot back, trying not to let the words sting.

"Not yet- that's why you need my help to get back with him!" She exclaimed.

I sighed in defeat. "I don't want to get back with him" I ground out. lies Lies LIES!

Sabine took this in stride. "What happened? Bad break up?" The tension lessened.

"The ministry convicted him for a crime he didn't commit and throw him in Azkaban for the last five years, that sound bad to you?"

She had the nerve to smirk. "That's where I come in~" Sabine hummed back, tilting to the side.

"Please~" the seer trilled. Shooting one last annoyed look her way, I sighed in defeat. "Fine." I relented.

"Yes! We are going to have to much fun you and I!" Sabine cheered, going to hug me and then remembering I was "sick".

"Well, my missions complete, rest up! You'll need your strength!" The seer exclaimed, jumping up to grab my tray.

"Did you bring food just to bribe me?" I asked, barley catching her sly smile. "I will never tell." She hummed, walking away and closing the door behind her.

I groan once more as I rolled up over to face the wall. "What have you gotten yourself into this time old man." I mumbled to myself. Another quiet knock sounded at the door and I grimaced. I liked the girl, sure, but I would have really liked a nap!

"Remus?" A voice called a while later, rousing me from my sleep. "Come in!" I called wearily, unsure on how to react to Sirius after the conversation I'd just had.

The animagus came to stand next to my bed (no on the bed I couldn't help but notice) and smiled. He looked better then he had in days, the smell of clean laundry emanating in the air. He was dressed in my spear pair of jeans (we'd have to get more cloths soon, for us and Harry) and a "Fuck The Republic" shirt. He looked, better now, more him.

"You ready for tonight?" He asked lightly, no judgment in his voice.

"Are you?" I asked, fear ate at me. If something happened, If I-

"It'll be fine Moony, stop making that face." Sirius reassured, patting gently on my covers.

I froze, Moony, he called me Moony. I played it off, nervous laughter bubbling in my throat. My insides glimmered (cringe I know).

The escapees grin widened. "Exactly, just relax, I'll be right here the whole time." He hummed encouragingly.

I shook my head. "Your sure it's safe?" I repeated cautiously. He nodded, mirth draining into seriousness. "There's no safer place in England!" Sirius homed.

Taking a shaky breath, I nodded. "Alright." I confirmed.

He smiled once more, I was pleased at how much better he looked with a bit of food and some clean clothes. Happy he was happy.

"Rest up, you'll need it." He hummed, slowly brushing a bit of my hair out of my eyes as I fell back asleep.
