Chapter 2

Harry's POV

He wouldn't admit it out loud, but Harry didn't like the man his godfather had come to visit. His face was scary, covered in scars, his eyes flashing as he yelled.

Harry looked back up at his godfather, Sirius(or sometimes Padfoot) in wonder.

It had only been a few days and he still couldn't believe it. He was free from the Dursleys!

Sure, they had been on the run (Sirius had turned it into a sort of game), but he'd more fun today then he'd had his entire life. It seemed to good to be true, all of this.

That's when they had come to see the man.

Sirius had told him where they were going the night before, almost jumping with glee. But Harry hadn't, instead he had worried.

Why we they meeting someone? Sirius had told him they couldn't meet people, that bad guys were trying to get them. Was this man a bad guy?

He was yelling at his godfather, clearly very angry. He'd made Sirius sad as well, his voice cracking at times.

Yet... there was something oddly familiar about him. Like he'd seen him before.

"Which finger?" The man had asked. They were talking instead of yelling now, the man (Remus was his name) seemed less angry.

Harry didn't understand. What finger? Should he ask Sirius, he always knew the answers. No, remember what aunt Petunia said?

Children should be seen and not heard boy! Now get out of my sight!"

Ya, probably not for the best

"Why is Harry here" the scar faced man asked tiredly, once again glancing over at him

Harry winced, Uncle Vernon had often talked like that. Usually before locking him in his cupboard for the day. Sirius seemed to notice, as did the man.

"It's alright Pronglet, he didn't mean it like that."

Ah Sirius, he had to be Harry's favorite person in the whole world by now. Surly anything he said was alright really was.

Harry stared at the scared man again. He looked sad, like Harry had looked before padfoot rescued him. Maybe they were here to save him too.

"Uncle Sirius saved me, I don't want to go back!" Harry said sternly, putting on his best no-nonsense face.

Both men smiled, which made him deflate a bit. They shared a look, like they were reading each other's minds (which Harry was definitely NOT jealous of) before the scar-faced man stood

"Do you know who I am,Harry?" The man asked hesitantly. Harry shook his head weakly, waiting for the man to start yelling.

Grownup's hated when you didn't remember stuff, Aunt Petunia would screech at him and Uncle Vernon would lock him up. But nothing came, the man just sighing sadly.

"That's alright Harry, you were very little when they- the last time we met." Harry pondered this.

Little? He must have been a baby Harry decided, because he was sure he would have remembered such a strange man if they'd met before.

"My name is Remus Lupin, and it is very nice to meet you." The man- Remus, said, holding his hand out to shake.

Harry took it nervously, the man's hands shook slightly, like he was afraid too. " I knew you parents-"

"You knew my mummy and daddy!?" Harry exclaimed, forgetting his fear for a moment.

Remus grimaced a bit, but answered shakily "yes, we were very good friends."

"Your dad was our best friend!" Sirius interjected, ruffling his hair. Harry was stunned, they knew his mom and dad?

"That is why we're here prongslet, I needed to talk to moony about something." His godfather announced cheerfully.

Harry missed the look of agreement that passed between the two man before Remus cleared his throat.

"Harry, could you do me a bit of a favor? Could you go play in the living room for a moment?” Sirius asked, voice still just as cheerful.

Harry frowned, "Why? I want to stay with you." He asked meekly.

Sirius softened a bit, putting a gentle hand on his cheek. "I know cub, but me and moody have some old people stuff to talk about."

"I'm plenty old!" The seven-year-old insisted, puffing up his chest.

"Not for this talk prongslet, just be a good lad and play in the living room, it won't take long."

Harry drooped and scooted off his chair in defeat. Remus opened the door and pushed him through gently, muttering something about a tv.

Harry sighed, when grownups said they needed to talk and that they wouldn't take long, it always meant they'd take an extra long time, everyone knew that.

Harry made his way into the small living room and sat on the ratty couch. The room itself looked old and a bit shabby, with enough dust to make aunt Petunia faint.

Harry grinned, it was wonderful. A small television sat in the corner, no remote in sight. But what caught Harry's attention was the walls.

Each and every one of them was covered in bookshelves. Books of all shapes and sizes were crammed inside, looking really to explode.

Harry quite enjoyed reading, Miss fig always ready to hand over Cat's for Dummies: Volume 8 when she babysat.

Could he read one? Surly no one would notice, and he'd put it right back.

Decision made, the little boy hopped of the couch and began to run his fingers over the book spines.

After a while, he found one. Alice in Wonderland , was tucked between two large cook books and could have been missed had he not been careful.

Pulling it out, he blew a cloud of dust off its top cover, sneezing a little. Scurrying back to the well worn couch, he settled in.

Just relax he told himself as he flipped to the first page. No one's gunna hurt you, Dudley isn't even here.

And with that, he began to read.
