“Oh come on, James.” Sirius said after James let out a sigh for the millionth time since they got on the train. “He is literally on the train with us.” They were on the train to Hogwarts for their seventh year. Regulus and James had started dating last year around Christmas and James hadn't seen his boyfriend since the previous year had ended. He missed him incredibly hard, but Sirius thought he was exaggerating.
“Yeah,” James replied with a dreary look in his eyes. “And I'm not allowed to go to him.”
“You'll see him soon.” Sirius said, a bit frustrated. Remus nudged him to get his attention.
“Have some mercy on him, he hasn't seen Regulus since last year ended.”
“He hasn’t seen me since then either.” Sirius said, stubbornly crossing his arms.
“That's not true Sirius, you visited him at the end of July, remember? And that's different.”
“What do you mean?” Sirius asked, looking at his boyfriend as if he had offended him. “That I mean less to him or something?” Remus shook his head, well aware of Sirius' jealousy and fear of losing his best friend.
“No, but you're not the one he wants to snog and kiss, are you?” Remus whispered. Sirius’ eyes grew wider in horror, Remus could only guess what kind of scenarios he was thinking of. He laughed. Sirius huffed.
“I missed you this summer and I don’t act like that.” He said, refusing to stop arguing. Remus rolled his eyes.
“That’s because I'm right here, Regulus isn't, as you can see.” He deadpanned.
“I never act like that when I haven't seen you for two months.” Sirius continued foolishly.
“Oh, that’s true,” Peter agreed. “You act like that after five minutes.”
Remus laughed loudly and Sirius crossed his arms turning to the window. James sighed gloomily.
“Don’t be sad James,” Peter said sympathetically. “You'll see him in a few hours.”
“I don’t think I can wait that long.” James whined dramatically.
“Oh please,” Sirius muttered, receiving an elbow in his ribs from Remus.
“You've lasted two months, I think you can do without him for a few more hours.” Remus assured, while glaring at his boyfriend.
“I suppose,” James sighed, looking out of the window.

The train arrived at Hogwarts around six o'clock. The four Marauders left the train as some of the first students.
“Come on let's go. The feast is about to start.” Sirius said, enthusiastically.
“Go ahead, I'm waiting for Regulus.” James said gesturing towards the path to the castle.
“I’ll wait with you, then.” Sirius decided. Remus put a hand on the small of his back.
“I’ll stay too.” He said.
“Me too.” Peter said quickly.
“Okay,” James smiled at them.
“Everybody hurry up, the feast is about to begin!” Professor McGonagall called out. “Potter, Black, Lupin, Pettigrew, you too. Walk along.”
“But Professor, we're waiting for someone.” James protested.
“You must go straight to the school, Mr. Potter. You can see them later.” She said sternly.
“But..” James let out a sigh.
“I'm sorry,” Professor McGonagall gave him an apologetic smile.
“Come on,” Remus said. “You'll see him after the feast.” He whispered.
“Alright,” James sighed softly, making his way towards the big gate. The other Marauders followed him, discussing which food from the feast they were most excited about. He was about to mount one of the carriages, that would bring him to the castle, when someone stopped him.
“Alright there, Potter?” The clear voice of Regulus Black sounded. James turned immediately, a smile appearing on his face.
“Reggie!” He shouted loudly. While laughing, he ran to his boyfriend. He picked him up, squeezing him close as he twirled around. Regulus giggled.
“Put me down!” He protested.
“Never!” James said, hugging him tightly.
“James please, I'm getting dizzy.” Regulus laughed. The eager Gryffindor put him down, still holding him in his arms.
“I missed you so much.” He murmured into his hair.
“I missed you too, James.” Regulus wrapped his arms around his neck. “You shrank.” He noted. James let out a breathy laugh.
“You've grown taller, Reg.” He argued.
“Oh right,” The younger boy said. “I'm finally getting taller than you.”
“You're still smaller than I am, love.” James winked at him.
“But not for long.” Regulus smirked.
“Hmm, we’ll see about that.” James laughed.
“Oi Prongs, you coming or what?” Sirius called. He and the other Marauders were already sitting in the carriage.
“Yeah alright!” James called back. “You coming?” He asked Regulus sweetly.
“There are not enough seats for five people.” The Slytherin answered.
“What a shame, I'll have to serve as your seat then.” James said earning a smile from his boyfriend. He pecked his lips before dragging him to the carriage.
“Seriously?” Sirius said as James pulled Regulus onto his lap.
“Yes.” James stated, nuzzling Regulus’ jaw.
“Jealous, brother?” Regulus teased, raising a perfect brow.
“Yes.” Sirius pouted.
“Aww, do you want to sit in my lap too?” Remus asked, playing along.
“Yes,” Sirius nodded, batting his eyelashes sadly. Remus pulled him onto his lap.
“There, better?” He asked amused.
“Yes,” Sirius said, hiding his face in the crook of the werewolf’s neck. Regulus smiled at the scene. He leaned against his own boyfriend, intertwining his fingers with his. Peter let out a sad sigh.
“Oh Pete, are you feeling lonely?” James asked, half teasing and half concerned.
“No, but I'm stuck with you sappy lot.” Peter replied, making the other four laugh.
“You’ll find someone, Pete.” Remus assured, patting him on the back.
“If I don’t bash my head in before I do. I might suffocate in this walm of sappy lovey-dovey ness you guys radiate.” Peter replied jokingly.
“You're just jealous.” Sirius replied, sticking out his tongue.
“Of you? Never.” Peter replied with a laugh. The others all laughed as well. They fell into a comfortable silence.
“You sitting with us during the feast?” James asked Regulus in a soft whisper.
“I don’t know,” The Slytherin murmured in reply. “Professor McGonagall will kill me if she notices.” He turned to look at James.
“I’ll protect you from her.” He said and Regulus let out a soft laugh.
“My saviour.” He muttered fondly.
“Is that a yes then?” James asked staring deep into his eyes. Regulus pressed a soft kiss to his lips.
“Yes.”
James smiled. Regulus loved his smile so much. He sighed softly.
“What?” James asked, confusion mingling with the loving look in his eyes.
“Nothing,” Regulus kissed James again. “I just missed you.”
“I missed you too.” James replied.
“I hate that I can't see you during the holidays.”
“I do too. Maybe I can arrange something for Christmas?”
Regulus sighed, shaking his head. “You know how my parents are, they will never allow me to go to your house.”
“It worked with Sirius.”
“Yeah, but it's different with me. They will never allow me to go.”
“It's worth a try.” James insisted. Regulus chuckled.
“You tireless Gryffindor.”
“That’s me.” James grinned stupidly, his eyes sparkling with happiness. God Regulus loved him. He cupped his cheeks and kissed him sweetly.
“What was that for?” James asked, smile never leaving his face. Regulus pressed their foreheads together.
“I love you.” He whispered.
“I love you too.” James replied, hugging him closer and burying his head in Regulus’ robes.
“Ugh,” Sirius interrupted. “You two are bloody adorable, I'm gonna throw up.”
“Pads!” Remus slapped him playfully. “You ruined their moment!”
“I agree with Sirius, for once.” Peter added, dodging Remus' hand.
Regulus and James smiled ridiculously. Merlin, those two were so in love.
