"I love you, Ronald Weasley"
Summary
A proper Ron and Hermione love confession, takes place after the Battle of Hogwarts.

Hermiones POV:

The rain engulfed the pair in a current of downpour, Ron and Hermione were alone except for the field surrounding them. The first time they had found solitude in a long while, nobody but them, no one at all.

Ron looked at Hermione, his eyes barely able to meet hers, looking over her with a sense of lust and yearning. She longed to take him in her arms, to feel herself get lost in his presence. But she knew better.

"Hermione," his voice cracked, and at last his eyes met hers. She was afraid of what he was going to say, afraid to loose something so precious to her, after already dealing with so much loss.

"Yes," she managed to say, feeling herself drawn to him even more so.

"I love you," he burst out, looking like he did not even plan such an outburst. "I have loved you for so long, I couldn't stand seeing you with Krum, wishing so bad it was me that was holding you, I know it isn't right, I didn't even ask you to the ball until the last second, and then of course I dated Lavender years later, I have wronged you, I know I have but if you could just let me know how you feel, please I can't take this feeling anymore I just need to know-"

"I love you, Ronald Weasley," Hermione gasped and grabbed his cheeks with both of her hands. He wrapped his arms around her waist and hugged her near. Their lips collided in a matter of seconds and he tasted like the rain water surrounding them. She dipped her head and laid it in the crook of his neck and stayed there, feeling at once, at home.

"Hermione I'm so scared," Ron muttered. And she knew instantly what he meant, he was scared of losing her. They had lost so much. The War was over, but at what cost? Could either of them bare losing anything else?

"I won't ever leave you Ron," she whispered against him. Meaning it with every ounce of her being. "Never."

"You promise?" He said and Hermione could swear she heard his voice crack. He had just lost his brother not long ago, she understood the sensation he was going through.

"Ronald, we are going to grow old together and bicker until everyone is so sick of us that they refuse to show up to any parties that we host," she looked up at him then. "You know I have always loved you?" Hermione loved the way the words felt coming out of her mouth.

Ron laid his hand on her cheek and gazed right through her. "Well I have always loved you more," he laughed.

"You have not, I loved you first, and I love you more," Hermione looked offended.

"Hermione, I most certainly loved you first and love you more," he grinned.

"Ron-" she began but he cut her off with a kiss, when they broke apart he suggested they go find their friends. He grabbed her wet hand into his and entwined their fingers. Off they went in the rain, knowing throughout everything, they would always have one another.
