Narcissa

They were doomed from the start.

Narcissa reminded herself, her maniac of a sister cackling beside her, arm looped around her just as mental of a husband.

"Oh, I am soooo delighted my wittle, ittle, baby sister agreed to come with us," Bellatrix said excited, barely holding in her shy giggles as the dark lord nodded his head in amusement, giving Bellatrix a smirk of approval.

Out of the corner of her eye Narcissa saw Rudolphus pull Bellatrix closer to him, the woman letting out a loud, barking laugh.

Barty shifted uncomfortably, Rabastan crossing his arms, looking over wearily at his brother and sister in law.

Narcissa closed her eyes, blocking it all out, Bellatrixs laugh and need for approval from the one person it would be awful to receive it from, Bartys grin, Rabastans boredom with the whole horrendous ordeal, the dark lords smirk and occasional laughter, Rudolphus' constant jealousy, Frank's begging, and her, her wonderland, her Alice...

We were doomed from the start, we were doomed from the start, we were doomed from the start, we were doomed from the-

Alice's curly, dark brown bob was sprawled out on Narcissas lap, the blondes fingers twisting around some curls as Alice rambled about all the things she's passionate about.

Quidditch, animals (Mainly cats), plants and flowers, books, David Bowie (a muggle singer, Narcissa had made sure to remember), knitting (Alice was doing that now, making a yellow jumper for her, despite popular belief, yellow was Narcissas favourite colour, not that anyone cared or tried to ask, everyone except Alice), and her.

Narcissa didn't know if Alice meant to, or even realised she was doing it as she wnt on and on, complimenting her golden hair that felt as if it shined in an ombre sunset, her grey eyes that seemed warm and welcoming, apparently one of the first things that made Alice decide that Narcissa was truly trustworthy, her button nose, the way her lips curved when she smiled, the small freckles that became most prominent in the summer, the way her cheeks flushed at random times, a stark comparison to her naturally pasty skin, that Alice also admired.

It was safe to say that Narcissa felt herself going red at the other girls compliments, for a split second she felt confidence in herself, all the confidence her mother stripped away, coming back to her for a split second.

Alice must have snapped out of her zoned out haze because when she came to, her head snapped to the other girls direction.

"Oh merlin, please tell me I didn't say all that out loud," Alice complains, hiding her face in her hands.

Narcissa, suppressing giggles as Alice goes into a sitting position, groaning into her hands, the blonde following, rapping her arms around the brunettes waist, snuggling her face into the crook of the darker skinned girls neck.

"You did, love,"

"Ohhhhhhh, Cissa forget I said anything," Alice muttered, shaking her head, chuckling a little.

Narcissa kissed Alice's neck, scooting over to sit infront of the girl.

"Hey," Narcissa said, holding onto the other girls wrists, slowly drawing them away from her face.

Alice opened here eyes, hazel looking softly into grey, slowly pressing their lips together in a beautiful haze of nothingness except the love they held for eachother, no war, no sides, no arranged marriages, no boys their parents would approve of, just them.

"We'll make it, I promise Cissa, we're not doomed,"

Narcissa re-opened her eyes, doing the one thing she promised herself she wouldn't, she looked down at the two victims at their feet, Frank and Alice Longbottom...

She felt Bellatrixs' hands pulling her blonde hair away from her head, Bellatrixs face so close to hers, mouth by her ear.

"Do it Cissy, c'mon baby sister..."

Bellatrix abruptly stood back at Narcissas hesitation, rage flickering behind her steel eyes.

"DO IT"

Narcissa could hear the muffled pleads from the both of them, her gaze drifted over Frank, but instead settled on Alice, her previous short hair, now long enough to be tied up, her already mixed skin darker now with a tan, and the most noticeable change...

The gold band wrapped around her finger...

"C'mon Cis, do it," Barty jeered, wand already pointed at Frank.

As Narcissa looked into the hazel eyes she once found so much comfort in, she felt a all consuming hatred fill her, burning her insides up.

So she wasn't thinking when she took the wand from her pocket, and she wasn't thinking as she pointed it at the love of her life, she just wasn't thinking.

To successfully cast the crutiatus curse is difficult, you're supposed to feel a sense of rage, one so unimaginable to a normal, everyday person, that it, the hatred within itself was enough to drive the caster mad.

But she wasn't angry as she heard Alice's cries and pleads, she wasn't angry, she was resentful, two entirely different things...

"I like you, so much Narcissa,"

Narcissas skin flushed, though this time there was a reason.

"I like you a lot you too, Alice,"

"I don't care what people say, you're nothing like them."

Narcissas hands gripped her arms, turning her knuckles white.

"How can you be so sure?"

"ALICE, STOP TRYING TO CARE, YOU DONT CARE FOR ME, YOU NEVER EVEN LIKED ME

" I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH CISSA,"Alice said, gasping for breath.

"Y-you don't understand, I think about you morning noon and night, I can not stop thinking about you in class, in bed, in the great hall, I always scan the Slytherin table in hopes of finding your face, s- so i do care Cissa, more than you can comprehend."

Silence...

"I-I love you too Alice,"

She tried to stop herself after she screamed that word, the one that took her life and her Alice's away with it.

"CRUCIO"

Everything was silent, no sound penetrated Narcissas bubble as she stood rigid, deathly grip on her wand.

"Bellatrix calm yourself," she heard the Lord say, though to her it sounded only a whisper as she watched the betrayed look in her Wonderlands eyes fade into nothing, a sheet of grey hiding her once hazel eyes.

Alice's life flickered away into a dim, poor excuse, of a soul, and with it, Narcissas heart...

"We were doomed from the start," She whispered, closing her eyes and letting a single tear fall, Bellatrixs manic cackling, Bartys sniggering, Rabastans shuffling, Rudolphus' soft chuckles and the dark lords hissing like laughter came crashing down on her as her world went numb.
