The bell rung, it was time for lunch. Elphaba waved goodbye to her teacher before linking arms with her best friend, Penny.
âBut did you see what he posted on his OzGram story last night? It was obviously a thirst trap made for me!â Penny spoke as she led them to their lunch table. The two sat, their other friends greeting them.
âNo, I did not see his OzGram story, you are the only one who keeps up with that loserâ Elphaba shades, which resulted in a loud gasp leaving her friendâs mouth.
âWell, for starters heâs not a loser! Heâs captain of the wrestling team!â She argued and Elphaba laughed. âMy point still stands.â
âHey! Just because your girlfriend is the most popular girl in school doesnât mean you get to ridicule my taste!â She points a finger at Elphaba.
âYou know I didnât mean it like that, Iâm sorry,â Elphaba genuinely apologized, not intending to be rude to her best friend.
Penny smiled, âI know, Elphaba, Iâm just messing with you!â A small hug is given before itâs interrupted.
âSpeaking of the popular girlfriend, here she comes.â A friend of Elphaba spoke.
They all put their attention to where Galinda was, walking in with her crew of minions following behind her.
She and Elphaba locked eyes and Galinda immediately changed directions, causing her to push a student out of the way.
âHey! You made me drop my tray!â The student argued as he looked down to the floor, then back at Galinda with irritation.
She sized him up and down before laughing, âLooks like I just did you a favor, out of my way.â She palmed his forehead, sending him further back, before continuing her way to Elphaba.
âGalinda. That was mean.â Elphaba urged as soon as Galinda was in listening distance.
âMy darling! I havenât seen you all day.â She ignored, leaning down and kissed Elphabaâs cheek.
âDonât ignore me, that was rude. You should apologize.â
Galinda smiled, humming as she observed Elphaba, taking a fresh twist of hair in her hand and twirling it slightly.
âWell, you know how terrible I am when it comes to apologizing to anyone other than you, donât you my sweet Elphie?â
Elphaba couldnât help but to blush at the nickname. âBut that still isnât justifiable Galinda-â
âI love your hair today.â She cut her off, complimenting the fresh twists that sat nicely in a low ponytail, excluding a few twists.
Elphaba blushed, âReally? It took me all nightâ
âLove, love, love.â Glinda smiled.
A great smile appeared on Galindaâs face before it immediately disappearing after noticing the uninterested and uneasy expressions on all of Elphabaâs friendâs faces.
âWell, hello everyone!â Galinda exclaimed with a bright, yet fake smile. âWhatâs with the long faces? You all look soââ Then she caught sight of who was next to Elphaba, and her expression dropped.
âPenelope.â
âGalinda.â
It was evident that Elphaba's girlfriend and best friend didn't get along. Something Elphaba tried to diffuse for a while.
The two continued their staring contest until Elphaba spoke. âNot today you too!â She looked behind her to face Galinda. âIâll see you later okay? Still driving me home?â Elphaba dismissed Galinda, trying to prevent conflict.
It was obvious that Galinda took offense. She stepped away, nodded and walked away. Rather quickly and sassy.
âGosh, the sun is beaming again.â Penny joked, causing the table to laugh along with her.
âI donât know how youâre still with her. Sheâs fucking rude, and mean to everyone. Even her friends!â One spoke up, the others agreed in unison.
âGuys, sheâs honestly not that bad.. She just has some things to improve on, but sheâs working on them.â Elphaba tried to defend her girlfriend.
âNo one likes her at this school but you and her clique, and you say she isnât that bad?â Penny scoffed.
âPenny, enough. I will handle this, Iâll talk to her about it.â
âGood, because next time I will.â Penny grabbed her belongings and stood up from the table. âIâll catch you later. I have tutoring today.â It was clear that Pennyâs mood was ruined by the presence of Galinda.
â..Oh, okay. Bye?â Elphaba was confused on the rush but nevertheless, she brushed it off.
âYeah, us too.â A girl at the table mumbled, before her and the others got up and walked off as well.
That was strange, Elphaba thought to herself. She let out a sigh, putting on her black Beats and pulling out her brand new dark green Shizphone that her dad had just bought for her.
She went to Ozify, went to her favorite playlist and music filled her ears. She began humming as she pulled out a book, killing time until her next class.
Now what am I going to say to Galinda?
