Chapter 1
Where am I?
Waiting for the bus to arrive is one of the times in lifetime just slows down to a snail pace. It feels like you have been standing in the rain on your tired feet for hours when in reality only about a minute has passed. At least that’s how it feels to me now.
Well anyways that’s what I was doing but suddenly the world around me turned fuzzy, I just thought it was because of the rain but then the scene around me changed. One second, I was standing on a desolated bus stop in nowhere land and the next I find myself surrounded by people on a train station and instead of my phone there was a letter in my hand while in my other one I felt the weight of a suitcase.
I don’t know about you but as far as I’m aware that is not how reincarnations work, since you know, you are supposed to die first. So how would any sane person react in this situation? That’s right they slap themselves.
And low and behold nothing changed I still stood on a train station somewhere. So, the next logical step is of course to open the letter that magically appeared in my hand, at the time I was not aware of how true these words rung.
Anyways, the next thing I did was take a look at the letter and scream. Yes, not my most dignified moment, but how would you react when you suddenly held a Hogwarts letter in your hand and realize that the station you were on was probably Kings Cross station and your next realization is that you shrunk back to your eleven-year-old self.
So, there I stood screaming at the top of my lungs until I realized that people were looking at me strangely, so I took a deep breath and made my way closer to platforms nine and ten. Then I opened the letter to read it and yes, the letter included everything the books described. Luckily, my name did not change, or I would have quite the issue here.
I assumed that the suitcase would have all the necessary stuff and when I started looking through my pockets, I also found a wand, which seemed to be quite happy when I touched it, don’t ask how I know it’s happy it’s magic that’s all you have to know.
So, after taking another deep breath I looked at one of the big clocks hanging all around the station and nearly screamed again, because I only had about five minutes left to reach the Hogwarts express or I would be stranded here. I quickly made my way to the barrier, closed my eyes, and hoped for the best while running at the wall.
And, you wouldn’t believe it, made it through, which finally confirmed the fact that I was actually in the world of Harry Potter, and if I am to believe the letter and my memory, in the same year as the Golden trio.
The Hogwarts express really is impressive, though I didn’t have enough time to admire it since I had to heave my bag onto it, which was a much bigger struggle that it has any right to be, stupid noodle arms of my child body.
And no, I have no plans of starting to train my body like all the stories about the overpowered MCs, since let’s be real that’s annoying and useless since I will be able to use magic anyways and if I want to train, I can just joint the Quidditch team, assuming that I can actually ride a broom.
Now that I have made it on the train, I just have to find a place to sit in, shouldn’t be too hard, I can just join other first years.
I was wrong, all the other first years already huddled together in big groups and there was no space left for me, I could look for Harry Potters compartment, but I would like to stay out of the main plot at least for now.
Thus, I walked the train up and down, while pulling my way to heavy bag behind me, like a lost chicken and I probably looked pretty sad like that, since one of the compartment doors suddenly opened and Cedric Diggory pocked his head out. When I saw him I froze like a deer caught in headlights.
Don’t laugh at me first of all he is the first character I saw that I actually recognized, secondly his looks are not what I expected since he doesn’t look like his movie self but instead resembled his book description at least I think so, he has dark hair and grey eyes and that’s about all I could remember, it’s a wonder I recognized him at all.
“Hey there kid everything ok?” as Cedric started speaking, I finally snap out of my stupor, to not further embarrass myself, though I failed this agenda immediately after, by stumbling over my words like a complete idiot. “Yes, yes great I’m great, totally amazing, though I would be even better if there was some place to sit down or if this stupid bag didn’t weigh about as much as I do.”, was the word vomit finally leaving my mouth, it took me a minute to realize what I even said, but when I did I felt the blood rush to my cheeks and quickly ducked my head while mumbling an apology.
It took Diggory a few seconds to digest what I had said but when he did, he kindly invited me to sit with him and his friends. Any other time and I would have declined his preposition, but I was just too tired to keep on walking, so I thanked him profusely and made my way inside.
I was about halfway in when my suitcase decided to get stuck somewhere and I took a tumble to the floor. Honestly, this day was just getting better and better.
In hindsight the reason I stumbled was probably a mix between my suitcase bumping into the side of the door and my new height that I was not used to yet.
But that didn’t matter at the moment the only thing I could feel was that I am completely and utterly overwhelmed. So as anyone would do when they are suddenly stuck in a child’s body, where emotions run much higher than they did in an adult body, and something doesn’t go their way, I started crying.
In addition to that, my emotionally overwhelmed mind decided the best course of action was to just stay there on the floor and hide my face in my arm so no one could see the tears slipping down my face. I know it was stupid but come on give me a break, controlling a child’s emotions is hard especially with everything going on.
I guess one of the older students thought I got hurt or something because he started to poke me until I turned to look in his direction and gave him my best glare, which by the way did not work, like at all. First of tears were still running down my cheeks and my lips were wobbling in an effort to keep all sounds inside. In addition to that was the baby fat or whatever else gave children such round cheeks, which just made me look like an angry chipmunk. Last but not least were my big hazel eyes that just looked like the biggest puppy eyes.
In conclusion, my death glare utterly failed and instead resulted in the older students cooing over me. While Cedric put up my suitcase, that dreadful thing, the other students helped me up and sat me onto one of the seats.
One of the girls, Diana Perry as I later learned, helped me dry my tears, while her friend Vanessa Turner gave me a tight hug, the other boy Lessly Horton, pulled out his bag pack from under the seats and after rummaging through it for a few seconds emerged victoriously with a box full of cupcakes. He gave me one of them since he believed the best way to make someone happy is through food which I agreed on.
I would like to say that I had a very productive conversation with my seniors and learned a lot about Hogwarts, but that would be a lie since I fell asleep in about a minute after finishing the cupcake and only woke back up when Cedric shook me awake ten minutes before we arrived so I could change into my robes.
Before I left, I thanked them all once again and they told me that I was always welcome to find them if I had troubles at Hogwarts, for which I also thanked them.
After that we reached the station and I tried to make my way outside as quickly as possible, a task I nearly failed as I managed to stumble over something and nearly got trampled. Luckily, an older student caught me. Well, even though there were some misshapes on the way I did finally make it to the rest of the first years and the giant form of Rubeus Hagrid.
“Firs’ years! Firs’ years over here” I quickly made my way over to the friendly half-giant and did my best not to fall on my way.
When I reached him, I saw he was talking to a boy who I am fairly sure is Harry Potter, the boy who lived, also known as the stupid MC with plot armour. Well not like I would like to be in his shoes, having a Horcrux in my head doesn’t seem nice.
Caught up in my thoughts I nearly missed when our group started moving, so I had to jog a bit to catch up with them, which was a mistake. I think it has become quite obvious that I’m quite clumsy, so it is no wonder that I started slipping down the slope in my haste to catch up to the group.
I thought this would be my end, I would die rolling down a hill before even reaching Hogwarts. Luckily, it never came to this as suddenly a big hand caught me and got me back on my feet. “All right there, kiddo?” came the booming voice of Hagrid from right in front of me. Embarrassing, I quickly nodded my head and tried to hide in the horde of children, which was a lot harder than it ought to be since I was on the rather tall side when compared to all the other first years, oh well.
The group continued stumbling down the narrow path until finally the path opened onto the edge of a great black lake. Perched atop a high mountain on the other side, its windows sparkling in the stary sky, was a vast castle with many turrets and towers.
Honestly neither the books nor the films could make this sight justice, probably because here when I see it in real life in the world of Harry Potter, I can actually feel the magic surrounding the place, it makes me feel powerful and enhances everything we can see.
The boat ride was comparably uneventful as I sat with some no name characters that I just couldn’t bother to remember. No one fell into the lake so we didn’t get to see the giant squid, and the stone steps where slightly wet witch caused me to be utterly focused on every step, I took just so I wouldn’t fall back down.
“Everyone here? You there, still got yer toad?” Hagrid raised a gigantic fist and knocked three times on the castle door.
