A Different Summer
Theodore Thanatos Nott was the perfect Pureblood Heir. He was Polite, calm, smart and ambitious, at least from the Outside. Theodore has many secrets and he keeps many more.
Theodore keeps the secrets of his Family, a long line of Warriors originally from the North over the Time the Blood mixed with Warriors of Greece.
He keeps the secrets of the other Slytherin’s such as Blaise scared to call his mother anything but ‘Contessa’ or that Daphne is very insecure.
But Theodore keeps his own secrets the closet, he does not like being called Theodore, it reminds him of his Father reprimanding him for showing Joy after his mother's passing, he prefers being called Theo.
Theo doesn’t like most People, he would rather Read than converse with People, he likes the Knowledge he gains from simply opening a Book. He does not need to pretend while Reading.
His Sommer has been quiet for the most part, going to a Ministry Gala with his Father, going to Diagon Alley a few Times for new Books and otherwise just reading and learning new things.
Nott Manor is quiet, like always. The last time it had any sound other than the sounds of soft Footsteps and whispered conversations was when his mother was still alive back when he was only 5 years old. Theo walks through the halls towards the dinner Hall, it is the only meal he and his father share now a days. It is a quiet and tense affair but Theo will take what he can get.
“Good afternoon, Father” Theo enters quietly, sitting down opposite to his father at the large Table patiently waiting to be acknowledged while his father, Lord Kosmas Savvas Nott, is reading the late-night edition of the Prophet
It takes a few moments but eventually Kosmas sets down the papier and nods at Theo
“Theodore.”
Theo knows that is the most acknowledgement he will get and begins to eat, half way through dinner his father speaks up, a rare occasion.
“Theodore, were you aware that Dumbledore has apparently lost the Potter Heir?”
Theo is a bit shocked at that, he was in fact, not aware of this however he has to keep up the Pureblood Mask, otherwise his father will not be Happy.
“Really Father? How did he manage to lose the Heir to one of the oldest and most important houses?”
Kosmas scoffs.
“If I knew, apparently, he made him live with his Muggle Relatives who he claims ‘where loving and took well care of him’ however in that of the House that still stands there is not a single piece of evidence that Potter might have lived there expect for some toys in the Broom closet and a room with a broken dresser and only a shabby old mattress”
If there is one thing Kosmas is passionate about it is the safety of Magical Children, he may not be a good father but he is in no way abusive towards Theo and Theo has never want for anything he just does not show emotional vulnerability or offers any Physical Affection which in itself is Neglect Kosmas himself is sadly though, blind to it.
After a few Moments Kosmas speaks up again
“Did you notice anything off about the Potter Heir Theodore?”
“Off, Father? No, not that I remember”
To be fair Theo knows he is not the best ‘social butterfly’ as the Hufflepuffs call it. Theo likes being in the Dorms or in the library more, sometimes he plays Chess with Blaise but that is it. He only knew of Potters Parsel Tongue abilities because he was there in the duelling Club when it came out, that Club was truly a waste of Time. He is really glad that Lockhart is gone. But it could always be that the next DADA Teacher is even worse.
Theo is broken out of his Musings from his Father who nods at him before leaving the Dinner Table.
“Theodore. Your Supply list should come in the next few days, please see to getting it done before the 28th”
“Of course, father.”
“Good, I will be in my Study should you need me.”
Now Theo is alone once again, he walks back to his Room and turns back to his Desk, a Copy of ‘No Time? Get yourself some; the workings of Time Magic’ lays on his desk waiting to be read. Theo takes it and walks to his Bed, reading for the next few hours.
.
.
The Next Morning Theo wakes up to soft tapping against his Window. A dark Brown Barn owl sits on his Window ledge. A Letter in its beak. Theo’s Hogwarts Supply list is here, slowly he wakes up and walks over to the Window. Using his wand to summon the owl a treat before it flies off again.
Theo takes the letter and closes the window again, the Owl taking off once again. Upon sitting on his Bed and opening the letter Theo reads it over
