Neverland
Lightning Bolt woke up feeling so good. He never felt this good before. It was amazing. He opened his eyes and remembered everything that happened the day before. It was not a dream, it was real, he is really in Neverland. He heard some tinkling and looked around for the fairy that helped him the day before. She was getting Peter so that he could explain things to the new kid.
Peter came right up the tree house and smiled wide to Lightning Bolt, he was so glad he woke up and he looked like he was feeling so good.
“How are you Lightning Bolt? You slept all night and most of the morning, we were a little worried, but Tinkerbell assured us that you were just tired. Now that you are up you can come down and get breakfast! We went out to grab stuff last night to make sure you get a great meal this morning.”
Lightning Bolt was a little surprised. He got food? But he didn’t do any chores or anything, he didn’t deserve food yet. Peter did not like the look on Lightning Bolt’s face, he looked confused and to Peter this seemed like a simple thing, when you wake up you eat breakfast…
“But… Don’t I need to work for my food? I haven’t done anything to earn food yet.”
“Oh, that’s not how things work in Neverland, especially when you’re sick the day before. Everyone pitches in and helps each other out here. We all get to eat and sleep and play together unless we don’t want to. There is no way you can go without food here, unless you decide that you are not hungry.”
“Ok… But what if I break something, or burn food when cooking, or do something bad? If you don’t take food away, what’s the punishment?”
Peter frowned… those did not sound like something worthy of punishments… He looked over to Tinkerbell who tinkled in his ear.
“Well, if something happens that is an accident there is no punishment, accidents happen to everyone, and we do not punish for accidents. If you do something bad on purpose, then we just don’t let you play with us that day. But it has to be something bad that could hurt someone or is mean to hurt someone. A little trouble is expected of all Lost Boys.”
Lightning Bolt was so amazed. This place is fantastic! He got up from bed and followed Peter outside to where the other boys were all eating and sitting around a firepit. It looked like they had a plate ready for him to have as well. The boys were excited to see him and to talk to him, especially First Twin who was the one watching over Lightning Bolt with Tinkerbell while the rest were getting the food.
They passed him his plate and let him sit down beside Peter. Once he started eating, he had wide eyes and a big smile on his face, they were happy he enjoyed their food. They were even able to steal some bread from town yesterday, and a cake for later that day. They were very proud of their collection of food. Once it looked like Lightning Bolt was starting to force himself to eat, Peter immediately told him not to worry that with Pixie Magic the food will keep until he’s hungry again. Then the Lost Boys stood up and began their questioning.
“How old are you? Why do you want to grow bigger? Why do you want to learn stuff? Think you’ll be happy to join us Lost Boys with Peter? What’s your favorite animal? What’s your favorite color? What do you do for fun? Can you show us some magic? What kind of magic do you have?...”
The boys just wouldn’t stop. Lightning Bolt was not sure if he was happy or nervous with all these questions being asked of him. He looked over to Peter, who was grinning like crazy knowing his Lost Boys were just too excited.
“I turned five yesterday, I want to be big enough to take care of myself if needed, I want to be smarter and learning is how you get smarter, I think I’ll be very happy here with you all, I love snakes, I like the color green, I like to make up stories in my mind when I have time to do stuff, I can’t control my magic it just happens randomly…”
Lightning Bolt thought he answered all their questions, the Lost Boys all smiled and sat back down happy with the answers. Now it was Lightning Bolt’s turn to ask questions.
“How did you all end up here? What the boat I saw when flying? What do you all like to do all day?”
The others laughed and answered right away.
“Peter found all of us on the mainland needing a new place to stay. That boat is Captain Hook’s, we don’t go near there unless we want to cause big trouble. We like to play games and have fun and explore the island as much as we can.”
Next, he heard was some tinkling next to his ear, he looked over and saw Tinkerbell by Peter’s face.
“What is she saying? Can I learn to speak fairy?”
Peter and Tinkerbell both looked surprised, this was the first time someone asked to learn to speak fairy. Usually, they just let Peter do the translating or just guess what Tink is trying to say.
“She’s reminding me that we will need the Fairy Queen to look you over sometime as there is some sort of magic in your scar that she could not get rid of. She says it does not seem urgent but the earlier we can get rid of it the better for your actual magic. Plus she says she can’t wait to teach you magic.
As for learning Fairy Speak, it is very very difficult to learn. The tinkling tends to sound the same to everyone and they have trouble telling the difference between the sounds. But! We can always try. It doesn’t hurt to teach you a few words at a time and seeing if you would understand them.”
“Magic in my scar? Is it bad magic?”
Tinkerbell looked at Lightning Bolt and then flew straight to Peter’s head tinkling a mile an hour.
“What do you mean bad magic? Do you feel something there? Tinkerbell! Give him time to answer!”
Lightning Bolt looked ashamed and scared; he was worried that this bad magic will make Peter send him back to the Dursley’s.
“I can feel something there, it makes me sad every time I feel it. Sometimes I get pain from it, especially when I was being punished in The Room.”
Tinkerbell tinkled to Peter and then flew off. Lightning Bolt looked confused and tried to follow with his eyes where she was going but lost track of her. Peter smiled to him and just shook his head.
“She’s just gone to get the Fairy Queen, she is worried that the magic in your scar is actually hurting you somehow and doesn’t want to wait until you get hurt more. Now, while she is gone we will clean up and get ready to play. How about Hide and Seek boys?”
Everyone got right up and started picking everything up and putting things away. Lightning Bolt just sat there surprised that Tinkerbell was worried about him and that Peter will still let him play with them all. He was close to tears from happiness but then First came by and gave him a hug.
“Don’t worry, the Fairy Queen is great, she’ll figure it all out. Now, let me show you the best places to hide! Peter is always the first seeker; it just makes it easier to choose who is first that way because the next one is the first boy to be found, and we keep it going until someone has to seek three times. If that happens, we stop the game and either play a new game or do something else.”
With that all the boys went running around in the forest and laughing and yelling at each other then they all split up and tried to find a place to hide that Peter would have trouble finding.
----------
Tinkerbell flew fast. She was not taking her time with this one. If this magic was hurting this little boy, then she wanted it gone before it got bigger or caused even more harm or something. After a while she made it to Fairy City.
It was a large field of flowers. Flowers everywhere of every size and color and kind. There was tinkling everywhere and some fairy dust in the air too. She missed her fairy town sometimes, but she loved Peter and didn’t want to leave him, besides, she can come visit when the boys aren’t causing trouble. She flew to the middle of the field and went towards the biggest flower there.
With the magic of the fairies, all the flowers have buildings made of magic that only fairies can see. The one in the middle on the biggest flower was a castle and it shined greatly with all the fairy dust and magic in the air. Tinkerbell went straight to the front door and walked in.
She was stopped by a guard, he looked at her in surprise, Tink didn’t come see the Fairy Queen too often, and asked her what her business was with the Queen.
“There is a new Lost Boy who is magical and has magic in a scar that is causing trouble. I need her help to figure out what the magic is and how to get rid of it. I’m afraid it may hurt the boy if left alone too long.”
The guard looked serious when he heard her reason. He did not like thinking of magic used to hurt someone. That’s not what their magic is for. He nodded and brought her to the main room telling her to wait while he gets the Queen. He signals a lesser guard to stay with her and then went off to find the Fairy Queen and let her know she has urgent business to deal with if she is available.
Tinkerbell waited in the main room, looking around at the new paintings and art all around the area. She knew it had been a few months since she came to the fairy city, but she doesn’t remember the last time she met with the Fairy Queen. It was usually done by appointment but she had no time to do that today, she wanted this magic dealt with.
“You needed me Tinkerbell?”
A lovely fairy with long brown hair, a crown and bright green eyes, wearing a delightful light green dress had entered the room. Her magic was so strong Tinkerbell needed to take a moment to get used to it again, she was getting too comfortable being the only magical being around. Tinkerbell curtsied to the Queen and gave a sincere smile.
“Your majesty the Queen Aitana. Thank you for meeting with me so urgently.”
The Queen brought her to a table where they could sit and chat together while having some tea. Aitana was happy to see Tinkerbell again, it had been too long. She is just happy Tinkerbell came to her to get help with this magic, her seer mentioned something that made her worried that Tink would deal with it all on her own and cause more trouble.
“It’s lovely to see you again Tinkerbell, I am happy to help if I can, now tell me what the problem seems to be.”
And so the two fairies spoke for over an hour going through what Lightning Bolt said and what Tinkerbell has felt herself when healing him. With every additional information Aitana knew this was going to be a problem that she will have to deal with herself.
“I need to gather a few things, but why don’t you go ahead and prepare the boys for me to do a strong ritual on this new boy. First I’ll test him myself and see what I can find but I have a feeling that this ritual is what will be needed to get rid of this magic.”
With that Tinkerbell said her goodbyes and flew back to the Boys’ Treehouse.
