The wind sent a chill down Heidee's spine as she walked through Hogsmeade. Her face felt as though it was being pricked by thousands of small needles as the icy wind blew into her uncovered face. She had been unable to find her scarf this morning so she'd have to suffer for now. Maybe she could use her tie as a scarf?
Just as her fingers were starting to turn numb, she remembered the person next to her. They were still ranting about how Theodore Nott should've asked out Daphne Greengrass instead of Gemma Farley. Drakaina Malfoy, the person next to her, has been raving about this for the last 30 minutes. And it's driving her insane.
If Heidee has to hear about Nott making a 'terrible' terrible decision for another thirty minutes, she's going to kill herself before Voldemort even has the chance. After what happened last time, she knows not to interrupt Drakaina by talking lest she wants to lose her tongue, again, for an hour (possibly longer) so she keeps her mouth shut. She doesn't-- how many times is she gonna repeat the part where Nott groped Farley's chest right in front of Daphne, making the poor girl cry. She's heard this part at least fifteen times now.
She has very few options now that could distract Drakaina from her gossip. She loves hearing her girlfriend talk but she does not need to hear about Nott and Farley French kissing up the boys dormitory stairs as Daphne sobs in the middle of the Slytherin common room with Tracey Davis comforting her.
Heidee abruptly stops mid-walk as she finds herself unable to continue forwards. She looks towards Drakaina and sees that she has stopped walking also. They're both silent for a few moments before Heidee looks up and sees exactly what she needed.
A mistletoe.
There was a mistletoe hanging above hers and Drakainas head. They were walking under a black lamppost that just so happened to have a mistletoe hanging on it. Heidee could cry, the opportunity was perfect.
With no hesitation, Heidee leaned forwards and kissed Drakaina softly. Her lips were soft and smooth unlike her own which were chapped and incredibly dry. She reached up to caress Drakainas face as she deepened the kiss. She reluctantly pulled away from the kiss slowly to breathe. She looked into Drakainas eyes as she pulled away and saw pure love and adoration for her in them; she was sure Drakaina was seeing the same thing for her in Heidees eyes.
They stood in the snow a little while longer. Just holding each other and laughing as snow from the top of the lamppost slides off and falls on their heads.
