Summary
Lily Evans signs up to work at a summer camp with her friends. She never expected someone to come along and steal her heart, but here we are.Pandora Rosier just wanted a fun summer with her friends. Falling in love was not on the list but she can’t complain.Or: a pandalily centric fic at a summer camp
Note
Ok so first I would like to say, I have never actually been to a summer camp. The closest thing I’ve had was a three day long Girl Scout camp when I was eight, and that was a very long while ago 😭I have no idea how summer camps are set up and everything I know camp from movies or google. This is not at all gonna be accurate to how an actual camp system is set up but I mean at least there is a system! From what I created in the depths of my brain is we have a bunch of kids sign up, they randomly get assigned a duty, (PE, Arts and Crafts, Lake/swimming, etc.) and a cabin to stay in with kids. There’s for cabins, two for girls two for boys and there are tow to three counselors in each. Now that that’s out of the way I really hope you all enjoy this story, I’m not known for frequent updates but if this story actually gets read by people I can gain motivation to write faster. I’m not the best writer either so any tips would be greatly appreciated. This story was requested by mag_gie.s on TikTok, they asked for a pandalily fic and I had to do it.No warnings for this chapter. Hope you enjoy!

Lily woke to the sound of rain. The room was filled with a golden haze leaking from the window. Bright orange curtains barely covering it. The light from outside illuminated the walls, giving the entire scene a euphoric feel. The light sound of water drops continued oddly loud for a sprinkle.

Lily sat up from her bed and glanced at the window. With a start she realized it was still open from the night before. The windowsill glistened with water.

“Shit!” She muttered as she hurried over to close the window. The area around it was slightly damp but not too bad. Lily grabbed a blanket from her chair in the corner of the room and set it on the dampened floor in hope of somewhat drying it.

The carefree feeling of the morning clung to the air. Lily sighed and sat down at the edge of her bed. Her phone lit of from the nightstand with a message from the group chat.

Lily laughed and shut her phone off. She looked at her calendar that hung above her bed. She’d be at Camp Godric for three entire weeks. It was the same camp she used to go to as a kid. It’s where Lily met Mary and Marlene actually. The summer before year 6. They all happened to end up in the same school luckily.

Now 5 years later they’re all coming back as counselors. Lily and Mary had managed to convince Sirius, James, Peter, and Remus to sign up as well. Sirius then found out one of his little brother’s friends had convinced him to sign up as well, plus three more of their friends. A large coincidence considering the Black Brothers don’t go to the same school. Their parents pulled Regulus out to go to some private school around three years ago. Between the two groups there weren’t many positions left at Camp Godric.

Lily heard her mother call her down for breakfast. She hurried out of her room into the hallway where she ran into Petunia.

“Oh my god, watch where you’re going!” Petunia gasped, holding her hands out to steady them both.

“Sorry, Tunia.” Lily replied. Petunia shook her head and sauntered down the stairs. Lily rolled her eyes and followed. The smell of bacon drifted through the house. In the kitchen lay just that, and a bowl of eggs. Lily grabbed a fork and walked to the counter to scoop some eggs onto her plate, along with some bacon. She sat at the table beside Petunia.

Their mother then entered the room in an apron and holding a spatula. She glanced around till her eyes fell on Lily.

“Ah, there you are.” She began, setting her spatula down by the eggs. “Hurry and eat, we have to leave in an hour if you wanna get there in time. It’s a few hours away.”

Lily nodded and took a bite of her eggs.

Half and hour later Lily was in the passenger seat of the car driving down the highway. Snow on the Beach by Taylor Swift was playing on the radio. The rain had cleared out but it was still pretty cloudy.

By the time they arrived it was near 2:45. Most of her friends were already there, as well as Regulus and his group and a few others. Lily hurriedly said goodbye to her mom and gave her a kiss on the cheek before grabbing her bags and leaving the car and running to meet with the others, by the entrance to camp.

Sirius spotted her first. He started jumping and waving his hand like the idiot he is. Lily laughed and rolled her eyes as she walked up to the group. By then the others noticed her and said their greetings. Mary captured her in a tight hug, followed by Marlene. Peter was the only one not there yet, so at least Lily wasn’t last.

“I’m so glad you’re here, it’s miserable with these three oafs.” Marlene stated. Mary nodded her head in agreement.

“It’s like talking to a brick wall.”

Sirius and James let out their objections while Remus made a face of agreement.

A loud laugh a few feet away caught the group’s attention. It came from one of Regulus’ friends.

“Barty, shut the hell up you idiot.” Regulus exclaimed, glancing at them. The tall one, Barty, Lily guessed, said something quieter making the other boy beside him elbow him in the ribs.

“Well your brother’s friends look like a joy to be around.” Lily said, looking at Sirius who made a face of disgust.

“They’re not all bad, Pandora’s sweet and Dorcas is tolerable, but the other two are the spawn of Satan I swear to god.” Sirius muttered. They all laughed at that.

Finally what felt like a million years later as James was telling a very vivid story with wild hand gestures, the camp director walks out of the main cabin and up to the many teenagers. She wasn’t the same as the director Lily had when she came a few years ago. This one was way younger, with olive skin and short brown hair. She looked around 22 maybe.

The woman called for them to all gather around the fire pit in the center of the camp. The fire pit in question was a stone hole in the ground with two rows of logs circling around it. As everyone chose a log to sit on, the director took her place facing them all.

“Ok now that you’re all settled in,” she began, clapping her hands together. “my name is Alice. I’m the camp director.”

Alice pointed to a small cabin beside the dining pavilion. “In there is the kitchens, where you can find our cooks Xenophilous, Benjy, and Emma.”

None of the names sounded familiar to Lily.

Alice continued her speech, pointing to the four cabins surrounding them. “These are the children’s cabins. Two for boys and two for girls. After this I will give you all a schedule for the next three weeks, including which cabin you’ll be in and who will be in there with you.” She paused momentarily to let them take it all in.

Lily glanced around at the other kids on the logs. Regulus and his friends were all sitting on the second row taking up two logs. The tall one whose name was apparently Barty was sprawled all over his log with his head on another boys shoulder. The other boy in question had dark skin and very bright blonde hair. Beside him on the second log was a girl almost identical to him. She was slightly shorter and had long brilliantly blonde hair done in goddess braids. Beside her was another girl with dark skin and long dark hair.

A few seats away from Lily sat two girls chatting to each other. One was an Asian girl with choppy dark hair and the other had short bright pink hair.

Alice had started talking though Lily had missed the first half of what she said.

“Now we’re gonna go down the row and state your name and age.” Alice finished. She looked at Remus who was sitting at the very end.

“Uh, hi. My name is Remus Lupin and I am 19 years old.” He stated awkwardly. Sirius went next, then James and continued to Lily.

“My name is Lily Evans and I’m 19.”

After Lily was the two girls who sat alone. The one with dark hair started.

“I’m Emmeline Vance and I am 19 years old.”

Then the pink haired girl.

“My name is Amelia Bones and I am 18”

There was a moment of silence as everyone looked to the group behind them. The blonde boy smacked the back of Barty’s head to get his attention.

“Oh it’s my turn?” He whispered rather loudly. He turned to face everyone, “Hi, my name is Barty Crouch Jr. and I am 18 years old”

The boy beside him looked annoyed. “I’m Evan Rosier and I’m 18”

Next was the blonde girl beside him.

“My name is Pandora Rosier and I am 18 years old”

“My name is Dorcas Meadows and I’m 19 years old.”

And finally the last person.

“I’m Regulus Black and I’m 18.”

Alice clapped her hands together. “Wonderful! Now everyone line up and I’ll give you your schedule.”

Sirius and James ran to the front of the line, quickly followed by Marlene. Remus and Lily shared a glance of amusement before stepping behind them. The line moved fast and Lily was quickly handed her schedule and knocked out of the way.

She strolled over by Marlene and looked down at her schedule. Lily had been assigned as the main cabin counselor, meaning she took the kids to all of their activities and helped supervise with the activities counselor. Lily skimmed through the actual schedule for the next three weeks. She had been put in cabin 2 with Amelia and Pandora. Lily had to take a moment to recall the two girls. Amelia was the girl with dark hair? No, pink hair. Pandora was the one with the platinum blonde hair.

Lily looked over at Marlene. “What role did you get?”

Marlene looked up excitedly. “I got P.E.”

Lily smiled back at her as Marlene looked back at her schedule to find her cabin mates.

Marlene paused for a second and looked back up at Lily. “What?” Lily asked. Marlene held up her schedule and pointed at her assigned cabin.

“There’s only one other person.” She said.

Lily squinted to look at it. “Dorcas Meadows.” She read aloud. “That’s one of Regulus’ friends.”

“No shit. But I thought there were supposed to be three counselors to a cabin.” Marlene quipped. “Where’s Mary?”

Lily looked around till she found Mary standing beside Peter looking at one of the staff cabins.

“Mary!” She called out. Mary spun around at the sound of her name. When she spotted Lily and Marlene she smiled and skipped towards them.

“Hey! What-“ Mary began but Marlene cut in.

“What cabin did you get?”

Mary looked confused for a moment before a look at realization crossed her face. “Oh I didn’t tell you? I’m not a counselor I signed up for medical staff with Peter.” She pointed at one of the staff cabins she had been looking at. “I’ll be in there.”

Marlene looked crestfallen. “God damn it. Ill be alone in a cabin with one of Regulus Blacks friends”

Lily and Mary tried to stifle laughs but one glare from Marlene sent them over. Lily grabbed Marlene’s shoulder.

“Who knows maybe you’ll become best friends.”

Marlene tilted her slightly. “Or we could become sworn enemies and try to murder each other every chance we get.”

Mary was about to say something, probably not very family friendly, when Alice calls out for them to head to the dining pavilion for dinner.

Mary and Marlene continue to discuss Marlene’s cabin situation while Lily fell into step with James. They had become good friends after they broke up a few years back. Actually Lily doesn’t even know if it counts as a break up. They were only fourteen and dated for less than two weeks, quickly deciding they definitely did not work well like that.

“What’d you get?”  Lily asked.

James adjusted his glasses and squinted at his schedule, reminding Lily of a high school professor. “I’m the head counselor for the boys.”

“Oh I got head for the girls!”

James beamed at her and glanced back down at his paper. “I also got cabin three with Remus and Regulus.”

“How’s that going by the way?” Lily asked. “With Regulus and Sirius living with you, I mean.”

James smiled softly. “Actually it’s not bad. Sirius is a lot happier being away from his parents and Regulus is actually really nice once you get past his ‘fuck everyone’ facade.” James then proceeded to trip over a rock. Once he regained himself he continued.

“You know the other day he let me read one of his poems he wrote cause he writes poetry, and it was amazing. I was genuinely questioning if he was William Shakespeare reincarnated.”

Lily raised an eyebrow. That’s certainly interesting. James Potter always talks good about people but he only talks exclusively when he really really likes the person. This rarely happens.

“Make sure to invite me to your wedding.” Lily quipped.

James looked at her with a confused face. “Ok? That’s kinda random but you know you’ll be one of my groomsmen.” He winked at her. “Why bring it up now though?”

Lily laughed and shook her head. “I’ll tell you when you’re older.”

When they reached the dining pavilion Lily recalled her many meals she had her years before. The area itself wasn’t super large however it had a giant stone overhead cover making the whole thing look grand. The tables were all also stone to make them last longer than wooden ones. The whole floor was concrete, contrasting from the gravel paths. Lily sat at the first table she saw. Marlene, Mary, and Remus were already there.

A blonde guy in an apron walked around and set down plates in front of everyone. His name tag read “Xenophilous”.

At the side of the pavilion there was a bar with food set out. Everyone took turns walking up and getting some. When it was Lily’s turn she got a large spoonful of mashed potatoes and a hamburger.

Back at the table, Lily checked her phone. She had a follow request on instagram and a notification from Spotify letting her know an artist she followed was touring near her.

Lily was about to check insta when someone slid into the seat across from her. She looked up to see the blonde girl- uh, Pandora, looking at her. Lily switched her phone off and smiled at the other girl.

“Hi! You’re Lily right?” Pandora asked.

She had a kind of dreamy and light voice mixed with enthusiasm that gave her a very interesting sound.

“Yeah, you’re Pandora?” Lily questioned, already knowing the answer but not wanting to seem awkward.

“Yep! My schedule says that we’re sharing a cabin so I thought I’d stop by and meet you.” Pandora paused and looked at Lily as if she were examining a bug under a microscope. “I love your hair, is it natural?” She eventually asked.

“Oh yeah, I got it from my mom.”

“Red hair is so wonderful. The people who have it are usually pleasures to be around. Hey, what’s your star sign?” Lily was pleasantly surprised by how much Pandora spoke. She knows not to judge a book by its cover but honestly it’s hard not to.

“Aquarius. Is your hair also natural? I noticed your brother had the same hair. Wait, he is your brother right? I just assumed based on the last name.”

“Oh yeah, Evans my brother. And surprisingly our hair is natural.” Pandora started twirling her hair around her finger.   “I think it’s something to do with the Rosier family all having blonde hair since like the start of time, and my mother’s family was from Solomon. I’m a Pisces by the way! Do you like astrology?”

Lily smiled and rested her head on her hand. “I know of it. I’m more of an astronomy girl”

“Astronomy is so interesting! I swear there’s other life out there and we’re just too scared to look past our own solar system.” Pandora looked as if she could continue for hours but before she could another girl sat down beside her. It was Amelia, with the pink hair.

“Hi! I’m in cabin two with you guys.” She stated. Pandora quickly caught her up on the conversation and they began talking about the universes vastness.

Lily took the moment to take in Pandoras appearance. Obviously there was her almost pale blonde hair and beautiful goddess braids. Her skin was dark but she had bright pale freckles across her face. Her eyes were almost amber and had small brown flecks. She had a somewhat purple latch around her ear so appeared as an elf’s. Her hair was decorated with light blue charms and her hands were almost fully covered with small doodles. She was insanely pretty.

Lily was brought back to the conversation when she was asked a question. Snapping out of her haze she looked at the two who were staring expectantly.

“Uhh, what was that?” She asked slightly embarrassed.

“If you were born as an animal what would you been?” Pandora asked.

Lily thought for a moment. “Probably a fox. I feel like they’re clever to have survived so long with rarely being seen by the human eye.”

Pandora seemed thrilled with this answer. “Oh I like you.” She declared.

The sound of a horn rang out causing everyone to look around in fright. It was then when Lily realized how dark it had gotten. Alice stood up from one of the tables and apologized for the loud noise.

“Sorry everyone, that was the horn announcing the end of the day. Normally we’d all head out to the campfire but tonight I want you all to get a good nights rest. The kids will be here at 11:00 AM sharp.” And with that she waved them all away.

Lily, Pandora, and Amelia began walking towards cabin two. Lily looked over to see Marlene talking to Dorcas in front of cabin one, neither of them seemingly happy about this arrangement.

When Lily entered the cabin the first thing she noticed was the smell. It’s smelt like old rust and fish.

“Oh god.” She muttered. Amelia made an expression of discomfort. Pandora was unfazed.

“Hold on.” She said and began digging through her bag. Pandora must have found what she was looking for because she pulled out a bottle and sprayed it in every corner. “There we go. Just give it a few minutes.”

And just as she said, in a few minutes the smell was practically gone, leaving a flowery scent in the air. Lily set her bags down beside a bottom bunk in the back. Amelia took the bunk directly above her. Pandora set her bags down by the bunk across from them.

“Pandora you are a lifesaver.” Lily claimed. “I don’t think I could’ve lasted two days with that smell.”

Pandora giggled and saluted her with tow fingers. Amelia switched the light off and climbed into her bunk. The three of them chatted about random stuff for a little while before eventually they all drifted to sleep.

Lilys last thought was that it wasn’t the worst thing she got bunked with strangers rather than her friends.
