Blaise's Dilemma
Summary
Blaise had a problem. A love problem. He'd always been aware that Draco cared alot for Dazai. So when Draco said he loved Dazai, well you can imagine how that went. Blaise didn't know what to say. He thought it was obvious he was in love with Dazai. How was he supposed to tell his best friend that he was also in love with his crush, who is his best friend. Dazai is confused and confides in Pansy who is so done. Hermione also likes Dazai.
Note
Hermione, Draco, Blaise: *crushing on Dazai*Dazai: *blissfully oblivious*Pansy: I'm sick of this shit. Also this takes place after the 2nd year, but i don't really have a specific time period.

Blaise had a problem. A love problem. It all started when Draco ran to him and Pansy in the common rooms saying HE had a problem. Little did Draco know that he was going to become Blaise's problem. He'd always been aware that Draco cared for Dazai, as did the rest of the Hell's Hounds.

“I have a crush on Dazai!” Draco announced almost panicky. Pansy stared at Draco in shock and turned to look at Blaise with concern.

“What.” Blaise looked at Draco. He couldn't be serious. “You're kidding right?”

“No! That's the problem! I have no idea what to do or say around him anymore, my heart goes crazy, and I can't stop thinking about him!”

“So?” Pansy asked when she recovered.

“So this is terrible! What will my parents think? What will this do to my family's reputation?! It's already bad enough that I'm blatantly friends with him,” Draco exclaimed and continued, “and yet I can't give up on him. So I need both of your help.”

“With what?” Blaise asked, dreading the request.

“With earning Dazai's affection and eventually confessing to him.”

Blaise had no idea what to say. He thought his feelings for Dazai were pretty obvious to everyone but Dazai. So why is Draco asking for his help with this?

Blaise remembered when he and Draco were younger and had both gotten bracelets. He got green and Draco got black, but Draco wanted green. So he let Draco swap with him to make him happy. He didn't care; it was just a bracelet.

Or when he gave Draco his favorite candy because Draco wanted candy. He didn't care; it was just candy.

Of course the ONE time he cared for and wanted something so badly, Draco wanted it too.

This time, Blaise wasn't going to give it away without a fight. It was about time he got what he wanted.

“I won't help you.”

“What? Why not?”

“Because I also want Dazai's affection.”

“What.” Draco startled. “You can't be serious.”

“This is the most serious I've been in a while, Draco.” Blaise squinted.

“Then I suppose we've got a problem,  don't we?” Draco bit back.

Pansy felt like she was in the middle of an intense cat fight, which is what it could've become if Dazai hadn't chosen that moment to walk in the common rooms. Pansy had never felt grateful for Dazai's presence until now.

“Hey gang! And pansy.” Dazai joked. Pansy was as much a part of the gang as they were now. “What's the topic of discussion today?”

“Yo-” Blaise started, but was cut off.

“We were talking about the newest Hogwarts relationships!” Pansy practically shouted.

“Okayy? Well that's gross!” Dazai went to sit next to Blaise who already scooted to leave room for him

“Dazai!” Draco stopped him.

“Yes Draco?” Dazai stayed standing.

“Come sit by me!” Draco blurted at Dazai who just tilted his head. “B-Because there's more room!”

“Uhm-”

“There’s room here too,” Blaise argued.

“There's not as much room!”

“I think I'll just sit by Pansy-”

“No!” Everyone shouted.

Dazai was confused. Why were they fighting over where he should sit? Were they pranking him? Dazai looked around and saw nothing irregular.

“Dazai, you always sit by Blaise, sit by me for once. I feel underappreciated as your third in command.”

“That's-”

“Well we can't have that!” Dazai exclaimed. “Sorry Blaise, but I can't have my subordinates thinking they're not appreciated!”

“But-” Blaise tried to argue, but Dazai had already sat down next to Draco.

There may have been more room by Draco, but it sure didn't feel like it when Draco scooted closer to Dazai.

“A-Are you cold?” Draco asked Dazai.

“I'm always cold.”

“Then I'll help warm you up.” Draco held Dazai's hands in his, intertwining their fingers, while blushing.

“Aw, how cute!” Dazai cheered, causing Draco to blush more.

Blaise glared at them from across the room, not going unnoticed from Draco who just smirked and leaned his head on Dazai's shoulder, still holding hands.

“Draco sure is clingy today!” Dazai amused.

“Shut up.” Draco's heart soared. Dazai just pouted and let Draco play with his fingers. He was just glad Draco was happy. Speaking of happy, Dazai looked across the room to a very unhappy looking Blaise. Blaise normally wore a face of indifference, but today he looked…angry. At what Dazai didn't know, but maybe he'd find out later.

Blaise moved his sharp gaze from Draco and Dazai's interlocked hands, to Draco's head on his shoulder, to Draco's smug face,(the whole scene was way too lovey dovey for his liking) then finally to Dazai's. His gaze softened when he looked at Dazai. He looked…happy. He thought to himself that maybe if he wanted to be with Draco, he would be okay because Dazai was happy. He just really wanted to be the source of Dazai's happiness.

Dazai watched Blaise's face soften into an almost sad smile. He didn't like it. So he decided he would try to cheer Blaise up. Now that Blaise was finally looking at his face and not glaring at the no space between him and Draco, Dazai smiled a little. He then blew a kiss to Blaise, breaking him out of his thoughts. Dazai's smile truly was beautiful and did he just blow a kiss?

Blaise felt his heart flutter before he got an idea. He lifted his hand as if to catch the kiss and then brought the kiss to his own lips. Dazai watched Blaise flirt back with him, a rare occasion. He felt his face heat up before turning away, trying to hide his blush. Blaise chuckled to himself and admired Dazai's reaction.

Draco noticed Dazai's blush and felt a rush of disappointment that he wasn't the cause of it. He snuggled closer to Dazai in an attempt to make Dazai pay attention to him, the movement spoiling Blaise's mood. Blaise's reaction to Draco snuggling him was confusing. Was he jealous? The thought had him blushing even more. Not going unnoticed by Draco, who felt he had the upper hand. This time Blaise felt disappointed. Was Dazai blushing from Draco?

Pansy watched the whole thing play out with mild interest. Why were boys so dense? She was starting to get a headache from how frustrating they were being.

“Alright well I'm going to take a walk. Dazai you can have my seat if you want.” Pansy suggested, to cause some more trouble. The drama was a little fun after all.

“Thanks, Pansy!” Dazai got up and sat in her spot, much to Draco's annoyance. “Wow your spot is much colder.”

Blaise and Draco perked up, both apparently having the same idea. They got up and sat by Dazai's sides at the same time. Pansy just rolled her eyes.

“Oh! Hi you two! Care to explain why you're crushing me?”

“You were cold.” They both said. Dazai sighed.

“What is with you guys today? Is there a promotion you're fighting for that I'm unaware of because I assure you that there's no higher position to give.” Dazai gasped. “Unless you're trying to steal my position! This is terrible! I think I may have to make Pansy my 2nd AND 3rd in command after this betrayal!”

Pansy snorted. “Okay well I'm actually going now, Blaise and/or Draco, you wanna join me?”

“No.” They said in unison glaring at each other. They wouldn't leave the other with Dazai alone.

“Damn. Okay.” Pansy walked out.

“That was weird.” Dazai commented before getting more comfortable. He laid his legs across Draco's lap and laid his upper body on Blaise's legs. Draco made a sound of disapproval, while Blaise just hummed and played with Dazai's hair. Dazai leaned into Blaise's hands before realizing and swatting Blaise's hands away. Both Blaise and Draco chuckled, forgetting their rivalry for a moment.

-

Pansy was trying her best to think about anything other than the scene she left behind. She'd already come to terms that Blaise was practically in love with Dazai and now Draco was too?! It was like all Dazai did was cause trouble.

“Pansy!” She heard Hermione's voice behind her. “I've been looking for you.”

“Why would you be looking for me?

“Look I know that you and I don't get along, but you're the only person I can talk to about this.”

“Why not just bother one of the Weasleys?”

“They would definitely make fun or accidentally tell someone.”

“Okay then tell me what you want to tell me.”

“Well there's other people around-”

“I'm not going to listen unless you tell me here.”

“Alright then!” Hermione panicked. “Uh so it's about Dazai.”

Pansy scoffed. Of course it's about Dazai.

“I basically have a crush on him and I was thinking maybe since you're a slytherin and around him more that maybe you could give me some advice.”

“Bloody hell! Does everyone like Dazai!?”

“Not everyone!” Hermione huffed in offense.

“WHO HERE HAS A CRUSH ON DAZAI?” Pansh yelled. Hermione looked around and gaped seeing just how many hands were raised. She knew that Dazai's reputation had gotten better since 2nd year, but this?!

“Do you actually like him?” One of the hufflepuffs asked her friend, who had raised her hand.

“I mean the Daily Prophet is unreliable, he's just misunderstood. And he's actually really nice; he winked at me! Plus he's kinda cute…”

“Cute?”

“Have you seen his smile?”

“My point.” Pansy pointed, stopping their short eavesdropping. “And they aren't the only ones. You like Dazai? Get in line.”

“But-”

“No offense Hermione, but Dazai doesn't like you like that and he probably never will. You wanted advice? Well here's some real advice, give up. Give up before your little crush becomes serious and you get your heart broken.”

“How do I just give up? How do you know I don't have a chance?”

“He definitely already likes someone else.”

“Who-”

“It's not my place to tell, but I can say that I'm pretty sure he's gay.”

“Wait- huh? Wait a minute. Why does he flirt with girls all the time then?”

“Don't know, don't care. He's probably in denial or bisexual. Doesn't matter anyway, he's totally got a thing for someone else. Anyways, I'm going to try and find a place to hide away from all the Dazai drama.” She walked away.

“Is it Blaise?!” Hermione yelled at Pansy, who just ignored her, already racking her brains for people Dazai could like.

I'm glad she's not too upset. Pansy thought, unlike herself. Pansy couldn't believe she stooped so low to be giving love advice to a mudblood.

-

Dazai was confused. Blaise and Draco seemed to be on edge with each other recently. He didn't like it. Obviously because he couldn't have his friends- most trusted gang members at each other's throats.

Since their seating arrangement disagreement, these situations increased. Just today, Dazai needed something to write a letter to Mori with and both of them sprinted to give him a quill. They continuously fought over doing simple tasks for Dazai as if they were in competition with one another and Dazai was the only one unaware of why. So he did the only rational thing; he asked Pansy, because for some reason Pansy always knew the drama.

“Pansy! I need your help!” Dazai said, approaching her while she was with some other slytherins who wore disgusted faces.

“Where's Blaise and Draco to help you?” She sighed out.

“I don't know. Probably sending each other glares.” Dazai waved his hand. “Anyways I need to ask you about something.”

“Of course you do.” Pansh rolled her eyes and turned to the other slytherins. “Well? What are you waiting for? Go somewhere.”

Dazai waited for everyone to leave before he started talking. “So you also noticed that Draco and Blaise are fighting right?”

“Mhm.”

“So you know why then?”

“Shouldn't you know? Since you're so smart?” She replied sarcastically.

Dazai thought for a moment, ignoring Pansy's comment. They were fighting over something, but what?

Pansy watched Dazai think, waiting for him to ask her again or to finally get it.

“Think like this. They're fighting over something. What have they been doing when they were fighting?” Pansy explained.

“They've been with me, just doing normal things,” Dazai contemplated, “but they keep fighting over helping me or getting close to me. Have they been doing that with you?”

“No.”

So they've been fighting over doing things with only me? Hmmm.

“How about you go and think about it in the office and not bother me about it?”

Dazai rolled his eyes and walked off. “Thanks for the help.” He said sarcastically. She absolutely did nothing but confuse him more.

Pansy pinched the bridge of her nose. She felt like she was Professor Snape.

-

Blaise was sitting in the gang's office, catching up on school work. He had held off on doing work, too busy keeping Draco in check with Dazai. He got his peace today, because Draco was at Quidditch practice and Dazai was out doing something else. He had decided that he would give Dazai some space, since he and Draco followed him about everywhere recently.

They hadn't really talked much since the “war” between them started. He was sad that something like this would separate his friendships, but he wasn't willing to let Dazai go. He was certain that if one of them were to let go, it should be Draco. He had never been selfish before until he met Dazai.

He wondered minutely what Dazai was doing, before he literally walked through the door. Dazai looked deep in thought, a furrow in his brow and a slight tilt to his lips.

“Hey.” Blaise greeted him, causing Dazai to jump and look around before he found Blaise. He sighed in relief and smiled cheerily at Blaise.

“Hello Blaise!”

“What were you thinking about?”

Dazai thought to himself. Should he ask Blaise what he and Draco are fighting over? Blaise always told him that he wanted him to tell him things and stop hiding how he feels.

“Honestly… I wanted to ask you something about Draco.” Dazai let out, watching Blaise's reaction.

Blaise wasn't expecting that. His first thought was, oh shit! His second thought was, does Dazai like Draco? His third thought was, once again, oh shit!

Dazai watched Blaise slightly stiffen. He definitely needed to ask now.

“What about him?” Blaise finally let out.

“It's actually about you and Draco.” Dazai took a breath. “Why are you two always at each other's throats recently?”

Oh. Blaise thought. I guess he noticed

“We just had a… disagreement.” Blaise decided on. As much as he wanted to tell Dazai, it wouldn't be right to out Draco's feelings too. No matter how upset they were with each other; he was still one of his closest friends.

Dazai noticed Blaise's reluctance to tell him the truth. This only made him more curious and, overall, hurt that Blaise who claimed to trust him more than anything, didn't actually trust him.

“Right.” Of course he shouldn't trust me. I should've known it wouldn't last.

Blaise noticed Dazai's sudden mood change and, as always, knew why.

“It's really nothing Dazai. I can't tell you the real reason without Draco's input-”

“Blaise is so defensive! What are you working on?” Dazai interrupted to change the subject. Blaise sighed, knowing what Dazai was doing, but unable to push the subject anymore.

“History of Magic, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Herbology homework.” Blaise groaned, finally paying attention to his work again. Dazai always was distracting him.

“Wow Blaise is so lazy! I better watch out, you might be trying to steal my no school work job!”

“No one can compare to you in that, Dazai.” Blaise chuckled.

“You're right. It is a part of my charm, after all!”

Blaise only shook his head, going back to his work. The two sat in a comfortable silence for a while, Dazai reading a book McGonagall had given him that apparently would help him be able to do a transfiguration spell. Unfortunately for him, he'd already read the book multiple times and he still couldn't do it. He was growing frustrated just thinking about it, closing the cover of Transfiguration for Dummies! The Muggle Way. McGonagall had insisted that the book was genuinely very helpful and not insulting, but Dazai was pretty offended.

“I quit! Transfiguration is dumb and boring and- and dumb!” Dazai huffed.

Blaise raised an eyebrow in amusement, but otherwise ignored Dazai's outburst. Dazai sat for another few minutes, waiting for Blaise to say anything.

“Ugh! I'm so bored.” Dazai turned to Blaise. He stared at Blaise, and Blaise finally gave in.

“What do you want me to do, Dazai?”

“Entertain me!”

“I'm working.”

Dazai scoffed. “Fine. I'll help you with your homework, this once, if you promise to cure my boredom after.”

“It's a deal.” Blaise was no fool. If Dazai was going to help him on his homework, then he wasn't going to tell him no; he was a genius after all.

“I'm not writing anything though. Just ask me the questions and I'll answer them.” Dazai slouched on the couch.

“Okay then.” Blaise started asking the questions with Dazai answering them. Once Blaise got to the last question, Dazai stopped replying. He looked up to see Dazai sleeping peacefully on the couch. Blaise stood up from his seat and walked over to Dazai. He attempted to move the blanket under Dazai to put over the sleeping beauty without waking him up, however, he failed at that. Since Dazai woke up from a presence beside him; as a reflex he grabbed the person and flipped them to be trapped under him. He finally cleared his eyes and saw Blaise with a face of shock. They stared into each other's eyes for a moment, before Dazai realized the situation.

“Oh!” Dazai said.

Blaise just stared. Wrists under Dazai's grasp and legs trapped under Dazai's weight.

“Sorry Blaise!” Dazai apologized.

“It's alright. I don't really mind.” Blaise reassured him.

“You don't really min-”

“What in Merlin's name is happening here!?” Draco shouted behind them, by the office doors. Dazai didn't really care, but he wondered how this scene looked to someone else; Dazai on top of and holding Blaise down on the couch.

Blaise startled when he saw Draco. He was feeling a lot of things at that moment. Guilty, happy, selfish, content, embarrassed, and maybe just a little bit smug. He couldn't imagine how Draco felt in that moment, but he was selfishly glad the roles weren't reversed. Despite the situation being a general accident on both he and Dazai's parts, it couldn't have looked that way to Draco. That's why, even though they were fighting over Dazai's affection, he didn't want Draco to misunderstand.

“Hello Draco! How was your Quidditch practice?” Dazai asked before Blaise could speak.

Draco took the situation in. Blaise had Dazai on top of him. Dazai. His crush. His crush that also happened to be his best friend's crush. He could feel his heart crushing inside his chest. He swallowed, his throat feeling extra dry, and tears building up in his eyes.

“Why are you…?” Drack trailed off. He didn't want to finish that question.

“Oh right! Blaise just startled me, that's all.” Dazai waved his hand dismissively, already moved away from Blaise, who watched the whole conversation with a guilty glint in his eyes.

Draco didn't really feel relieved, but he let himself relax until Dazai asked him another question.

“That reminds me! I've got a question for you, since Blaise told me I should ask you,” Dazai started, Blaise tried to interrupted, already knowing what he was going to ask, before being promptly shushed by Dazai, “why are you and Blaise always like this with each other?” Dazai asked, mimicking their glares and simultaneously acting out a fight scene.

Blaise and Draco watched Dazai. Had they really been like that?

“Dazai.” Draco took a breath, steeling himself. “The reason we're like that is because… well it's because,” Draco looked at Blaise, his eyes filled with determination and turning back to Dazai, “it's because I've got romantic feelings for you!”

“Wha-”

“And Blaise didn't want me to confess to you.” Draco admitted. “That is why we were fighting.”

Dazai looked from Blaise to Draco, back and forth, for any sign that this was a joke.

“Did Fred and George put you up to this?” Dazai asked, laughing a little in an attempt to hide his weariness.

“No, Dazai.” Draco and Blaise said.

“That sounds like something someone would say if they were pranking me-”

“Dazai!” Draco shouted, walking up to him. He brought his hands up to cup Dazai's cheeks and pulled his face closer to his. “Everytime I'm with you, it feels like my heart is going to explode. Just right now my heart is trying to beat out of my chest. You can feel it yourself. I want to hold your hand, and be close to you all the time. So please, will you accept my feelings and be my boyfriend?”

Blaise watched Dazai the whole time, who had a growing blush on his face.

“W-What would your father say about this?” Dazai joked, turning his head away, in order to stop from looking at Draco in the eyes.

“I don't care about that right now.”

Dazai let out a shaky sigh.

“Draco.” Dazai bowed. “I'm very sorry, but I can't accept your feelings.”

“I understand.” Draco said, holding back tears. He started to walk away criticizing himself. I should've done more for him. Maybe then he would accept my feelings.

“Draco, there was nothing you could've done to change this. Don't beat yourself up.” Dazai said. Draco nodded, before leaving the gang room. He knew Blaise won the moment Dazai met him because Blaise was simply the one for Dazai.

“Dazai… I'm sorry you had to do that.”

“Hm? Blaise should know I didn't have to do that. I chose to.”

Despite what Dazai said, that was one of the hardest things he had to do. Sure, he didn't feel that way for Draco, but rejecting him was not something on his bucket list.

“Hey Blaise,” Dazai looked at himself in the mirror, before quickly looking back at Blaise, “why did you not want Draco to confess?”

“Oh.” Blaise said. This was it. The moment he'd been dreading. Now that Dazai had just rejected Draco, he didn't feel relief or hope, all he felt was dread. He didn't know how he could bring himself to confess, but if there was one thing he couldn't do, it was lie to Dazai. “Well, Dazai, I'm in love with you.”

Dazai froze. Blaise was in love with him? The demon student. The guy that tortured and murdered people for a living. The human that wasn't even human.

“Blaise you know that I've killed so many-”

“So have I, Dazai.” Blaise said. “I've killed 6 people for you. You should know by now that I don't care if you've killed people or if you're going to. I just want to be with you. Will you let me stay by your side?”

Dazai's mind was running. Attachments have no place in the Port Mafia. Why don't you try being selfish for once? What do you want, Dazai?

“I want to be with Blaise too.” Dazai said quietly, Blaise almost didn't hear it, but when he did he couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief.

“Can I hug you?”

Dazai didn't like hugs. He hated physical contact, so why did he nod his head? Blaise brought his arms around Dazai and they held each other close.

“I hope Draco will be okay.” Dazai muffled into Blaise's chest.

“Me too.” Blaise said, worrying over his heartbroken friend, but relishing in Dazai's presence

-

Draco was wandering the halls, his mind in a different place. He hears the voice of Pansy, but he's too upset to really process it.

“Draco!” Pansy held his shoulder. He turned to her, eyes red, obviously holding back tears. “Hey… what's wrong?”

“What happened?” Hermione asked. Why was Hermione there?

“I-” Draco bit his lip, trembling a little. “I confessed.”

“Oh…” Pansy said, realizing what happened. “Let's go somewhere more private.”

Hermione nodded, having no idea who Draco confessed to, but not wanting to instigate any more tears.

Once they had gotten to a private place, Draco broke down in tears. Pansy barely had any time to react before he was crying into her shoulder. She awkwardly patted his shoulder, not used to the closeness.

“There, there.” Damn, she's really bad at comforting.

Hermione moved to Draco, on a mission to make him feel better.

“Draco, who did you confess to?”

Draco looked up at her before turning away. “D-Dazai.” He let out.

Hermione was shocked. “You know. I also had a crush on Dazai.”

“Well yeah, everyone knew that, it was obvious.” Draco pointed out.

“What I'm trying to say,” Hermione yelled out, “is that I grew past it because Pansy opened my eyes.”

“Right…thanks. Really helpful.” Draco may have been heartbroken, but obviously not enough to keep himself from being sarcastic.

“Besides, there's so many things to NOT like about Dazai.” Hermione suggested. “He doesn’t do his work, he’s rude to his teachers, he doesn’t take anything seriously, he hides everything from everybody, he doesn’t follow rules, he’s so frustrating, he-”

“He’s an idiot.” Pansy pointed out.

“Well I wouldn’t say-”

“Okay okay!” Draco laughed, cracking a smile. Maybe, just maybe. He’d be alright.
