Chapter 3
"I don't understand," Jonathon Burke said to my Dad as Mom and I entered Borgin and Burkes. "It has unique qualities. One wouldn't want to see it falling into the wrong hands." I noticed a dark yellow Magical trail leading to a cabinet and used my Legilimency to figure out that it's Potter. His Aura's dark yellow. Interesting. Draco's is dark yellow too... Mine, Thema and Mom's are light blue while Dad and Sev's are black. According to Mom, if your Aura is the same colour as someone else, they could be a potential love interest as it means your Magic is compatible. The futher away someone else's colour is from yours, the less compatible your Magic. Those that don't have compatible Magic are less likely to have a successful relationship than those with. Unfortunately, hardly anyone has Magical Senses, let alone the Magical Sense of Aura Sight, however, the Malfoy Family Ability is all Magical Senses and Draco and I have it. That's why Draco is walking over to it. He can see Potter's Aura... But does he know it's Potter?
"Lucius, we need to talk about Cassiopeia's Test later," Mom said as we entered. I walked over to Draco and the cabinet Potter's hiding in.
"You can keep the box," Dad said. Draco went to open the cabinet but Dad held it shut with his walking stick. "What did I say?"
"Touch nothing," Draco said. "Sorry, Father."
"Come on," Dad said as he lowered his cane. "We're going." Mom and I stayed as they left while Burke kept going on about it being a pleasure to do business with the Malfoys. I let Mom and Burke discuss me investing in the company. Being related, even if distantly, meant that Mom always tried to be a little friendlier with him than Dad did.
"Potter," I whispered. "You shouldn't be here alone. It's not safe. When Mom and I leave, follow us. Quickly bump into me and I'll make sure we help you find your way back to Diagon Alley. We still need to talk. I also recommend you get an Inheritence and Heritage Test done at Gringotts as soon as possible. It'll reveal a few things that may surprise you. We can talk about it more on the train." I quickly made my way over to my Mom when I noticed they were wrapping up the conversation. "Mom?"
"We'll talk about it later, Star," she said and we left. A few moments later, Potter bumped into me.
"Sorry," he said. Mom looked at his scar and gave him an odd look.
"Mr Potter, why are you in Knockturn Alley unsupervised?" Mom asked.
"Oh, er, that's where I am?" Potter looked sheepish. "I was, er, at the Weasleys' place and they had me do this fire thing to travel here and I've never done it before and I must've said it wrong or something because I ended up here."
"Well, this isn't a place for someone as young as you to walk around unsupervised," Mom said. "If it's alright with you, Mr Potter, I'd rather you come with us until you're safely back in Diagon Alley. You never know what people around here will do to a child." Potter paled a little and rapidly nodded.
"Hi," I said. "I'm Cassiopeia Malfoy."
"Harry Potter," he said. He clearly got that I didn't want Mom to know we've met before.
"We're going to Flourish and Blotts to meet up with my Brother and then Draco and I are gonna do some reading while Dad's at Quality Quidditch Supplies and Mom gets our Potions stuff. Right, Mom?"
"Yes, exactly, Star," Mom said as she guided us out of Knockturn Alley. We came across a large guy who recognised Harry and didn't seem to be happy we were with him.
"We were just showing Mr Potter the way out of Knockturn Alley," Mom said but I could tell she was annoyed this guy was judging us without even knowing us.
"She's right, Hagrid," Potter said. "I got lost." Hagrid quickly moved away with Potter.
"Bye, Potter! See you at school!" I yelled as he got lost in the crowd. A few minutes later, we made it to Flourish and Blotts and there was a huge crowd.
"Be careful, Star. Find your Brother as soon as possible. Your Father should be back soon and the three of you will meet me at Ollivanders. Got it?"
"Yes, Mom. Shouldn't we talk to Mrs Weasley about the Prewett Seat, though?"
"Later, Star. Today's not the day for that." I nodded and quickly entered Flourish and Blotts. A few moments later, I felt Mom's Magic start to get further away. I quickly found Draco upstairs watching as Potter got fawned over by Lockhart while looking extremely uncomfortable. We quickly moved to the stairs and sat down. Draco ripped a page out of a book and placed it in his pocket while I scolded him. I grabbed the book and quickly left to pay. When I got back, Draco was standing in front of the Weasleys.
"Oh, look, Potter," Draco said while standing with a Weasley girl right in his face. "You've got yourself a girlfriend." Dad's cane's snake head quickly rested on Draco's shoulder.
"Now, now, Draco," Dad said. "Play nicely."
"Yes, Draco," I said as I quickly stood next to Draco after Dad had gently moved him to the side. "Just because your jealous Potter has a cute girlfriend and you don't, doesn't mean you can be rude about it." Draco scowled.
"Cassie!" Draco whined and I smirked.
"Mr Potter," Dad said after ignoring me. "Lucius Malfoy." He held his hand out and Potter took it. "We meet at last. Forgive me." Dad quickly pulled Potter closer and used the snake head to push Potter's hair away to expose his scar. "Your scar is legend, as, of course, is the Wizard who gave it to you." Careful, Dad, your gay is showing. I tried to not snicker.
"Voldemort killed my parents," Potter said and Dad let go of him as his smile fell. A gorgeous brunette girl came over. "He was nothing more than a murderer." I clenched my fists at that. He's my Father and all he wanted was to ensure Wizarding traditions didn't die out. I've already told Potter that Dumbledore twisted things but clearly his hold on Potter is stronger than I'd thought. Hopefully, I can change that.
"You must be very brave to mention his name," Dad said. "Or very foolish."
"Fear of a name," the brunette girl said. "Only increases fear of the thing itself." Everyone turned to face the girl.
"And you must be, Miss Granger," Dad said. He looked at Draco, who gave a slight nod, and back again at Granger. "Yes. Draco's told me all about you and your parents." Granger looked at a male and female talking to Mr Weasley. "Muggles," Dad said and turned back to Granger who quickly looked back at him with a glare. "Aren't they?" He turned to the others. "Let me see... Red hair, vacant expressions..." Dad took a book out of the female Weasley's cauldron. "Tatty, second-hand book... You must be the Weasleys." Mr Weasley came over.
"Children," Mr Weasley said. "It's mad in here. Let's go outside."
"Well, well, well," Dad said. "Weasley Senior."
"Lucius," he replied.
"Busy time at the Ministry, Arthur, all those extra raids? I do hope they're paying you overtime, but judging by the state of this, I'd say not." Dad showed the book he'd taken from the female Weasley before lowering it. He quickly placed a sleek, shiny, almost new-looking, black book underneath it. I decided to distract them as Dad probably doesn't want to draw attention to the book for whatever reason he had.
"What's the use in being a disgrace to the name of Wizard if they don't even pay you well for it?" I asked and Draco snickered next to me. Everyone but Dad was looking at me as Dad quickly slipped the two books back into the female Weasley's cauldron.
"We have a very different idea about what digraces the name of Wizard, Malfoy," he said as he looked at me with a pitying look.
"Clearly," I said before glancing at Granger's Muggle parents and then Granger. "Associating with Muggles and ensuring your children aren't raised right like your Wife was... And just when I thought you could sink no lower, you're dooming your children and their descendants into forever being labelled just like you. Filthy Bl--"
"Now, now, Cassie," Dad said, cutting me off. "That's not how proper Wixen behave, is it?"
"Of course, Father," I said. "Forgive me. I'm still a little out of sorts from my Inheritence and Heritage Test. You'll understand when you read the results." I twirled the Pendragon Ladyship Ring on my finger and one of the male Weasleys' eyes (I think he's the eldest still in Hogwarts since he's not a twin and not the youngest, who's next to Potter) went wide. Hmm. Maybe one of them was raised right. I'll have to find out more when at school.
"I'll see you at work, Arthur," Dad said before walking out. Draco quickly moved in front of Potter and the youngest male Weasley.
"See you at school," he said before following Dad out of the shop. I walked over to Potter.
"Bye, Potter. Don't forget what I told you and about our talk on the train," I said before following Draco and Dad. I guess it's time to meet Mom at Ollivanders.
...
"Cassie, Draco, we need to talk to you," Mom said once we got back from Diagon Alley. I kept staring at my new wand. It's purple! It's 10 1/2 inches, Dragon Heartstring Core and Ebony Wood. Mom, Sev and Draco have Unicorn Hair Core whilst Dad, Auntie Bella, Blaise and Thema have Dragon Heartstring like me. Mom and Thema's Wand Wood are Ebony like mine whilst Draco and Sev's are Hawthorn, Dad and Blaise's are Elm and Auntie Bella's is Walnut. It's nice having simliarities as it means our Magic is, even slightly, compatible.
"Sure, Mom," I said and Draco nodded. We followed Mom and Dad into Dad's office. Dad and Mom each took an armchair by the fire and Draco and I sat on the sofa. "Is this about my Test results?"
"Yes, Cassie," Mom said.
"Your results have made a few things clear. We'll talk more once Blaise, Thema and Sev are here," Dad said. We waited for a few minutes before Sev came out of the fireplace. He sat down at the end of the sofa. A moment later, Blaise came out of the fireplace and, as he walked over to sit at the other end next to Draco, Thema came out of the fireplace. She made her way to the spot on the sofa between me and Sev. "Now we're all here, we have something important to discuss. As you're all aware, Cassie did her Inheritance and Heritage Test today. The results were quite... Unexpected."
"Unexpected how, Luci?" Sev asked.
"As you're aware, Sev, our Lord Blood Adopted Cassie as he wanted a female Heir. He would've Blood Adopted both Cassie and Draco if Draco had been younger than Cassie--"
"But he wanted a female Heir as his Slytherin Heritage came from his Mother but he still considered both Cassie and Draco his children," Sev interrupted Lucius. Draco looked shocked. I guess Draco and I aren't the only ones who didn't know, given how Thema and Blaise also look shocked right now.
"Yes, well, her Test named Tom Marvolo Riddle as a Blood Adoptive parent and the only one who Blood Adopted her was our Lord," Dad said.
"The Dark Lord's name is Tom?" Blaise asked and Sev, Mom, Thema and Dad all shot him reproachful looks.
"You never call The Dark Lord by his name but no. His name is Voldemort. He hated his Squib Father," Sev said.
