Day 20 Strawberry Peacock Cichlid
Water can sparkle like shattered diamonds especially if or when the sun decides to shine down on the ocean as lazy waves rolled by and a cool breeze washed over everything. You stood there upon the rocks gazing out into the water with your hands over your eyes to help block out the harmful sun's rays from hurting your eyeballs.
There wasn't any signs of either of the guys or girls today which was strange because ever since being brought back here at least one of them would come check on you at least once or twice a day. You thought maybe it was due to what happened to them when the girls were kidnapped and you were hurt my Nori way back then. The scar was still visible on the back of your shoulder from what he did. But today it seemed like no one else was around which was odd. You'd think you'd at least be able to see them swimming off the coast as you usually did. But no. No signs of your husbands or gives anywhere.
Well..maybe they were just busy hunting or something.
You sighed and turned around about to go back inside your small house and do something when some loud splashes of something loud made you pause before turning around and you were met with a pair of pink eyes and a long speckled tail that was red near the waist and then faded to pink. Immediately you smiled at her.
"Hinatsuru! Where have you been? I've been waiting for an hour."
Said mermaid smiled as she got closer to the rocks. "I'm sorry. We've all been really busy with reinforcing the territory since you've been back. Tengen says it's to better protect us in the future."
Well you couldn't argue that. "*sigh* It's ok. I just worry whenever you guys disappear like that."
She nodded. "Then you know how Tengen feels. Oh. Speaking of Tengen he asked me to bring you something since he'd be too busy on patrols today."
"Give me something?"
She nodded and produced an old leather bag from the water and held it out to you. "It's a surprise he hand picked himself."
A surprise huh? You were expecting something like crabs or shrimp which you were opposed to. They were good to eat if you cooked them right. Kneeling down you accepted the wet bag from Hinatsuru as it dripped water. It wasn't moving so maybe it wasn't prey at least not live prey. Opening the top you looked inside only to freeze at what you saw. Your eyes going wide before you looked at Hinatsuru.
"Is this what I think it is?"
She smiled wider nodding. "Yes! We all already have our own jewelry. Tengen thought it was time he gave you your own as well to officially mark you as his own. Here." She raised her arms to gesture you to kneel before her. "I'll help you put it on."
You slowly sat on your knees as Hinatsuru climbed herself up on the rocks next you, took the bags from your hands, and then started pulling shiny jewels out of it. A large platinum chain with polished seashells tied to it was tied around your waist. A pair of Opal earrings was placed on your ears. A pearl bracelet was slapped on your wrists. And finally a gorgeous diamond necklace and a few matching diamond rings were given to you to wear. You must've been awestruck because you just ended up staring at your body and reflection in the water for a long time before she giggled snapping you out of your trance.
"So do you like them?"
"I think they're absolutely beautiful." Gently your hands reached up to touch the smooth wet earrings. "But is it really ok for me to have these?"
"But of course. After all you ARE our wife now."
