Dreamer (Katekyo Hitma nReborn / Game On 5.0)

Dreamer

Sawada Tsunayoshi was quite calm for a five year old.
Very put together too.
If it weren’t for his sunny disposition, that easily endeared him to children and adult alike, his serious eyes, too old for his face, would have probably made him stand out quite a bit among his peers.

But Tsuna had been born with dreams.
Younger, those dreams had been so powerful, he’d sometimes had trouble to differentiate them from reality. And quickly, he’d come to the conclusion – that he was seeing another way his life could have gone.
In another world, very similar to his own – but for the fact he’d been born with a twin sister.
And Tsuna had quickly come to the bitter realization that he liked life with a sister far better than without.
But those dreams were also vivid enough, that he knew that rather than mourn for the fact she hadn’t been born, Kazami would have wanted for him to be happy.
And given what his dreams told him of the future, Tsuna knew he’d have to work hard, to be happy in life.
After all – his life may well lay in the underworld, among blood and danger.
But also – finding life-long bonds.

So by the time he was five year old, Sawada Tsunayoshi wasn’t surprised to see Timotheo “Nono” Vongola in his house – nor by the fact by the mafia boss was so kind.
Still – he refrained from playing with his ball that day, knowing it would lead to him awakening his Flames. And that in his dream-memories, the old Italian man had wanted to seal his powers for this, and only his sister’s quick-wits and silver-tongue had prevented it.
Instead, it was alone that he learned meditation, and a few years later, finally, managed to manifest the beautiful orange Flames that marked him as a Sky.
What he hadn’t expected – were the purple Mist Flames along with it.

Along side trying to awaken his Flames, the young boy hadn’t neglected the other aspects of his life – he’d enrolled in karate, then after realizing that, perhaps thanks to his dreams, he took to it rather quickly, he decided instead to go toward aikido.
To honor a sister who hadn’t been born.
He’d also made friends – little Yamamoto Takeshi never got interested in baseball, as instead he became the boy’s best sparring partner.
Sasagawa Ryohei, not yet obsessed with boxing, whom instead somehow became Kyoya’s best friend, as unlikely as it seemed for someone who’d seen memories of their teenagers’ selves.
Hibari Kyoya himself, naturally, who was maybe even more feral than in his dream-memories.

One after the other, bonds snapped in place.

He was nine year old, and his bond with Kyoya finally stabilized, when the boy’s mother had invited him home, and introduced him to the world of magic.
That, he had expected.
The mythological world, full of demigods and other children of creatures of legends, he really hadn’t, proving him once more that his dreams didn’t quite match the world he was living in.
After all – dream-Kyoya had only been distantly related to daiyoukai.
Not the son half-blood son of a kitsune!

No matter the differences between dreams and reality – Tsuna couldn’t bring himself to regret them, no matter how much he still missed a girl who hadn’t even been born in real life.
Because witnessing his life with Kazami had steered him toward his best-friends, which he knew would be life-long partners – after all, the relation between a Sky and his Guardians was unique, and one he was happy to have found on his own, instead of pressed by time and an unwelcome legacy.

Still, Tsuna has some trouble hiding his surprise when, at thirteen year old, he opens the door one morning – not to Reborn.
But to Renato Sinclair himself.
Still the best hitman in the world – but not cursed, this time, quite the contrary – after all, the man looks decades younger than he really is, but isn’t a baby by any mean. At nearly sixty year old, the fact that hitman looks so young can only have one explanation – he’s a half-blood.
It takes Tsuna months to realize just whose son the man is.
It takes him hours to stop laughing – when he realizes that the man is Eros’ son. But once he stops to think about it, it makes a strange amount of sense.
After all – Eros and Thanatos are twins, and Renato Sinclair is just as skilled in the art of love as he is in the one art of death.

Despite their worlds being different, some things doesn’t change from dream-Tsuna’s own path to becoming the Vongola Decimo.
His guardians, for example, don’t change – though it is rather strange not to share them with his sister.
The fact that they don’t have ChaosGame to help – makes things quite harder, but they still manage, because the future mafia boss knows all that his friends and now famiglia are able to achieve.
Xanxus is freed from his prison once more – but this time, Tsuna is ready, and has already tiped his father off. The Varia Boss is never given the opportunity to imprison his adopted father, and instigate the Ring Battles.
The Ten Year Bazooka does eventually sends them all ten year in the future – thought the Millefiore Boss isn’t quite as dangerous as he was in his memories, kept in check by higher powers. After all, there is no Tri-ni-Siette in this world, merely a mad genius who manages to steal demigods powers. Without any surprise, the gods take a dim view to this, and several of them make Tsuna and his Guardian their champion, imbued with new powers – and entrusted with dealing with Byakuran.
On their return from the future, they met the Simon famiglia, once again manipulated by a Demon Spade clinging to the mortal realm – this time, the wraith is exorcised by specialists from the Vatican Nono calls when he realizes what his heir is against.

All in all, by the time he’s in his mid-twenties, Sadawa Tsunayoshi is well respected in the underworld, has ties in the wixen and mythological world, and it’s surrounded by his friends and Guardians that he ascend, once more, to the position of Vongola Decimo, intent, just like in his dreams, on taking the old mafia famiglia to its roots, and well on his way to achieve it.

When the time comes for the ball’s first dance, he misses his sister’s presence keenly.
An ethereal woman takes his hand, as if it had always been the plan, and he’s barely surprised to realize he knows her.
She is one of the few people from his dream-memories he hasn’t been able to meet. After all – the Girl-Who-Lived, in this world, never became the Woman-Who-Won. But the One-Who-Sacrificed. And that changed drastically the wixen world, enough that the next civil war among them never happened.
Meaning that until now, he’d had no reason to meet the woman who, once-upon-a-dream, had left Britain only because she was the last of her friends alive.

“Kazami would be proud of you.” says Luna Lovegood with a warm smile
Tsuna feels his heart warm at that statement – after all, the Faë-like woman had never been one for lies.
“Was she…” he hesitates, and finally ask what he’s been wondering, ever since he’s heard about the many differences in this wixen world compared to his dreams “Her?”
“Adrasteia Lyra Potter.” Luna Lovegood nods, “Her parents were more traditional this time around.” she laughed “But she was her.” she agrees, “Harriet Potter,” a smile, “Sawada Kazami.” he isn’t really surprised, when she continues, “Ariana Elric. Taishou Tsukiko. Hatake Kazami.” her smiles grow both wider, and sadder as she repeat,“Adrasteia Potter.”
“And she sacrificed herself.” a sigh “Once more.”
“She was the hero this time.” Luna answers, as if it explains all
And it does in a way – even when she told him he was the hero of the story, she’d been far too self-sacrificing after all.
“Was she happy?”
“She was.” Luna agrees
“Then I’ll be too.”
“You’ll be.” Luna agrees once more, “Dreaming has done you good.”
Suddenly, he knows, with the unnerving certainty of the Vongola Hyper Intuition.
“Oh. You’re the one who gave me those dreams.” he smiles “Thanks.”
She curtsied, as the first waltz ends, and before disappearing in the crowd, nods and smiles to him one last time.

Tsuna doesn’t see Luna in life again – and when he opens his eyes, again, in Death’s Isles, he isn’t surprised to see the strange woman again. After all, in this moment, he now remembers again – their talk, before he’d decided to be incarnated again, with memories of a previous life, in a similar but not identical life.
After all – Kazami, or rather Shadow, may be a goddess of heroes, she’d already seen him through his destiny once, he couldn’t well expect her to do it again, except in dire circumstances. There were countless people to help, all around the multitude of world and realities!
While Luna, with her powers as a goddess of Dream – could give him dreams, and see how it changed his life.
His only regret in this second round as Sawada Tsunayoshi – is that he wasn’t born soon enough, to meet his sister again, even if they wouldn’t have been blood related this time around…
But he knows that he’ll see her again soon.
After all, the goddess that was once his sister is also Death and Chaos’ sister, and as such, she makes quite a few stops in Death’s Islands, where she can meet again countless family members, from the numerous lives she’s lived.
So taking Luna’s hand with a fond smile, he follows the ethereal goddess toward the rest of Shadow’s friends and family.
