Week 5.
Jane liked Mabel, she really did and was appreciative of what she was doing, but she couldn't take another minute of the woman taking care of her, she had to do something else then lie in bed and watch movies and eat chicken soup all day.
she decided she'd risk going outside for just a bit, and explore the town. Something she really hadn't done much of because of the unpacking, working and the restaurant and feeling like general crap.
it actually took her a bit longer to explore the town then expected, it seemed like every time she entered a building she had to use the restroom, oddly not due to any Cold reasons, but she kept having to go, she heard HRT could cause problems like that but not to this extent.
she hadn't had this problem before, she was starting to think she should call the local clinic, she then Decided she'd wait it out a little longer and if it got worse then she'd go, jane finally got to the center of town.
There were a lot of shops she wanted to check out.
She had wanted to visit the flower shop with a pretty brunette attending the display but something about all the scents drifting in her direction just made her feel more nauseous.
She quickly ducked into the shop right next to it and closed the door, there was a girl behind the counter in a beanie and red jacket with a necklace, or was it a choker? Jane couldn't tell. She was talking to another girl with glasses behind the counter with the first one as well, the girl in the jacket seem to just notice her, before saying, "hey, I haven't seen your face around in town before, I'm steph and this is alex, welcome to the store, I can help you find something if you'd like, what kinda music are you into?".
Jane wasn't sure how to answer that, she'd looked around the store and most of it seemed to be alternative indie bands in record format, the only time she had ever been a record player was when she was little.
it was more her parents thing then hers, she did enjoy some good old fashioned country music, and oldies rock, she didn't think they'd have the first thing that came to mind, but couldn't hurt to ask, "got any, Bob segar?"
She saw Alex in the back snicker, "thats a little too retro when it comes to our store, try again old timer"
Old timer?, this girl looked only about 5 years younger then her, Jane thought.
"OK how about some recommendations then kid." If this girl was going to give her a hard time for being 30 then she was going to dish it out back.
Steph led her around the store and then started recommending stuff based on vibes, she also noticed steph looking back at Alex every now and then who would shake her head, or nod after every suggestion, jane had left the record store with a few cassette tapes and records, steph even threw in a record player and a cassette player for free, aside from being called old thing, jane appreciated the customer service.
The next stop on janes tour was the only restaurant that seemed to be in the area, which was a bar, she figured she just order a sandwich and hoped they had soda on hand along with the alcoholic drinks, those were just not something she was interested in.
The patrons and staff were nice enough but she did get a few odd looks, she couldn't help get the feeling that a majority of the town wasn't fond of new comers and it would take a bit to find her place in it.
After finishing up in town, jane headed back to the house, she saw a very irritated looking Mable and Rachel, uh oh. That was the look they gave when she messed up big time, which wasn't often but it only needed to happen once for her to know it.
The rest of the afternoon she spent getting a lecture from both of them about overdoing it and how she should be resting.
