Screams echoed off the walls of Hogwarts as Order Members, students and Death eaters yelled spells left, right and center. Blaise Zabini ignored it all as he ran down the hallways trying to escape a Death Eater intent on casting an unforgivable.

He had stepped up and defended a mudblood. Actually, the mudblood had been Hermione Granger and another Death Eater had seen him do it. He was in deep trouble and he knew it.

He sprinted around a corner and before he could find a place to hide he was hit with a stunner. He fell and slid a foot or more before he came to a stop. He willed his body to move so he could escape, but it was of no use.

“Well, well. What have we here?” a cruel voice spoke as the Death Eater stood over him. “Do we have a blood traitor? Did you enjoy defending the mudblood?” the man kicked him in his ribs and he groaned at the pain it caused.

It roused him from his stunned state and he rolled, his foot coming out to make contact with the death Eaters stomach. The man doubled over, a wheeze the only sound he could make.

Blaise jumped to his feet and threw a punch, knocking the Death Eater to the ground.

Without even a second glance he was sprinting off again, intent on getting away from the action.

He heard footsteps echoing his own and he knew he was being followed. He saw the front doors of the castle ahead and he put on an extra burst of speed. When he reached them he slammed into them, bursting free and taking in a lungful of the fresh air.

He tried to make a run for the Forbidden Forest, but stopped short when he came upon a group of Gryffindors. They didn’t even hesitate to throw hexes his way and he had to drop and roll to avoid being hit.

He jumped back up to his feet and held his wand out intending to hex them all, but was stopped when a feminine voice yelled out “Expelliarmus!” Only it wasn’t his wand that flew away, but the Gryffindors before him. All four turned and stared in shock at Hermione Granger, but she ignored them and turned to Blaise.

He stared in wonder at her. “Granger?” he questioned softly.

She shrugged. “You saved me, Zabini, I save you.”

He grinned widely before taking off again. He really did not want to fight in this war.
