Meet and greet

sunlight poured into the city's dim alleyways, highlighting the dust and grime which covered the gravel floor.
bodies by bodies, once live inhabitants of this formally beautiful town, were now stacked on top of each other- lifelessly.
regulus had been here more than enough times; he knew that it was more likely than not to stumble upon corpses and to smell the stench of their dried blood or even hear zombies and wilderness feasting on any flesh they could find…the noise of the zombies’ teeth clattering against bones greedily was enough to send a shiver down anyone's spine, even the most heartless.
but still, he had to keep moving.
Barty and Pandora brought up the rear as regulus lead them; he had made Evan stay and wait for the others to wake up and Dorcas was up to her own little crafty contraptions to try catch some dinner.
Barty had his crossbow in his hand, his grip loose, and pandora brought only a pistol- which was tucked into her pocket.
“Does anyo-eh- copy-eh- does- “there was a radio tossed on a pavement corner, occasionally cutting off or malfunctioning but otherwise in perfect condition. Regulus glanced around, his stormy grey eyes narrowing as he scanned for any sign of life besides the others, who had now caught up to him.
“You going to try find out where the broadcast is coming from?” Barty grunted, nodding his head towards the radio in Regulus’ pale palm.
Regulus shook his head, pocketing the radio. “Nah…too risky- whoever it is ‘ll probably just be trying to find people to nick supplies off of.”
Barty scoffed and pandora glared a little at Barty, clearly not happy with his response.
“let’s move!” regulus clapped his hands, the trio resumed walking.
Usually, zombies were crowding the city streets, but few days ago, a sewer pipe broke deep in the city, so now the smell of must pretty much camouflaged the smell of rotting carcases; meaning the undead weren’t exactly hogging the area- though some would undoubtedly come out before noon.
“What are we here for anyways?” Barty whined, kicking the floor miserably.
“Supplies. Now keep your damn voice down- there’s still zombies about.” Regulus said quietly, peering around a corner before signalling that it was clear.
Eventually, the trio approached a familiar building; the windows and doors were boarded up but inside was an underground tunnel that led pretty much anywhere in the city- Regulus was certain the zombies didn’t know about it yet.
He climbed the ladder first, helping the others get up one by one.
The roof looked the same- deserted no doubt and untouched by any other form of life.
“Its useless, Door wont open…” Barty, who was usually the one for barging his way in places, rubbed his shoulder.
Regulus huffed, passing his pistol to Pandora as he went to assist Barty. “It can’t be locked from the inside. You’d need- “
“The keys. Obviously, someone else found the keys and now we can’t get in.” Barty sighed.
“No. Someone can’t have found the keys-it’s impossible…no keys were here when me and Evan came.” Pandora butted in quickly.
“Well, someone’s found them.”
Regulus rubbed the back of his head, taking a deep breath of the polluted air. “We’d better hope they haven’t left the key inside the other end of the door then.” He muttered, putting his hand in his pocket and retrieving a small, jagged knife.
CLICK!
After mere moments of trying, the door unlocked, revealing a flight of stairs.
“You first, Sherlock.” Regulus muttered, pushing Barty Infront of him.
Barty took a quick look around before walking down the stairs, checking for any undead creatures. “Clear.”
Pandora and regulus moved forwards, letting Barty lead. There was nothing out of the ordinary-well nothing besides a new eyewatering stench. The trio covered their mouths and noses with the necklines of their shirts, approaching the Basement. When they finally reached it, Regulus held out a hand, signalling for the other pair to halt.
“what’s wrong?” Pandora whispered
“Listen...” Regulus said in a hushed tone.
Barely audible, though it was, was The sound of muttering, coming from the tunnel.
“Rotters?” Pandora whispered, using the nickname she often gave the zombies, claiming that the term ‘zombie’ made 0 sense.
Regulus help up his hand, signalling for silence.
“-I told you, Peter, this is the way.” A confident voice sounded from many floors above the basement.
Barty tightened his grip on his crossbow, lifting it to face the doorway in case of a sudden attack.
“That won’t be necessary.” The cold tone of a new person’s words approaching the group. It was a tall girl with shaggy blonde hair. She held a large sword-like weapon by her side, one far lengthier than that of Evans. She ascended from the depth of the tunnel where Regulus had planned to take Pandora and Regulus down, as it lead to the building full of the supplies they needed.
Pandora let out a nervous squeal, hiding behind Barty as he shut one eye for better aim as he prepared to shoot at the girl.
The girl drew her sword “Oh, great, I do love challenges.” She smiles in a rather manically way- so much so that it made even Regulus afraid.
Barty didn’t put down his crossbow. “How ‘bout you tell me what youre doin’ here, pretty girl?” Barty ordered.
“Or what?” the girl spat, her smile not faltering as she came right up to the group, standing still whilst she waited for Bartys response.
“Or this arrow goes through your skull.” He says bluntly.
“Hey!” the confident voice from before now came from the entrance.
“What the hell’s going on here, Marls?”
