Chapter 2
The four new comers have been whispering furiously to each other for the past ten minutes. Well, Leo and Annabeth are. Jason and Percy are still upset they didn’t get to finish their uno game.
Regulus frowns. “Isn’t uno that card game that came out… four years ago?” He glances to Remus for confirmation, who shrugs.
Jason turns to him. “It came out in 1971, so if you’re correct about the date, then yes, it would be four years ago.” He says, glancing at Leo, who’s angrily dragging his hands down his face, groaning.
Sirius raises a brow. “I heard it’s not all that good.” He grumbles. He jumps slightly when Percy gives an offended gasp.
“Uno is an AMAZING game!” He argues, crossing his arms, looking more like an angry child than the intimidating adult he wants to.
‘Am I the only sane one?’ Remus inwardly sighs before placing a hand on Sirius’s shoulder. “Siri, it probably get popular in the… future.” He cringes. That sounds weird.
“Do muggles have flying cars yet?” James pipes in. That captures Jason’s attention, who pales considerably.
“You want FLYING cars?!” He asks, his tone breathless and strained. “You wanna be in the sky?! No… nononononono. Leave the flying to birds.” He shakes his head.
James snorts. “We have a game called quidditch. We fly on broomsticks.”
Jason squeaks. “Well stop playing!” He snaps. “You do NOT want to mess with flying! I can do it, and trust me, it SUCKS.”
That catches Regulus’s attention. “You can fly?” He asks, raising a brow. “With what spell?”
Leo’s attention is momentarily diverted. “Why would he need a spell?” He grumbles. “HES a son of Zeus.” Before going right back to spewing mumbo jumbo not even Remus understands with Annabeth.
Speaking of, Remus puts an arm around Sirius’s shoulders, who seems to unwillingly melt into the contact, his hard and grumpy persona slowly fading. “Son of Zeus? That Greek god guy?”
Jason shivers. “Don’t… say his name.” He sighs. “Wait.” He glances up to the sky, cups his hands around his mouth, and shouts, “ZEUS! ITS YOUR KID!! HELLO?!?!”
Percy cackles. “The first and only time we want your dad to notice us.” He muses, causing Sirius to snort in daddy issues.
Jason continues to yell to the heavens, which makes conversation a bit hard. But you know, go on. Don’t mind us.
Leo rolls his eyes, and his arm snaps out, touching the back of Jason’s shirt. The fabric quickly catches fire, causing him to gape at Leo angrily, making no move to put it out.
Sirius yelps and pales, the fire crackling deep in his ears, painful memories of his parents doing literally ANYTHING to harm him flooding in his mind.
He surges forward, before Remus can stop him, kneeling before Jason and desperately trying to out it out.
Regulus, on the other hand, goes for Leo. He had witnessed Sirius be harmed time and time again get beat, set on fire, water boarded, cursed. To see someone do it to their partner so casually…
Annabeth shrieks in surprise as Leo is tackled, Regulus’s fist meeting his face. Chaos explodes as the two gremlins wrestle, both getting good hits in.
James and Remus make no move to stop the fight. Remus is caught off guard when his feet are swept from under him, and something akin to pure fear—something he hadn’t felt in so long— fills his mind, instinct taking over as he goes hand to hand with Percy.
Annabeth, feeling a bit left out, gets to her feet and walks up to James, who is looking a bit panicked. She puts her hand out, presumably for a handshake. He’s absolutely confused, but accepts it.
He’s suddenly yanked forward and thrown over Annabeth’s shoulders, landing with a loud yell and a thud on his back, only to be struck by Annabeth’s boot.
———
Professor Minerva Mcgonagall is losing her mind. She feels the presence of a sibling—godly sibling— and she doesn’t know from where. Jupiter’s blood runs in the child, and she feels… weird.
Obviously, she’s a goddess. You can’t be her age and look that young. And, she deals with James, Sirius, Regulus, and Remus. She HAS to be a goddess.
She’s walking the perimeter of the school, when she feels this child use a flash of magic. Storm clouds rumble over Hogwarts, lightning flashing in a suspiciously private area of the school grounds. Students scream and hurry to put jackets over their head as rain begins to pour.
Mcgonagall frowns and hurries over, casting a spell to keep her dry.
As she approaches the area, she hears yelling voices, slightly muffled by rain.
“HE FUCKING SET YOU ON FIRE! OF COURSE IM GOING TO BEAT HIS ASS!”
“I SET HIS SHIRT ON FIRE THERES A DIFFERENCE YOU IDIOT!”
“WHY DID YOU ATTACK ME?!”
“Everyone else was attacking people I felt left out. Wait..”
Child. Mcgonagall feels a rush of someone of her own bloodline, magic being utilized as each second passes.
“…mom?” The same voice, a girl, calls out. It’s loud in the storm, and Minerva picks up her pace. One of her godly children are here, messing with students and a son of Jupiter. Along with that, she’s not HER child, she’s Athena’s. There’s a big difference.
She turns the corner to see… quite the scene. “Why is it always you four?” She demands, seeing James, Remus, Sirius, and Regulus, all of which look bruised and battered.
“He started it!” Regulus points to a boy Minerva doesn’t recognize.
She raises a brow, seeing the annoyingly bright orange shirt, before gaping. “Why are you here?!” She demands. “Why aren’t you at camp half blood?!”
Sirius raises a brow, crossing his arms. “You know them?” He asks.
“Mom!” Annabeth sighs gratefully.
“Mom?!” All four wizards repeat, glancing between Mcgonagall and Annabeth.
“No, child. I’m Minerva.” The woman answers tightly, causing the girl to deflate. “Speaking of, son of Jupiter! Cease this storm at once!”
The son of Jupiter reveals to be a tall and thin blonde boy, with grey eyes rivaling the now raging sky, anger boiling in their depths. “You get them away from us then!” He snaps. “One of them leapt at Leo and started hitting him!”
“He set you on fire!” Regulus argues.
Minerva is studying Leo, who has a bruised face, and dirty clothes, but the smell of fire and metal lingers. “Son of Hephaestus.” She announces. “You have complete control of your fire, do you not?”
Leo glares at her before responding. “Of course I do.” He answers snappily.
“How can you control fire?” Remus asks. “I understand with a spell—“ he spits out water and wipes his face, looking a bit pathetic drenched to the bone like that, “but you just.. set him ablaze.”
Leo sighs. “How have you not noticed? We’re demigods! Children of gods! I’m the child of the god of fire! You should have gotten these hints after Jason started screaming for Zeus!”
Minerva interrupts. “Yes, and none of you are meant to be here. Why are you not at camp halfblood?”
Annabeth cringes, combing her fingers through Percy’s messy hair, which looks fine. “Yeah, well, we were trying to make a teleporter between the two camps—“
“The two camps have an ever going rivalry.” Minerva says haughtily, glaring at Annabeth.
She nods. “It’s solved… in our time, at least..”
“How?”
“Can I say my story?”
Everyone is silent for a moment as Annabeth challenges an intimidating figure, Regulus narrowing his eyes at Mcgonagall’s twitching lips.
“Go ahead.”
Annabeth sighs. “Well, we were working on a teleporter between the two camps, and we’ll… it worked… it just also sent us back in time.”
Mcgonagall hums. “I see. Well, you need to go back.”
Leo gives Annabeth a look. “Yeah, Annabeth. We need to go back.” He taunts.
She glares at Leo. “Fine! I’m sorry!” She turns back to Mcgonagall with a wince. “You see… I might have… messed up a few calculations and…”
“Long story short, we can’t go back.” Leo cuts in.
“… Leo, that was hella dramatic.” Percy mutters, trying to hold back a laugh.
Mcgonagall, however, is not amused. “You all are STUCK here?” She demands.
The rain slowly dissipates, a few drops landing on Miverva.
“Yes.” Jason speaks up, seeming to be the most professional besides Annabeth, despite the way he has Leo in a headlock. “So can we have a place to stay?”
“I think we skipped a few steps—“ Regulus speaks up.
“No!” Leo says loudly. “No, no, this feels right. I wanna stay at this big emo castle.” He announces, and Percy nods in agreement.
Minerva sighs. “… fine, allow me to find a house that would suit you. It would seem preferably together.”
