So Very Lucky
Summary
Kind of Short fic of soft/married KACY and their daughter with a sprinkling of Jane Tennant. Kate loves her family.3rd POV, but Kate focused.

In a two-story house down the street from one of the many beaches of Oahu, laid on a couch, are two women in love. The moonlight shines through the dimly lit house and the waves can barely be heard from the open windows over the light sound of the reality TV show Lucy had put on earlier. Outside, darkness hides the mailbox at the front of the house, proudly proclaiming 'The Whistlers' on the side in black lettering while a pink tricycle stands, tucked into the side of the garage, adorned in streamers and stickers courtesy of the little Whistler. Nothing moving, but the streamers slightly swaying in the wind.

On the inside, much is the same. A blonde woman lies on a comfortable couch, face turned towards the TV and her eyes closed. A smaller brunette woman lies on top of her, face tucked into her wife's' neck, eyes also closed, while a pale hand rakes through her dark tresses, ever so slowly and softly. Their breathing even, matched, and slow; lungs taking time to fill up with air before softly expelling it, and repeating. Neither woman is sleeping. Both in a state of relaxation, bathed in the darkness, the almost quietness, and the love in their home. Pictures adorn the room, filled with the smiling faces of their Ohana, adding to that love. The quietness is slightly disturbed by the buzzing of a phone.

Kate slowly reaches under the cushions for her phone, being careful not to disturb her Zen wife. "Luce, baby," she says, slightly shaking the brunette in her arms, "Jane just texted, she'll be here with Ellie in five minutes". A smile lilts across Lucy's face as her eyes open and her arm moves to Kates' chest, using her to sit up slightly so she's eye-level with her love, "looks like date nights over" she whispers looking into those brown eyes she loves so much. Kate returns her smile and leans in for a long and slow kiss, murmuring against her lips, "you know you missed your mini-me" before slightly moving away. It's true, little Elizabeth Jane Whistler is the carbon copy of her mother, with dark brown curls, hazel eyes, and tanned skin, but her personality is all Kate. "You know I do, but are you sure she's not your mini-me? I mean, I don't know any other five-year old's that color-code their bookshelf or runs home to do their homework," she says with a smirk ... and a yawn.

Kate looks at Lucy adoringly, "maybe you should head up to bed, you're exhausted. I can take care of Ellie when Jane gets here," Kate whispers. "No, I'll be fine for a few more minutes and I wanna see my baby," Lucy replies with a soft pout. Kate laughs at her wife's' antics and gives her another kiss while a knock rings into the home. "I'll be right back," Kate utters while softly untangling from Lucy and walking to the door. There stands Jane, with a pink backpack hanging off one shoulder, and a little girl in footie pajamas sleeping on the other. Kate smiles and reaches for her daughter, kissing her forehead while she adjusts the girl onto her hip and tucks her head into her own shoulder. "How was she?" Kate whispers. "You know her, she was an angel all night, though I think she tired everyone out." Jane says with a smirk, "when I left, Alex and Julie were snoring on the couch," both women laugh. "Thank you so much Jane, for watching her. Lucy and I haven't had a date night in months, I think we needed this." Kate breathes out, starting to feel how late it has gotten.

Both women look at Lucy, lying in the same spot on the couch, snoring softly, "No problem, you know I'd watch El-J anytime." Jane replies, causing Kate to smile at the use of the nickname the guys made up for their niece. Knowing how much she looks like her mother, El-J was the perfect nickname for Lucy's mini-me. "I mean, she is basically Lucy Junior! She's LJ!" Jessie had exclaimed at the hospital when the Ohana had come to see the Whistlers' new addition. "Hey! And it works with her middle name too! Elizabeth Jane, El-J!" Ernie chimes in. And so was created one of the little girls' most popular nicknames. "How is Lucy?" Jane asks, startling Kate out of her memories. The blonde sighs with a slight smile on her face, "she's good, she's glowing, but she's tired all the time, the baby takes a lot out of her. We aren't that worried though, you know I was the same with Ellie," she smiles wider, thinking back on her own pregnancy, "I'm sure it'll go away in the third trimester like it did with me, though Lucy isn't as optimistic". Both women laugh and the movement jostles the girl in Kate's arms, waking her up. "Momma?," she whispers. "Shh, it's alright, we're all gonna go to sleep now okay? Say goodnight to Auntie Janie and then you can go to bed, sweetness," Kate murmurs in her daughter's ear. "Bye bye Auntie," Jane smiles and hands Kate the backpack while gently leading a hand down the little girls' arm, "goodnight sweet girl" she replies, saying a quick bye to Kate as she turns around to leave.

The little girl in Kates' arms quickly falls back asleep with her mothers' hand gliding down her back and Kate makes her way upstairs to Ellie's room. Putting her down gently in bed and kissing her forehead one last time before going downstairs to get her wife and turn off the TV. "Honey? Wake up, we need to go to bed," Kate whispers while running a hand down Lucy's back. "Hmm," Lucy hums as she wakes up, "Jane get here yet?". "Yes baby, I've already got Ellie in bed, it's our turn now," Kate says softly. Lucy nods, slowly getting up, the blanket falling off her lap and revealing her swollen belly. Her hands immediately go down to cradle her growing baby and Kate smiles at the action, marveling at the cuteness of her wife and her own memories of doing the same before Ellie was born. Slowly, they both ascend the staircase and Lucy disappears into her daughter's room to kiss her goodnight while Kate looks in from the doorway, thinking about how lucky she is to have this life, to have this family.

The wives make their way to their bed and lie down facing each other. Kate lays her hand on her wife's belly and smiles again. After kissing Lucy, she lowers herself down to whisper to her littlest love, "Hi my baby boy," above her Lucy lets out a sleepy smile, loving when her wife talks to their baby. "You were so good for Mommy today, and now it's time to sleep. We are so excited to meet you baby". After leaving a few kisses on her wife's belly, she lays down on her side and moves a hand to Lucy's face, caressing her thumb over her cheek. "Thank you for carrying our baby," she whispers before leaning in for a couple soft kisses. " Lucy turns over and Kate molds her body to her wife's', holding her from behind, hiding her face in her thick hair, and resting her hand on their growing baby, entangling it with Lucy's. Their rings clinking together softly and glinting in the soft moonlight coming in from the windows. "I love you" Lucy whispers. "I love you too my sweet," Kate responds, taking a deep breath and closing her eyes. Once again thinking about her luck to have such an amazing and loving family, she thinks of her brother Noah, and knows that he would be so proud of her. With that thought, she drifts off to sleep and dreams of how their life will be, when another little Whistler is added to their family. Yes, she was so very lucky.
