Cat Watches Wolf
Minerva McGonagall was no stranger to nightmares, when she was a kid she didn't get them very often. But now as a adult who had many things to worry about, such things include her wife and son, caused nightmares to become a normal thing. Also being a spy for Dumbledore never helped ease her brain but oh well.
She was frozen in place as she watched a group of death eaters surround her son and wife. "REMUS. POPPY LOOK OUT!!" She yelled as she fought to break free from whatever held her in place, but had no success. She watched as Remus and Poppy slowly turned around just to go limp immediately. "AVADA KAVADA!" She heard a voice yell, a voice that would haunt her forever.
It was her own voice.
Minerva choked back a scream as she saw herself turn around with a wand in hand, smoking at the tip as the green glow started to fade from it. She saw herself smirk as they saw her terrified expression. "What? Scared Minerva? Of a spell? One that you have casted before?" They laughed as Minerva's attention focused on the two bodies that lay limp on the floor.
"NO. NO. STOP!"
She shot up straight with a gasp, breathing heavy as she moved her hand to the bedside table to grab her glasses. She slid them onto her nose and took a minute to recognise her surroundings. She was in her bedroom, the bedroom she shared with Poppy. Poppy who was nowhere to be seen.
Minerva panicked for a moment, what if she had actually hurt Poppy? What if Poppy- her thoughts were interrupted by her eyes spotting a note on Poppy's beside table, she quickly leaned over the now cold side of the bed and grabbed it.
'Hospital Wing, don't stay up waiting for me,love you.' the note read.
Minerva took in a deep breath before breathing out, Poppy was safe in the hospital wing doing her job. But she knew she wouldn't rest until she knew Remus was okay too. So she threw off the bed covers, put her slippers and dressing gown on and exited her own bedroom in search for her sons.
Once she arrived outside the boys door, she quietly and slowly opened it, making sure to not wake up Remus who she could hear snore. She smiled softly at the sight of her boy.
Remus had thrown the covers all the up to his neck and was snoring loudly as he slept deep. She knew he wouldn't sleep well tomorrow but couldn't bring herself to wake the boy. Instead she settled for leaning against the doorway and taking in the sight with a smile on her face and tug in her heart.
Eventually she convinced herself that Remus was okay and closed his door quietly and gently and made her way make to her room.
Happy to see her son was actually sleeping instead of reading until some mad hour in the morning (something he learned from her)
