Severus Snape
September 5 1971:
The next day proved to be more interesting. In the morning they had History of Magic with Professor Binns, who was a ghost that bored everyone to death. James and Sirius passed notes to each other the entire period, talking about ,what Remus was assumed was, how the ghost teacher died. Which was a fair question that seemed to never be answered by anyone. Peter had fallen asleep and was drooling onto his desk and Remus was the only one who actually took notes, he would share them with the others later on.
Their next class was Potions, which they shared with Slytherins. The boys hadn't had any classes with the other house yet which ,Remus thought, was for the best as the two houses seemed to have it out for each other.
Remus sits next to Sirius while James and Peter find a different table. Remus noticed some of the Slytherins looking at Sirius and pointed it out to him. "The Slytherins keep staring at you." He mumbled quietly as Professor Slughorn began the lesson, Remus knew he wouldn't be picked on by Slughorn as the man would regular let Remus join him while he brewed potions and Slughorn would want to see who else knew their potions and who to ignore the rest of the year.
"Course they are, my cousins probably spreading rumours about me." Sirius muttered back angrily as he wrote onto his piece of parchment. Remus said nothing and let the boy take his anger out on the piece of parchment.
It would only be 10 minutes later when Slughorn left the room to talk to Professor Kettleburn, who taught Care of Magical Creatures, that James and Peter would learn how bad Slytherins could be. Remus and Sirius already knew all about it.
"Hey Black." a boy with greasy black hair and a rather long nose spoke from behind them and leaned over his desk. "What's it like being a blood traitor?" he asked, Sirius turned around in his seat and looked at the boy. Remus moved his seat away from Sirius slightly to gain some personal space and have a better view of the scene that was bound to happen.
"Who the hell are you?" Sirius asked the boy, crossing his arms onto the back of his chair and leaned in closer. "Severus Snape." replied the boy as he kept eye contact with Sirius. "Friends with Cissy and Bella, aren't you?" Snape nodded. "Right, Snivellus. You and the rest of them can all fuck off and leave me the hell alone." Sirius spat.
Snape's eyebrows drew closer together before he leaned back into his chair and crossed his arms. "Well I suppose a Mudblood lover like yourself can't help but be so-" Snape never finished as Remus Lupin was suddenly on his feet and his fist met with Snape's nose. Snape groaned as blood poured out his nose. "You're a lunatic! Loony Lupin! That's what you are!" Snape yelled before Slughorn returned to the classroom and stared at the scene.
"Oh my, what has happened here?" Slughorn asked as he saw the blood dripping from Snape's nose and Remus standing. "He attacked me sir!" Snape's voice went from being rather quiet and deep for a 11 year old too high pitched and whiny. Sirius was soon up on his feet as well "That's not what-" but Slughorn shushed them.
"Mr Snape go to Madam Pomfrey, she'll fix you right up." he told the bleeding boy gently before turning to Remus and Sirius "You can both explain yourselves to Professor McGonagall. I do not want to hear it." he snapped.

Minerva McGonagall was considering retiring for the fifth time this year and she had only taught two days so far. She sighed as the boys finished their story on why Severus Snape had a bleeding nose, it was only the three of them so she allowed herself to slip out of her very strict and stern teacher persona and into Remus's mum.
"So you punched him in response?" Her eyebrows were raised in surprise, her son was full of surprises but punching someone was knew. "Yeah? He was being weird against muggle-borns!" Remus raised his voice but a glare from Professor McGonagall quickly had him hanging his head. Sirius was stood as still as a statue, like he if were to move he would be murdered on the spot.
McGonagall just looked at the two boys before smiling slightly. "As much as you shouldn't have punched him Mr Lupin, I am glad to hear your heart was in the right place. You'll have detention with me on Friday night." she said with a stern voice. Remus than realised that Friday was the full moon, she would probably make him help Poppy in the infirmary over the holidays but would let him off easy since the full moon was so close.
Remus nodded before she shifted her gaze to Sirius. "Mr Black, you'll receive no punishment as you had no involvement in the physical fight but seem to have just been caught in the crossfire. It'll be five points taken from Gryffindor but you're both very smart boys. I am sure you will gain them back in no time if Mr Potter and Mr Pettigrew haven't already." she nodded to the boys and watched as Sirius seemed to relax that he was not being punished.
As the two boys left, a knock at the window caught her attention. It was an owl that she recognised at Poppy's, the owl held out their leg for Minerva to untie the roll of parchment before flying off.
She quickly read through her wife's letter. 'Remus broke Mr Snape's nose. Whatever happened must of been bad but I can assume you'll tell me later. I saw Narcissa and Bellatrix Black talking to Severus and handing him, what I can assume was some coins. Severus seems to be a rather quiet and collected boy, I believe he's gotten himself into a rough crowd of people are was trying to impress them.'
Minerva sighed but couldn't do much to help the boy, he was a Slytherin and Horace was his head of house. If the situation gets worse than she'll be able to step in but she hopes that it doesn't come to that.
She saw James and Peter run past her room, both most likely trying to find the other half of their group. The sight brought a smile to her face until she remembered she now had to fill an incident report.
