Minerva McGonagall and Harry Potter's Hogwarts Letter
Minerva McGonagall was in the middle of signing Hogwarts Letters when she noticed it. One of the letters was not written in English. It was not this that bewildered her - she was the one performed the spell that would make it so that the letters were in the language the recipient was most comfortable in - but that it was not in any human language. In fact, the contents of the letter was written in Felinetongue, the language of cats.
Minerva looked at the name on the letter. Mr H Potter. James and Lily's son. Minerva could vaguely recall that Lily and James had had a cat. The cat must have taken care of Harry after Lily and James had died. If Harry didn't know any human languages, how would he be able to study at Hogwarts? Unless... was there a spell that could give people knowledge of other languages? Maybe Albus would know.
Minerva headed up to Albus's office, giving the gargoyle the latest password ("Sugar Quills") and ascending the stairs that led to the Headmaster's office. Right as she was about to raise her hand to knock on the door, Albus himself called out, "Enter." Briefly, she wondered how he always did that. Was there a spell that told him if someone was outside his office? Dismissing the thought, Minerva pushed the door open and stepped into the office.
"Ah, Minerva," he greeted her. "I trust you're well?"
"I am perfectly well. That's not why I came here." Minerva handed him the letter. "It's in Felinetongue and addressed to Harry Potter. There is, as we suspected, no address. I'm guessing that James and Lily's cat was the one who raised him. How is he to get to Hogwarts if we don't know where to find him?"
"That does complicate matters," Albus mused. "The cottage is in Godric's Hollow, we know that much. Perhaps you could add to the letter and ask them to meet you at the park there?"
Minerva nodded. "That could work. I was also wondering whether you knew of a spell that could give someone knowledge of other languages."
"There is one, yes. I just have to find it." Albus started rummaging around the room, before he brandished a piece of parchment in triumph. "Aha! Here it is!" He handed it to her and she took it.
"Thank you, Albus. This will certainly make matters simpler."
"I'm glad I could help."
She nodded and then headed back to her office, happy to have a plan.
