Chapter 5
All cats chose their names when they were still young and when had been proven ready to do so. Sel could still remember her own Naming as clearly as if it had just happened. It had been a few days before she had been taken in by Dark-Male-Human and Red-Female-Human. After the blessing by The Catamura, a circle had formed around her, waiting silently. She had closed her eyes and searched deep within herself for the part of her that connected her to Catalina, the Queen and Creator of Cats. When she had found it, she felt a name vibrating through her in a voice that was strangely familiar and yet she had never heard it before. 'Sel, the voice had whispered. You are Sel, the Mother of Kings.' Then, she had opened her eyes and made her announcement. "I am Sel," she had declared and her Naming Ceremony ended after that.
It was her kitten's turn now. The Catamura couldn't come because of the wards so she would do the blessing instead. She chanted the ancient words and anointed her kitten with the Water of Life that every Named cat carried. After she had finished, she stepped back and she and Sansa formed a circle around the candidate. They waited in silence for what felt like an hour but was probably only a few minutes until he had gasped and opened his eyes. "I am Harry," he announced. "What was all that?"
"All what, Harrius?" Sansa asked.
"Harry," he corrected, trying to sound annoyed but failing.
"I prefer Harrius," Sansa retorted. "Also, would you actually answer my question?"
"Would I?" Harry asked, his lips twitching slightly.
Sel sighed. "Just answer her question, Harry."
"When I was looking for my connection, I felt some sort of darkness. It tried to consume me but a feeling of love somehow stopped it?" he said but it sounded like a question.
"I don't know." Sel frowned slightly. "Perhaps it was a leftover from the attack on you and your parents," she suggested. "I've never heard of anything like this before."
Harry just shrugged. It was as good a guess as any.
