Sansa
Four years after Sel had gone into the house to find Dark-Male-Human and Red-Female-Human dead, Sel caught a snake as she was hunting for food and went inside so she and her kitten could eat it together. However, the snake was not yet dead, so when Sel reached her kitten, it was hissing and squirming, trying to escape. To Sel's astonishment, her kitten hissed back. Was he trying to imitate the snake? Surely not.
Sel's confusion abated slightly when he spoke to her. "The snake told me that her name is Sansa and that she doesn't want to be eaten. I don't want to eat her either. It would be weird eating someone I've heard speak and that I've spoken to and I would probably have nightmares about it for weeks."
"You can speak to snakes?" Sel asked in amazement.
Her kitten nodded. "Sansa says that some magical humans are able to do it and that they're called Parselmouths. The ability is called Parseltongue. Apparently there is also a branch of magic that uses it called Parselmagic."
"Interesting," was all Sel could think of to say.
"Can Sansa stay with us?" he asked pleadingly.
"Of course," Sel replied. "Is it possible for me to learn Parseltongue?"
He turned to Sansa and hissed something. Sansa hissed back. Her kitten turned back to her and nodded. She could learn it.
It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
