Sel's Promise
Sel went inside the house and was met with the strong scent of death magic. Her tail flew up. Cautiously, she walked in the direction the scent was coming from. Sel stopped. Dark-Male-Human was lying on the floor. She moved closer. Dark-Male-Human wasn't breathing. He was dead.
Sel sprang up the stairs to the room of Dark-Male-Human and Red-Female-Human's offspring, where she could sense more death magic and went in. Red-Female-Human was lying on the floor and parts of the roof had collapsed around her. Red-Female-Human was dead too. Was the human kitten dead too? Sel desperately hoped not. Sel didn't think she could handle it if all three of them were gone.
The human kitten was alive.
Sel promised herself that she would keep Dark-Male-Human and Red-Female-Human's kitten alive for them. She would raise him as if her were her own kitten. It was the least she could do.
