Capture the Flag
The screen opens to show Cassiopeia standing across from an Apollo kid with a sword in her hand. “You know the rules, No trying to kill your opponent. No Face hits, and first to lose their weapon loses.” Clarisse told the two. The two campers nodded to show they understood the rules. “On the count of three.” “One” Cassiopeia tightens her grip on her sword. “Two” Cassiopeia is seen looking at her opponent up and down.
“Miss Black, Why are you guys holding swords?” Asked McGonagall. “Because we are sparring, professor McGonagall.” Cassiopeia responded. “And why are you Sparring?” asked Sirius Black worried about his sister. Instead of Cassiopeia responding, Clarisse responded for her. “For practice, we need to know how to swing a sword or shoot a bow and arrow if we want to survive in our world, and it is fun.”
The wizarding world nods at this. “Why are you looking him up and down Cas number 1?” Asked Caspian. Cassiopeia turned to look at her friend and smiled. “To get a better look on how to defeat him.” Caspian and the others nodded at this.
“Three” And with those words, the Apollo kid lunged at Cassiopeia, who dodged the attack. “Nice try, but very predictable.” Cassiopeia told the kid, as she hit him in the back of his legs. Cassiopeia could easily win this fight, but decided to let it draw out. After a bit of fighting the Apollo kid began getting more angry (Some of it being the cause of Cassiopeia influencing the anger), his fighting skills getting sloppy.
Cassiopeia was loving this, she wasn’t even using her full strength to fight, and she was still winning. In the middle of the fight she looked over to see Percy Jackson walking over to the woods for foot racing. She made a decision to end this fight, so she could watch. She turned just in time to catch the Apollo campers sword and turned it into a stick and threw it onto the floor winning.
“Miss Black, was that underage magic?” asked one of the ministry workers. Cassiopeia looked towards the minister. “No it was not sure, I only used my demigod powers.” Before someone could ask about demigod powers an angry Walburga spoke up. “A young lady like you is not supposed to be acting like that!” Cassiopeia froze and slowly turned to her mother. “I-I- am s-s-sorry mother.” “No, obviously you haven’t learned your lesson, when we get home you are going to get a stern talking.” Cassiopeia looked down, “Yes mother.”
Regulus Black hurried and stood up staring at his mother. “Mother please, we do not know how that world works. Maybe she needs it to survive.” Walburga looked angry at this. “You dare speak back to me?” “No mother, I am just trying to explain my Etoiles side. Please mother, don't hurt her.” Before anyone could say anything else, Orion Black spoke up “Enough, we will discuss this at home. Regulus never speak to your mother that way again, and Cassiopeia I understand you might need the skill to survive, but please refrain from using it if you can.” This caused the Black family to slowly sit down. Sirius was sitting at the Gryffindor table, he kept on thinking about Regulus’s words. Does mother hit her? Did I just leave her and Reggie in that environment? “Hey mate, what was your family saying?” asked Peter Pettigrew who shortly after got smacked in the head by Remus. “It is nothing.” Sirius replied.
Cassiopeia soon left the ring with Alexander and Lacedaemon. They walked towards the woods to watch the new kid. Cassiopeia was glad they did this, she couldn’t believe he was slower than the wood nymphs. The days went on like this with Cassiopeia and some of her siblings watching the new kid trying out new activities. They watched him hit Chiron in the tail with an arrow. Their favorite was watching Clarisse pulverize him in wrestling. The only thing they saw that he was good at was canoe racing. They decided to skip his sword fighting lesson, mostly because Luke would have scolded her for laughing at him.
It was now Friday, and it was time for capture the flag. After the Athena cabin ran in it was her turn. Clarisse ran in first with Eurytion, Alexander, and Lacedaemon following. The Ares cabin made an alliance with the Hephaestus cabin, The Aphrodite Cabin, The Demeter Cabin, and the Dionysus cabin. The Athena cabin allied themselves with the Apollo cabin and Hermes cabin. Cassiopeia and her siblings soon walked down to the creek where the rest of the campers were standing.
They heard a hoof being hammered down on the marble floor. They all turned to look towards Chiron. “Heroes!” he announced. “You know the rules. The creek is the boundary line. The entire forest is fair game. All magic items are allowed. The banner must be prominently displayed, and have no more than two guards. Prisoners may be disarmed, but may not be bound or gagged. No killing or maiming is allowed. I will serve as referee and battlefield medic. Arm yourselves!” As soon as he spread his hands the tables were covered with equipment: Helmets, bronze swords, spears, and oxhide shields coated in metal.
“Woah, awesome.” Said the marauders and a few others. “What type of game is this? Why are there rules stating no bounding people and gagging them? And what caused the rule for no maiming and killing?” Andromeda Tonks asked. Annabeth turned towards her and responded “You will see the game in a few. Those rules came into effect because of certain campers at the camp.” Annabeth looked at the Ares campers. Alexander spoke up “We are only responsible for two of those rules.” This caused the wizarding world to look baffled. “And what rules are those?” Asked Dorcas Meadows. “I am going to guess it was the gagging and bounding people.” Replied Lily Evans. The Ares children quietly snickered. “No those came into effect because of Castor and Pollux, the Ares campers over there caused the no maiming and killing rule.” Grover told the wizarding world. They all just sat there blank faced asking themselves what type of camp this was. Percy thought to himself how he wanted to see what the Ares campers did to cause the rule to be made.
Cassiopeia could hear Percy Jackson asking if they were supposed to really be using these. She just rolled her eyes and walked towards her siblings. All of the Ares campers and their teammates had red horsehair on the top of their helmets, while Athena’s side had blue horsehair. She could hear Annabeth yelling for blue to move out. That was their cue to leave.
They made their way up the creek and put their flag on the highest point of the mountain. Clarisse called her over. “Here is the plan, Castor and Pollux are going to guard the flag. If you want to gag and bound the prisoners, be my guest. Aphrodite cabin you guys are in charge of guarding the borders, and for those who have charm speak use it. Demeter cabin you are going to sneak around in the woods, use your way with nature to hide and attack if you need to and get the flag. Hephaestus cabin You guys are going to keep an eye on the Hermes campers and use your gadgets to slow down the Hermes campers if you need to. For the Ares cabin you guys are going to follow me, we are going to find the flag and the new kid. Also Do not be afraid to fight.” “Yes Captain” They all replied.
“That is actually a good plan, using their gifts to outsmart everyone.” Lily Evans replied. Eurytion just shot her a simple head nod. Clarisse just looked at Annabeth smugly. “Wait I thought they said no gagging or bounding people?” asked a curious Hufflepuff. “At that time we didn’t care about the rules.” Clarisse responded.
Cassiopeia and her siblings all got onto a boat and started rowing. It was quiet for a couple minutes, when she heard Clarisse say something about surprise attacking the new kid. She was more focused on the trees making sure no Apollo camper shoots them from above. She was going to argue with her sister that it wouldn’t be a good idea but stopped, when she realized she could see a good fight.
They soon reached the new kid when Clarisse screamed “Cream the punk!” All of her siblings charged across the stream to Percy with Cassiopeia following not joining the fight. In her mind the new kid was holding up pretty well until Clarisse hit his shield with her spear causing electricity to go into it. Hector slammed his sword into Percy’s chest causing him to fall on the ground. Cassiopeia let out a small chuckle at this. “Give him a haircut!” Clarisse commanded, “Grab his hair.”
She was about to step in and join in, when she saw the new kid stand up. He raised his sword, only for it to be swept aside by Clarisse. “Oh wow,” Clarisse said. “I’m scared of this guy. Really scared.” “He thinks he can actually win against you sister.” Cassiopeia replied with a chuckle. “The flag is that way.” Cassiopeia laughed. “Yeah, we know.” Cassiopeia told him. “But see we don’t care about the flag. We care about a guy making our cabin look stupid.” Lacedaemon replied.
“Why do you guys care so much about your cabin's reputation?” Remus Lupin asked. “Because disrespect to our cabin is disrespect to our father.” Clarisse told him. “Just like how it is in the wizarding world. "Evan Rosier quietly whispered to Regulus who nodded. Sirius was wondering why his sister didn’t stop the bullying.
They both backed him into the creek. He tried to raise his shield, but Clarisse was too fast. Her Spear struck him in the side on his chest plate. He looked dizzy. “Guys I think-” But Cassiopeia was cut off by Percy, who only made it worse. “No maiming.” “Oops,” Lacedaemon said. “Guess I lost my dessert privileges.” What happened next came as a blur to Cassiopeia one second they were all fighting the new kid. And the next she saw Clarisse’s spear broken. “Ah!!” Clarisse screamed, holding a part of her spear in her hand. “You Idiot! You corpse-breath worm!” She was about to scream even more when Percy hit her in between her eyes with the butt of his sword.
Soon they heard shouting, and saw Luke running with A couple of Apollo campers and Hermes Campers and running after them were Hephaestus campers. “A trick!” Clarisse shouted. “It was a trick!” Clarisse and her brothers all stumbled after Luke, but Cassiopeia stayed back to pick up The rest of Clarisse's spear. She saw Annabeth appear out of nowhere, she could sense Percy’s anger and would have loved to watch the argument. But she was too busy staring at Clarisse's spear with sadness, she wouldn’t know how she would feel if her sword broke.
“Hey, Cassiopeia, what's wrong? You would have loved this argument.” Annabeth asked. “That stupid idiot over there broke my sisters spear.” She responded as she glared at Percy. “What is the matter anyway, she could just get a new one?” Asked Percy. “No, She can’t it was a gift from our father.” She responded. Percy tried talking to her again but was ignored as she went back to staring at the broken pieces of the spear wishing she could fix it.
When all of a sudden she heard growling she hurried and stood up to see a hellhound standing in front of them growling. She hurried and grabbed her necklace transforming it into a sword. The hellhound was running towards Percy. Cassiopeia tried to place herself in front of Percy and Annabeth but was too late. The Hellhound had already scratched Percy before getting shot by Chiron and the Apollo campers. Cassiopeia stood there feeling disappointed she couldn’t kill the Hellhound. When Chiron trotted up next to us, a bow in his hand, his face grim. “Di immortales!” Annabeth said. “That’s a hellhound from the Fields of Punishment. They don’t…they’re not supposed to…” “Someone summoned it,” Chiron said. “Someone inside the camp.”
“Why would someone summon that into the camp?” asked Acacia. “You will see later on.” Percy said in an irritated voice remembering him. Regulus was worried about his little sister. Did she get attacked like this, if so How bad? “Cas number 1, are you Ok? Is this normal?” Asked Caspian. Cassiopeia turned towards Caspian. “I am ok Cas number 2, and it has been happening a lot but should be slowing down.” Orion stiffened, all he wants is for his little princess to be ok.
Clarisse yelled, “It’s all Percy’s fault! Percy summoned it!” No matter how much Cassiopeia loves her sister, sometimes she says things without thinking. “Be quiet, child,” Chiron told her. We watched the body of the hellhound melt into shadow, soaking into the ground until it disappeared. “You’re wounded,” Annabeth told Percy. “Quick, Percy, get in the water.” Cassiopeia looked at Annabeth with a raised eyebrow. “And what is that going to do to help him?” “ Just watch.” Annabeth replied.
“I’m okay.” Percy responded to Annabeth. “No, you’re not,” she said. “Chiron, watch this.” Percy walked into the creek, and his cuts were starting to heal. Cassiopeia looked surprised. Over Percy Jackson's head was a trident spinning over his head. “Your father,” Annabeth murmured. “This is really not good.” Cassiopeia just looked at Percy with pity, and anger.
“It is determined,” Chiron announced. All around, campers started kneeling, even Cassiopeia and her siblings, even though they didn’t look happy about it. “My father?” he asked, completely bewildered. “Poseidon,” said Chiron. “Earthshaker, Stormbringer, Father of Horses. Hail, Perseus Jackson, Son of the Sea God.”
“Wait! Your father is Poseidon? That is so cool!” a Gryffindor exclaimed. Thunder shook outside Hogwarts causing the Demigods to flinch. “Please don’t say the Gods names. They don’t like it.” Grover said. “And it is not cool, it came with too much baggage.” Percy replied. Regulus wondered what he meant by baggage.
