When Sirius was growing up in number 12 Grimmauld Place, his best friend aside from his little brother, was his older cousin, Belatrix. They loved to cause mischief during fancy dinners with their parents and aunts and uncles. Above all, though, they loved to do their hair. Sirius was unfortunately the only child of Walburga and Orion with an untamable mess of curly hair. Belatrix had a similar situation, but, being a girl, she had been taught how to maintain it. Sirius loved nothing more than to sit and watch in the mirror as Bella expertly and carefully combed and braided his hair. Eventually she taught Sirius how to take care of his own hair and he took great pride in making sure it was carefully styled each day. After Sirius learned of Belatrix becoming a Death Eater, Sirius fell into a huge depression. During this time he refused to touch his hair as the memories that came with it were far too painful. Who else would notice his friend’s plight and take action, but Remus Lupin. Every other day Remus would carefully wash his boyfriend’s hair and braid it carefully. Sirius eventually recovered from his depression, but would never let a souls other than Remus touch his hair.
