==PRELUDE ==
On the 15th of August 1977, a shockwave rippled through the world - volcanoes erupted, earthquakes shook the earth and buildings collapsed. On this day 5 women gave birth. This was unusual only in the fact that none of these women were pregnant when the day had begun. Sir William Hargreaves , a reclusive wizard who had renounced his magic decades ago, collected one of these babies. Over the next two and a half years, 15 more of these shocks occurred : along with 85 women who had unnaturally short pregnancies. Sir William Hargraves got 10 of them. Unfortunately , Sir William Hargreaves was not exactly what one would call the fatherly type. Instead he trained his children in a multitude of languages , a dozen different fighting styles , and made them some of the most powerful and dangerous children in the world. For these children were not ordinary- abnormal, in fact, in every sense of the word. On the 15th of August 1977, Sir William Hargreaves founded the Umbrella Academy.
The Umbrella Academy rocketed to fame in 1987 when Sir Hargreaves announced to the world, after the UA managed to stop a bank robbery that the police couldn't even get near to, the existence of these extra ordinary children . One had extraordinary strength and even at a young age was capable of feats that would ordinarily take 12 men to even attempt (although he seemed to make up for that by lacking in intelligence), Two could harness electricity and shoot it out of her hands at an incredible range (which some said made her violent and angry). Numbers Three and Four despite being the only set of identical twins in the academy had vastly different powers : Three being able to transform himself to anyone and anything in the world , contrasting Four who can both manipulate the trajectory of any moving object, and see within his minds eye anyone at any distance ( though they both seemed extremely traumatized by being the only identical twins- therapy anyone? This is probably what lead to their disturbed mindsets). Five , being one of the most popular students in the academy , had the well-known "rumour" ability, that allowed whatever she started with ,"I heard a rumour …", to become truth - which if you ask me she abused and was what lead to her to an entitled and controlling mindset. Six had the creepy ability to commune with the dead and allow them to posses him for short amount of time- giving him the skill set of whoever possesses him - he is clearly more comfortable with the dead than the living. Poor number Seven, disappeared in 1993 , never to be seen again could (in a similar way to how us wizards apparate), jump anywhere with little difficulty, but what truly differentiates him is his ability to jump through not just space but time. Truly , he was lucky to escape the dysfunctional and abusive mess of his family. Eight could manipulate Gravity (and if rumours are to be believed she was far more skilled in managing her men) and Nine could copy the abilities of any of his siblings (over-powered maniac anyone??) Ten however, in debatably the most disturbing power of the academy, could allow huge tentacles in the form of a monster to come out of his chest, and destroy his enemies. Why he was even allowed in public was a mystery to me ; while he seemed polite, how do we know the monster wasn't a reflection of what he's really like? I shudder even to think of him - and to expose young children to him?
However, no one has seen the Umbrella Academy for a year now, and they are slowly fading out of the limelight. But with rumours of Sir William Hargreaves declining health, and whispers of a secret child (since ten children is clearly not enough for Sir Hargreaves), will any of the Umbrella Academy come back in to the limelight?
