Fleamont had bought the five of them, because Lily was one of them now much to James’ delight, tickets to the first two days of the Quidditch World Cup, as a graduation gift. This meant not only would they get to see the hotly contested England v Germany match, but the opening ceremony too. He’d also fixed up the old Potter family tent to fit five of them comfortably, four sizeable compartments and a living space that Remus swore was bigger than his living room at home.
It had been two weeks since they’d graduated. He’d been to see James and Sirius, but Pete and Lily hadn’t been there, and when he went to visit Lily, it was just the two of them.
Remus dropped his backpack into his sleeping space, navy blue with gold stars embroidered on the tent fabric, Fleamont had outdone himself.
Sirius poked his head in, “Oh, yours matches mine, but my stars are silver.” Remus looked up at him and smiled. “You feeling alright?”
“Just tired.” He said quietly, the full moon had been two days ago, and the first one without his friends roaming around the forbidden forest with him. He’d been locked in his parents' cellar, and the wolf had been distressed, to say the least. “Don’t tell James, he’ll only fuss.”
“Someone should fuss.” Sirius said snippily, “You don’t have to stay there and agree to the cellar just because—”
“Pads, don’t.” Remus had applied for over fifty jobs and thanks to new laws requiring him to disclose his lycanthropy, he had been rejected from all of them. “I don’t have a choice.”
“Yes, you do.” Sirius sat down on his bed as Remus shook his head, “You know you do.”

The opening ceremony was magical, literally. By the time they staggered back to the tent, covered in glitter, it was almost 3 am. James and Lily went straight to bed, and Pete wasn’t far behind them.
Sirius ducked into his compartment and pulled out a bottle of firewhisky. “Nightcap?” Remus nodded, “Your place or mine?”
Remus snorted, “Mine.” Sirius followed him to his compartment and did the zip up behind them as Remus lit the candles on the dresser. The space was big enough to fit a decent-sized bed and a dresser, but not much else. Sirius propped himself against the headboard and watched, stunned, as Remus removed his jeans and stepped into a pair of plaid pyjama bottoms. He pulled his shirt over his head, and Sirius’ breath hitched.
“You could stop staring, you know.” Remus said quietly, rummaging in his bag to find the Queen T-shirt (that used to be Sirius’) that he liked to sleep in.
“Oh no. Absolutely not.” When Remus looked over at him, Sirius had a soft smile on his face. “You’re so… sparkly.”
The moment was over and Remus laughed, pulling the t-shirt over his head, “I think we’ll all be sparkly for months.” He slid onto the bed next to Sirius who opened the bottle and passed it to Remus first. “Thanks.” He took a few mouthfuls and grimaced before handing it back.
“Yeah, it’s—” Sirius took a few gulps of his own, “It’s still not great. What happened to being adults and acquired tastes and all that bullshit?”
“Maybe it’s too gross even for that, or maybe we’ve only been out of school for two weeks and it’ll happen at some point.” Remus shrugged as Sirius passed the bottle back. “Do you miss school as much as I do?
“I don’t miss the classes.” He considered, “I miss seeing you every day.”
“And Pete?” Remus asked cautiously.
“Oh. Well yeah, of course, Pete too.” Sirius’ cheeks flushed slightly, “But mostly you.”
“Oh.” Remus drank some more, “I miss seeing you every day.”
“Yeah?” Sirius whispered, “And Pete?”
“Not like I miss you,” Remus admitted.
Sirius took the bottle from him and took a swig before setting it on the floor next to the bed. “I bought a house.” Remus started to say something, but Sirius rested a finger against his lips, “Just listen. I bought a house, with Alphard’s inheritance. It needs some work done to it, but it has a huge piece of woodland as part of the grounds. Come and live with me, Moons. It’ll be ready before the next moon, and it’s way too big for just one person.”
Remus wrapped his hand around Sirius’ and moved the finger from his mouth, “Are you—”
“Always,” Sirius said with a smirk as Remus rolled his eyes. “It doesn’t have to mean anything if you don’t want it to. I just want you to be safe and happy, and I know you’re not.”
“What do you want it to mean, Pads?” Remus smiled as he watched Sirius’ eyes flick down to his mouth. He moved forward slowly, moving his hand so their fingers were intertwined, and their lips met. Sirius felt like he was melting into Remus as their lips moved slowly, and pulled him even closer.
“I want it to mean that.” Sirius said, against Remus’ mouth after a while. “I want to be able to do this every day of our lives.” Remus nodded before closing the small distance once more, and this time Sirius could feel him smiling into the kiss.
When Lily poked her head into Remus’ compartment the following morning to tell him breakfast was ready, she found them fast asleep, Sirius’ head on Remus’ chest and their legs tangled together.
She silently re-did the zipper and turned to James, “I don’t think they’ll want breakfast for a while.”
“They?” James yelped with a grin. Lily nodded, “Well, it’s about damn time.”
