Wicked Game

'' Why won't you just tell her? '' Remus had spent ages having this conversation with Mary.
'' WHAT DO YOU MEAN? SHE HAS A GIRLFRIEND, I CAN'T JUST TELL HER HOW I FEEL. '', Mary cried out, burring her face in her hands.'' I want her to be happy, Moony. And if Dorcas is making that happen, then I - I'm okay with that. ''
'' You're lying. You're just trying to prove to yourself that you have somehow got over her. ''
'' What would you do, eh? '', Mary hissed angrily.'' Because I- it's...It's too late. She doesn't want me anymore and I have to accept that and move on with my life and find someone else. ''
Remus sighed.
'' You're right. And as much as it hurts me to say that, Marl's in love. I don't want to lie to you. I'm sure you'll find someone right for you too, any time soon.''
'' Yeah... '', Mary let out a breath and looked at the woman she loved from her shoulder.
Marlene had rested her legs on Dorcas' lap when she tugged some hairs behind her ear.
'' It's just not... meant to be. And that's - that's okay. '', Remus heard the lies leaving his friend's mouth, but decided that it was better just to nod.
'' Oh, I invited the Ravenclaws and the Hufflepuffs for the party after the game. It'll be very interesting... '', Mary smirked, finally, and let Remus see the spark in her again.

The game was between Gryffindor and Slytherin and Remus was pissed most of the time they were there.
Remus had never seen Lily swearing that much - and they knew each other since they were eleven-, and he'd found Peter in the same place, too.
Regulus had been such a dick during the whole game and Remus had hoped Sirius wouldn't be so affected by that.
Apparently, he wasn't. He and James played like gods, Marlene following their lead, too.
Remus and Lily were so proud of them and kept screaming their names to cheer them up and give them a boost of confidence for the rest of the game.
Remus turned to his left to look at Mary, who was, surprisingly, staring at another girl three rows in front of them.
Her hair was a light brunette and her eyes brown, wide enough to be the first noticeable feature in her face, other than her lips that had a nice shape and a good shade of the color red.
She was beautiful and very attractive and her skin was as white as a paper, almost pale.
The girl turned to look at Mary, as she probably felt a pair of eyes - two actually, but never noticed Remus'-, on her face.
She checked Mary's body a couple of times with fierce, steady eyes and then locked them on her face, focusing on her lips.
The girl's mouth opened slightly and Mary gave her a small, confident smile. She returned the gesture with a smirk and looked away, as she tried to focus on the game.
'' Good job, dude. '', Remus laughed and high - fived Mary right away.
'' She's a ten, isn't she? '', Mary began giggling, still eyeing the girl.
'' Oh, Merlin, yes. '', Remus, also, staring at her.
'' Hey, that's my wife you're looking at. Why don't you give some attention to your man, eh? '', Mary elbowed him and Remus started laughing- proud that she finally had given her focus on another human being.
Mary's standards weren't either high or wild. That girl's colors were extremely ordinary, but there was something about her beauty, her eyes, that made her outstanding. Besides, she was the exact opposite of Marlene and perhaps, that was what satisfied Mary so much.
Remus returned to the game and realized that their house was way ahead from Slytherin's and just about to win, since there was only a minute left.
After a moment, everybody got up and started cheering, congratulating their house. Sirius and James and Marlene gave each other a hug and turned to look at their friends, looking happier than ever.
Remus caught Sirius' eyes and grinned from ear to ear when he saw him mouthing I love you, to him.
Moony screamed the words back and everybody laughed.
The two boys and girls headed to their house common room to go to the after party.
It was one of the greatest games of the year, with so many plot twists and everybody was celebrating the win in very different ways.
When they got to the room, the four of them started pouring drinks into their glasses and dancing in the rhythm of the music.
An ABBA song was up - Mary's favorite and her eyes lighted up immediately.
Remus danced with her and Lily, as Peter had disappeared into the crowd.
They were happy and careless and living their lives to the fullest because they were seventeen and in their last year at Howgarts and wanted to make life matter for once. These were their moments together- without having to worry about classes or N.E.W.T or anything - , dancing under their house's roof and getting drunk after a nice quidditch game.
Remus felt his chest heavy with all kinds of emotions.
He was healthy and well. He was in love and had a boyfriend. His friends were amazing and, basically, were like family to him. The one he never had.
He, finally, shoved the thoughts away and put each one of his arms on Mary's and Lily's shoulders, the thee of them creating a dance of their own with their legs.
Tears blurred their visions, as they were laughing so hard at their movements.
He, then, managed to notice that girl they'd seen on the game and elbowed Mary and nodded to her direction.
'' OH, THAT'S MY CHANGE. THANK MERLIN. BYE GUYS. '', she basically run to her and left Remus and Lily chuckling behind her.
'' Well, I guess we're left alone. Two best friends without their boyfriends. Care to give me this dance, Remus Moony Lupin? '', Lily asked and took a step back to gave her hand to Remus to take.
He laughed and took it and placed it on his shoulder.
'' All the young dudes '' started playing by Mott the Hoople - a band Remus recognized thanks to Sirius' records - , a song so perfect and fitted for the occasion and for the way they were dancing and feeling at the moment.
Both of them screamed the lyrics, as they were moving so clumsily, making fun of themselves, seizing the night.
