Chapter 1

Narrator

There was once a King that ruled a part of Gotham’s Land. He was a pale man, with green hair and a conniving red grin as he looked down at the lower class citizens of his terrain.

As I was escorted into the castle, to the changing room, where I donned my given black and red harlequin form whilst painting my face a bleach white, just like his, putting on an exaggerated outlook for his majesty and a stage name.

I walked into the throne room, kneeling before him, my heart beating almost painfully. I wasn't fit to be a circus clown, let alone be in the presence of such a cunning man.

His gaze loomed down before me, a chill went down my spine, though I was unsure if it was the good or bad kind.

He snapped his fingers, before speaking. “Let me see what you have little clown.”

I gulped.

I was eventually found by a spear point, again, why would I decide to do this when I specialize in a psychology circle.

He tsked in disappointment, shaking his head and looking down at me in disgust. “That was worse than the last one.”

He stooped down on his throne to my level, narrowing his eyes at me. “But killing you would be a waste of resources now would it.”

His hand gripped my cheek, firmly almost painfully when I tried to hide my gaze away from his.

“I think I have just the thing.”

“Well fuck me.” I sighed as I was pushed off the carrier to the entrance of what many describe to be a death sentence.

I looked into the entrance of the menacing forest as the knight behind me spoke with an authoritative, stern voice “Get in and come out with valued materials, if you don't, then we’ll know why.”

I looked into the shadows of the helmet’s eye. With a mix of fear, uncertainty and a tinge of hope in my voice. “Will this get me into his good graces?”

The said man clasped in metal only regarded me with a menacing aura. “Perhaps, if you're even alive by then, clown.”

And he left, leaving me alone and a fate most said was worse than death.

I swallowed, getting up on my wobbly legs, taking a deep breath before walking into the treaches woods.

While I walked through the dark woods, all I could think was how pathetic I was. Here I was, clasped in bright colors, in heavy drag makeup that made me feel how I looked.

“I'm such an idiot.” I murmured almost angrily to myself, hitting my palm into my forehead as I walked deeper into the botanical woods before I noticed something was wrong.

The floral around me shifted from a more natural, green one to an almost weird blu-ish one, the colours ranged from greens to blues to even pinks. It looked almost exotic, beautiful even as much as it looked wrong.

I gaped around, with a furrow brow and confusion before I crunched atop of something.

Suddenly my world was upside down as something thick and thorny wrapped itself around my ankle and tying my wrist behind my back, dangling me upside down.

I yelped as the ground below me grew multiple venus flytraps, but they looked wrong along with the land around me. It looked more mutated, more menacing, with razor sharp teeth and saliva frothing from its mouth as if it was made to eat humans.

I looked down at the vines that slowly lowered down to my fate, my eyes widened in panic as my breath became shallow, squirming in its hold for mercy before a dominant voice echoed.

“Stop.”

My head snapped towards the dark corner where I heard the said deep voice rasped, luminous green eyes made itself known in the dark. I noted the vague silhouette of a seated woman with long red hair.

The vines stopped its advances, halting in place before turning to face the conceived body and luminescent green eyes.

“Who are you..?” I stared in fear and uncertainty at the unknown woman shrouded in darkness who did nothing more but to observe me closely.

Minutes stretched into what felt like hours before the said mysterious woman stood up, walking into the light where I could see her better.

She had an unreadable expression before it morphed when her lips curled up into a smirk as she looked down at me with regardance, locking our gaze.

"What do we have here?”
