1980: The Betrayal of Peter Pettigrew

The Great Hall fell into silence as everyone's gaze turned to the chubby blonde boy who let out a squeak of shock himself. “I’d never betray anyone… I’m a Gryffindor!” He protested weakly, as he watched the screen starting to change.

Peter was inside a large spacious room, his arm outstretched and held in a vice like grip by a very pale hand with long fingernails.

“So, Wormtail. What makes you think you would be any good to join my ranks?”

The screen moved out, showing Voldemort sat on a throne like chair, eyes staring into Pettigrew’s soul.

“I’m in with the light. I can tell you their next moves.”

“Ah, but wormtail, what use is a spy to me, what about when you are ultimately caught?”

Wormtail suddenly shifted into his animagus form, a rat, before turning back again.

“That’s more like it. Now, hold still. This is going to hurt.”

Voldemort held his wand to Pettigrew’s arm incanting a spell that transferred the dark mark on his forearm.

“I expect information weekly, Wormtail. You did well telling me about the secret organisation.”

James, Remus and Sirius stood as one and moved away from Peter, sitting at the other end of the table with the girls, the three friends had lost all the colour from their faces.

“How could he…” James muttered silently.

“That traitorous little…” Sirius was seething. That rat, willingly joined Voldemort's ranks?!

1980: Albus Dumbledore & Sybill Trelawney, The Hogs Head.

Everyone seemed to focus back at the screen, their harsh stares no longer fixed upon Pettigrew, who was whimpering at the end of the table, where everyone near him had moved away. It was a harsh lesson, but Peter was adamant that in this life, he wouldn’t turn to the dark lord.

“This can’t be good..” Albus murmured softly as the screen moved again, showing an older version of himself sat in his brother's pub.

Albus Dumbledore was seated across from a young woman with messy hair, her big eyes were held wide as she grasped the headmaster's arm, a fog-like confusion taking over her as her mouth began moving.

“The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches, born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies, and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives. The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies…”

As the woman came back into herself, she loosened her grip on the headmasters arm, and picked her drink up. “My, I don’t know what came over me Albus…”

“Sybill my dear, I’m giving the post of divination teacher to you.” Albus hummed, his mind working at a rate of knots trying to think of anyone who might be welcoming life into the world soon.

“That’s ridiculous… surely the Potters’ wouldn’t have been declared his targets just for when their son was born? What if there were more than one who fitted the prophecy?!” An outcry from Pandora Rosier as she sat trying to peace everything together in her mind.

“Then Voldemort would have to choose which to make his equal…” Evan whispered, his mind drifting back to the small bundle of black hair they’d watch Hagrid carrying, he was so small… so sweet and innocent, yet subjected to such violence one so young shouldn’t ever have to worry of.

30th July 1980 -  Alice & Frank Longbottom, St Mungo’s

Frank looked up slightly alarmed seeing his name on the screen. He glanced to the side seeing Alice seated next to him, he reached forward and grasped her hand, they two were in their final year at Hogwarts and had begun to venture out on Hogsmeade weekends together to have afternoon tea. They didn’t even try to hide their feelings for one another, they wanted the whole of the school to know how happy the other made them, and were looking forward to the future they’d dreamt of that lay ahead for them.

A baby’s cry sounded around the pristine white room, Alice was lay in a hospital bed, her forehead gleaming with sweat, tears still running down her face, Frank was standing beside her, she had his hand in a vice like grip, as he grimaced at the pain he was feeling, but he knew better than to say anything, knowing his discomfort was nothing in comparison to what his wife had gone through.

A small baby wrapped in a white blanket with the initials N.F.L embroidered neatly in the corner, was placed into Alice’s waiting arms, she gasped as she gazed down at the small bundle, tears welling up in her eyes.

“Look, Frank. Isn’t he beautiful!” She gushed quietly.

“He’s certainly that, my love. Are you still agreeable with his name?”

Alice nodded as Frank held his wand to his new-born sons forehead. “I, Francis Algie Longbottom, do name you Neville Francis Longbottom.”

“Neville Francis…” Alice mused quietly glancing to Frank, a smile tugging at her lips.

“Wait… the prophecy could have been about our son as well…” Frank realised, horror covering his face.

“No Regulus, I will not stop squealing whenever I see a baby! They are so cute!!!!” Barty whined making grabby hands towards the screen.

31st July 1980, The Potter’s, St Mungo’s

A collective gasp was heard around the Great Hall as the students muttered quietly. “They were born a day apart, both at the end of July… so the Dark Lord has to… pick” Severus murmured to himself, it didn’t seem right, chasing after an infant just incase he was more powerful than himself.

“Frank and Alice had their little boy yesterday.” Lily murmured as she glanced at the bundle that lay sleeping in her arms quite content. She glanced around the hospital room, her eyes taking in the scene. James was on his knees weeping, beside him Sirius Black was hugging him tightly tears running down his face, as Remus Lupin stood beside Lily, gazing down at the new born baby.

“You always were the more sensible one Lupin.” Lily laughed quietly. A soft smile tugging at Remus’ features, he hadn’t even met the child yet but he knew he would do anything in his power to protect this boy.

“I’m a father… PADFOOT, MOONY! I’M A FATHER!” James cheered jumping around pulling Sirius up with him.

“So does that make me…”

“I swear if you turn the role you have in my sons life into a joke Padfoot, I’ll revoke any responsibility you get.” Lily  grumbled rocking the boy in her arms who had began to fidget slightly.

“I mean, she can’t revoke my rights, so yes, Sirius. You my deer, deer brother, are a dogfather.” Sirius broke out in a cheeky grin as Remus fought to keep a smile off his face, leading to Lily throwing his head back and groaning.

“Prongsie, can you name him already, I can’t keep referring to my nephew as cub now can I?” Remus whined from where he stood gazing at the tiny bundle, amber specks in his eyes.

“Moons has accepted him as part of the pack already!” James cried happily as he literally skipped over and carefully placed his wand on the child's forehead.

“I, James Fleamont Potter, do name you, Harry James Potter.”

“Oh wait! Prongslet! Since you are Prongs!!” James’ face erupted into a huge grin as Lily once again groaned.

“I swear I married only one man, but no, I got three for the price of one.” She murmured before bending her head and planting a small kiss to Harry’s forehead.

“Congratulations Prongsie, little Prongslet is already so loved.” Sirius whispered quietly, still coming to terms with the fact his best friend, loved him and trusted him enough to name him the child's godfather.

“God Lils, I feel sorry for you! Having to put up with all bloody three of the buggers!” Marlene laughed from beside Lily who just smiled and shook her head.

“Dogfather? Sirius are you an animagus?” Mary asked looking at him inquisitively, as Sirius suddenly paled and quickly shook his head.

“No. How could I be? I’m not of age yet, duh.” He laughed turning back to face his friends, but not before noticing his little brother giving him a look so severe that he knew that Regulus knew he was in fact, a dog.
