"I was just trying to help!" Misty protested as Coach Ben took her off the field, there had been a fight and in a hurried attempt to stop it, Misty had gotten in the middle, and with all the pushing Natalie had slipped and fallen, yelling "What the fuck misty!" as she landed hard on the grass and grabbed her leg in pain. “I know Misty-“ Coach Ben said gently as he took her off the field, the squabbling forgotten as the varsity girls rushed toward Natalie. “But maybe stay out of it next time, okay?” Misty nodded, looking back at the commotion, she watched guiltily as Lottie rushed to help her girlfriend, kneeling next to her and attempting to help her up, letting nat lean on her shoulder so they could walk. About 20 minutes later, Misty walked toward the locker room, opening the door she saw Nat and Lottie together on a bench. Lots was pressing an ice pack on her girlfriend's knee as they sat huddled together. She watched as Lottie kissed Natalie's forehead and whispered “it’s okay sweetie, it looks worse than it is. It’ll heal.” Lots thread her fingers through her girl's hair before looking at Misty and glaring. "I was just trying to help." Misty whispered again, this time it was to herself.
25 years later- “ I was just trying to help!" Misty whispered against Nat's hurriedly freezing body, the syringe still in her hand as she sobbed. Her cries breaking the hearts of the girls around them, "I didn't mean to, I was just trying to help, I swear." Tai rushed forward and pulled Misty off of Natalie. Just in time as a long haired brunette in bright colored satin, sprinted toward Natalie, and landed hard on the grass. "What did you do Misty- what did you!" Lottie started. "I was just trying to help.....I didn't mean to do it- Lottie I'm sorry! Van nodded sympathetically, putting a hand on Lotties shoulder. "Lots, sweetie, hear her out." Lottie shook her head as she held Natalie's lifeless hand. "You took her away from me-" Lottie whispered in between shaky sobs. Misty nodded sympathetically, "I'm so so sorry…" Misty knew that whether or not they would admit it nowadays, Lottie and Nat always had a soft spot for each other. The matching rings on each other's hands, often made the other Yellowjackets wonder, if they had gotten married all those years ago.
