Always with ya sis
Always with you sis.
The words kept replaying in Vi’s head. She was so stupid. She just had to get soft. She just had to try and see Vander one last time. He didn’t even look like Vander, but that was Vander. Then- Fuck. The vision wasn’t blurry at all, seeing her little sister fall to her death. The scream that Vi screamed echoed throughout Piltover. Almost like that was the song that ended the war. To Vi, it was silent, or well, the explosion had her ears ringing, but again, all she did was… cry. It was all she could do.
It felt like hours later… It was hours later. The sun began to set on the battleground. People rushing around to gather the injured, count their dead. A voice called for her. Ekko. Vi wanted to pull herself together, wanted to try and wipe away her tears and clear her throat, but when she tried to speak, all that came out was sobs.
“Vi!” Ekko gasped, rushing over. He was standing right where Jinx was. Looming over her. “You need to get off that platform, cmon! Fuck, your arm- where’s Jinx?” He had so many questions, but Vi needed to get up.
Vi huffed, moving to try and sit up with a groan, the noise escaping through her teeth into a grunt. Ekko knelt down and held a hand out. The redhead crawled over, letting out another breath as the platform shook beneath her. Ekko was beginning to get worried, noticing Vi’s hesitancy to get off a platform that could break at any second, but he was pulled out of his thoughts when Vi jumped up and grabbed his hand. Ekko used his strength to pull her up.
Wow little man, didn’t think you were this strong.
Ekko groaned, but got Vi up, causing him to fall back and her to fall forward onto her knees. The dam broke again, Vi began to sob, her left arm cradling against herself, her right hand keeping her from falling forward.
Ekko just stared at her. This was Vi. Not the tough big sister that protected them. Yes, she was a badass. Yes, she could fight against a dozen enemies. But Vi was also a vulnerable person too. She was a person too.
He moved to crawl over, lifting Vi by her armpits and pulling her into a hug. He was placing the puzzle pieces together. Jinx was gone. “It’s okay.” Ekko whispered, letting his eyes water, but he… no, they held each other.
It was maybe a few more silent beats before Ekko patted Vi’s back, leaning back to face her. “Your girl.” He said, trying to get a clearer sentence out.
“Caitlyn was looking for you, she… I can’t lie to you, she looked bad, but… she was alive enough to be calling for you. I-I think uh… Mel? The girl in all the gold took her somewhere.” Ekko stuttered over his words, wanting to make sure that his words were correct for his friend… his family who is now healing.
“Help me up.” Vi rasped, voice gone from all the screaming-
Ekko nodded, standing up and pulling Vi along with him, wrapping her good arm around his shoulders before they made their way.

Caitlyn laid on her back, unable to open either of her eyes. She’s sure the blood from her left eye got into her right eye, it’s like opening your eyes in a pool. Burning and stinging.
She let out a small wince, her right hand sliding up, fingers pressing into her wound with a gasp.
“No, no. Don’t” A hand grabbed her own, moving it away as another hand cradled the left side of her face, lifting her up.
“It’s me, it’s Mel, just try and breathe.” Mel’s voice sounded so nice right now. It pulled her into some sort of trance.
Vi. Caitlyn gasped, sitting up, eyes widened, “Where’s- where is Vi? Where is she?” Caitlyn’s head glanced around, eyes watering from the pain shooting up her side and face.
“Cait- No, don’t move, you’ve lost a lot of blood-”
Mel was speaking, trying to lay Caitlyn down when Cait looked past her shoulder. Ekko. Even with blurry eyes, she knows that’s Ekko.
“Find Vi. Ekko, please, go… go find her.” Caitlyn finally accepted being pushed down as people crowded around her, some words about commanders or whatever, she was getting tired and closed her eyes

The scene was cleared, mainly just bodies with tarps and blankets over them. But medical tents were set up for those who were injured. Vi’s eyes scanned the area, no dark blue hair. She shook her head, looking at Ekko. Not here. Ekko clenched his jaw before noticing someone rushing over, making Vi’s head turn. Steb.
“Officer Vi… Commander Kiramman is… follow me.” Steb waved them both along as he turned to move over. The Zaunite’s glanced at each other before making the effort to move forward, following Sten into one of the tents. Vi counted the people in the room. Mel, one. Okay, okay. A nurse, no-no two nurses, that’s three. Tobias is there, that’s good, four, where the fuck is-
“Where is she?” Vi said out loud, causing Mel and Tobias to quickly look over. “Violet…” Tobias stepped over. “Sir, where’s-” “They took her into surgery, don’t worry.” Tobias said quietly.
They weren’t best buddies. Tobias and Vi weren’t… close at all. Actually, until now, Vi thought Tobias would pull a rifle on her-
“She’s in surgery, sit, sit.” Tobias moved a hand to Vi’s shoulder, trying to get her sat down. “No, what if- she can’t be alone I-I-” her eyes watered.
“I’ll go in there, okay?” Tobias whispered. “Caitlyn will hurt both of us if she knew no one treated you. So, you stay here, I’ll go in there and hold her hand for you, okay?” He added with a slow nod. Vi clenched her jaw and looked up at him. She finally released the hold on his arms before nodding, nurses filling her view as Tobias moved to do as he promised.

Vi stayed by Caitlyn’s side every day. For one whole week, Vi stayed in an uncomfortable hospital chair. Or well, for 3 days before Tobias offered to bring her a cot, so she stayed in an uncomfortable hospital cot for the rest of the week. On the morning of day 7, Tobias mentioned taking Caitlyn back to the Kiramman manor to rest in an actual bed.
“If you were stabbed by a warlord, in both the eye and abdomen, with major blood loss, would you want to stay in a shitty hospital tent?” Were his exact words. And Vi couldn’t agree more. But then that pulled up the question, Where would I go? But the Kiramman’s were always quicker. Tobias mentioned having over 10 free rooms, offering one of them to Vi. Or well, Violet because the father wouldn’t call Vi “Vi”.
It got Vi into the house, but the 8th day, exactly at 1 am, Tobias was moving to his room when he saw Vi standing by Caitlyn’s room, not wanting to leave her. Tobias cleared his throat, gaining Vi’s attention. The red head looked over and he gave her a small nod. Permission.
From then, Vi stayed in Caitlyn’s room. So, now going on two weeks, Vi was sitting in an old chair she dragged from the study. She’ll put it back, don’t worry. But she didn’t lay with Caitlyn. This was Caitlyn’s bed. Not hers. It was Caitlyn’s room, it was her shower, her house. Vi didn’t belong here.
“Vi?” The whisper took Vi’s out of her thought’s, eyes widening. She sat up straight, moving to hold Caitlyn’s hand, ignoring the pain in her arm which was held in a sling. Caitlyn mumbled, closing her eyes for a few more moments before finally opening them and looking at Vi.
“Cait.” Vi whispered, tilting her head a bit. Her eyes watered as she swallowed, drowning in Caitlyn’s cerulean eyes. Caitlyn’s hand squeezed Vi’s. It was a comfortable silence, just wanting to be in each other’s presence.
“Your arm.” Caitlyn’s posh accent coming out, Vi shaking her head. “Just broken, let's worry about the one who beat up a warlord.” She made a small joke, causing Caitlyn to let out a weak laugh, but then wincing at the pain in her stomach.
“Sorry, sorry.” Vi was quick to apologize, but Caitlyn pulled on Vi’s hand. “Lay with me.” Caitlyn whispered.
“I don’t know cupcake, I don’t want to-” “Please?” Caitlyn looked at her with… ugh that look. Vi stared for a moment before puffing her cheeks out and she moved around the bed to lay down on the soft foam. She made sure to lay on the side where Caitlyn could… well see her.
Caitlyn turned her head, smiling. “Hey.” She whispered, looking into Vi’s eyes.
“Hey.” Vi whispered back.
“Are… are we going to be okay?” Caitlyn said after a few seconds of staring at each other.
Vi didn’t know. Vi knows Caitlyn will be fine. She will be okay, she was strong, so strong. But Vi?
“Yeah. We’re gonna be okay.” Vi moved Caitlyn’s hand up to her mouth, pressing a small kiss against the back of Caitlyn’s hand. Even if it felt like a lie… they’ll be okay.
