Chapter one

Sirius nods his head to the music as Barty and Marlene play and Evan drums. His own guitar lay forgotten in his hands until he feels Marlene's glare burn a hole into the back of his head.

"I was born in a messed up century" he starts, singing into the microphone and smiling as the crowd sings along with him. "My favourite flavoured sweets are raspberry amphetamines"

Sirius tries his hardest not to look too far into the crowd, he knows if he does he'll see Regulus and freak himself out.

Which doesn't make any sense to him, because Regulus is the one who came to his show, so he should be the one freaking out!

"I bought a carberetta aged 16" He strums the guitar casually. "I brush my teeth with bleach cause I ain't got time for cavities!"

Sirius had thought about changing the next lyrics, for his brother's sake. But then thought, what the fuck, isn't that the whole part of the song?

"My daddy put," he sings  "A gun to my head, said if you kiss a boy I'm gonna shoot you dead! " He smiles thinking of Regulus' horrified expression from wherever he's stood.

"So I tied him up with gaffa take and locked him in a shed, then I went out to the garden" he points the microphone at the crowd who shout,

AND I FUCKED MY BEST FRIEND!

"Cause my," This is when Barty joins in "High hopes are getting low, because these people are so old!" He looks at Barty who was strumming his guitar and moving from side to side.

"The way they think about it all. If I tried I would never know" Sirius grins and nods his head back and forward to the rhythm of his guitar. "High hopes, are getting low"

"But I know I'll never be alone, it's already we'll survive" He points the microphone at the crowd again and the don't disappoint,

 CAUSE PARENTS AIN'T ALWAYS RIGHT!

--

Remus eats his toast and yawns. He was up late last night on the phone to Peter. He would've ended the call earlier but he barley speaks to his old friend anymore so he felt obligated to stay.

Peter is a baker, and business has been going great for him this past year. He won a medal for the 'best coconut cream pie', however Remus argues that his chocolate biscuits need a whole new category.

Peter is apparently going to James' garden party too. At least that's someone else he knows. For once he won't be glued to a wall or forced to converse with someone who 'just loves his books' then begins to explain the whole thing to him like he didn't write the thing.

Okay, that's mean. See?

"Lily, you know you have you're own house right?" Remus groans, still half asleep.

"Oh but I like your house so much better" She smiles. Lily lives across the street from him but they're basically roommates. If she's not as his house, he's at hers. They don't even consider it hanging out, they never plan for it to happen, they just always end up together. They can be sitting down in silence, Remus reading a book, Lily typing away at her laptop editing a video, and Remus will feel content.

Because more than anything, Remus loves silence. Not awkward silence, he hates that, but a comfortable one. Like an early morning alone at the beach, waves lapping against each other but no real noise.

"The beach" Remus pats himself down and pulls oh his notebook from his pocket. He grabs a pen from the table and starts to write. Lily watches him and smiles.

"Maybe you should take that with you, You might feel inspired" She advises. Remus shakes his head and puts his notebook down, content to have written something. How much of a weirdo would he look like if he just stood there jotting things down? Then he'd really be unapproachable.

"Anyways, without me you would've still been asleep" She pours water in a yellow vase and puts the flowers she brought in them.

"Yeah..sleep" Remus trails off, his eye lids feeling heavy. He opens his eyes and sits up abruptly when he smells something. "Is that chocolate?"

Lily holds her stomach and starts to laugh. She was wearing a light pink skirt with a cream sweater and white boots.

"Yeah it is. You have a weird sense a of smell" She hands him a bar of chocolate, he smiles at her appreciatively.

"Are you wearing that to the party? "

"Oh definitely not" She spins around "I just threw something on to come here. I have something totally different planned, you'll love it!"

"Threw something on? " Remus looks at her and grumbles, looking down at his toast. "I need new clothes."

"I like your clothes" She says "But yeah you need new ones "

"That's so back handed" Remus eats the chocolate and Lily grimaces at him.

"How can you eat that?" She walks up to him and picks up his notebook, looking through the writing. He cringes, remembering what be wrote. "So early in the morning too"

"What, this?" He moves his hand holding the chocolate up to her face. She slaps his arm away quickly but narrows her eyes at the notebook.

' I see you in everything gentle.

The soft waves moving against each other in the early hours of the day, calm movements creating a sense of '

"A sense of what?" She asks " I'm at the edge of my seat here! "

"I have no idea. I've been trying out different genres but romance is just.. not me" He sighs and eats more chocolate. Lily watches him.

"Seriously, how can you eat that?" She asks again.

She doesn't like milk chocolate, which Remus' thinks is a crime in itself. Lily prefers white chocolate, but rarely eats any.

"How can you not eat that?" Remus retorts, making Lily laugh.

"That doesn't even make sense." She giggles, Remus looks at her and smiles back. "Anyways I've got to go get ready"

"Get ready? It starts at 6 and it's 12"

"Yeah but knowing you, you'd want to get there like an hour early " Lily looks at him knowingly, Remus flushes in embarrassment.

"I don't want people to see me walk in!" He defends, holding his hands up as if that proves his point.

"Riiiighttt.." She rolls her eyes "And besides I need to curl my hair, paint my-"

"Yeah, I don't need your routine" Remus bites into the chocolate and Lily shoves him.

"Shut up!" She laughs. "I'll be back here at 5 and you better be ready"

"Yeah yeah .." Remus leans back into his chair when he hears the door shut.

Today is going to be such a long day.

 --

Marlene stares at the microphone like it's a gun pointed at her.

She would quite literally be singing on her own due to the fact it's new song and no one in the crowd knows it.

"Mar," Sirius calls. Marlene turns around and looks at him, her eyes wide. "You can do it." He smiles.

Marlene looks over at Barty and Evan, who both gave her a thumbs up. She nods and turns around.

Marlene didn't play the guitar for this song, which made Sirius jealous for some reason but she didn't really care. She walks forward and down the stairs. Away from the others so she's in the centre of the stage.

The room goes dark, a small light on the platform the others were on.

She crouches down with her microphone, closes her eyes and opens them when she hears Barty's guitar. A strobe of yellow lights flashed above them. Lines that went all the way down to the stage and smoke starts to fill it.

When she starts to sing, white lights flash to the beat of the drums.

"Did you think I'd show up in a limousine? No" She stares down at the ground, bobbing her head slowly. "Had to save my money for security"

"Got a stalker walking up and down the street, says he's satan and he'd like to meet" She slowly looks up at the crowd and grins as they shout.

Dancers start walking behind her and she struggles to contain her excitement. They never use backup dancers because Sirius and Barty always go off the routine and start head banging and running around the stage.

Marlene knows this part of the song builds up tension and she hopes the crowd feels it too. That's the thrill of it, they don't know what's coming and it's great.

"I bought a secret house when I was seventeen" She scans the crowd, smirking when she notices her band mates brother. "Haven't had party since I got the keys"

"Had a pretty girl over, but she couldn't stay" She starts to rise as the dancers stand still. "On her way, made her sign an nda"

She walks forward slowly, hearing Barty on the guitar only made her more hype. Some people at the front scream which fills the silence of the crowd as they watch her.

"Yeah, I made her sign an nda" She sings into the microphone, her walk speaking up as the dancers get into a line and walk too. "Once was good enough" The white light had a glitch effect to it, making everything look so much cooler. "Cause don't want her to have shit to say"

"Yeah.." She drags it out, her voice clean and smooth. "You ready guys?!" She shouts and the crowd screams.

"You could've saved me but I can't let you go" She raises the microphone as the white light flickers faster, along with a red one. She moves her head to the beat of her friends playing. Barty's guitar loud where there's no lyrics, the crowd jumping along to it.

"I could crave you but you don't need to know" Marlene moves side to side and holds the microphone with both hands. "Know" She drags this out and smiles as it goes dark again.

--

"You could've saved me but I can't let you goo!!" Marlene shuts her eyes and jumps as the dancers move around her. "I could crave you but you don't need to know!" She walks down the stairs, she had moved up again for the second verse.

"DID I TAKE IT TOO FAR?" Her voice was loud, but it sounded good. She could tell Evan was beating the drums as hard as he could and that Siruis was jumping around. Barty was most likely stood focused since this song mostly depends on him.

"NOW I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE" She jumps off the second to last step and ignores the hair in her face. "YOU HIT ME SO HARD" She spins around and puts one arm in the air.

The crowd look so happy and she is too. "I SAW STARS"

She head bangs, her pigtails turning messy but she doesn't care. "THINK I TOOK IT TOO FAR, WHEN I SOLD YOU MY HEART!" The crowd cheers, reaching they're arms to her when she walks closer.

"HOW DID IT GET SO DARK?" She walks back to the centre of the stage. "I SAW STARS." The flickering gets slower as she crouches down.

"Stars." It goes dark again, then flashes up to the platform as Barty strums his guitar aggressively. His face was slightly sweaty, making his eyeliner look smokey. He's on his knees now, leaning back as the room fills with his sound.

Evan's drums start to slow, until they stop along with Sirius on the guitar. Barty carries on his solo whilst watches in awe.

Barty was an annoying little shit, but he could shred the fuck out of a guitar.

Finally, he finishes and the room fades to black. The crowd screams and Marlene grins from ear to ear.

She goes back up the stairs and picks up her waterbottle, getting ready for the next song.

--

"No Remus." Lily stares at him. "It's really hot outside and you're going to feel sick. Either keep the jacket or the jumper."

Lily is wearing a sage long sleeved tight top, with a white maxi skirt. Her shoes are white sandals, showing her green nails. She has sage butterfly earrings, they're diamonds dangling that match her necklace. For her makeup, she put blush on, with pink lipstick and mascara. Her hair was in a waterfall braid, flower clips put around, two strands stay in front.

Remus sighs and takes off his jacket. Leaving him in a brown sweater and dark grey jeans.

"I'm so underdressed" Remus groans, but can't find it in himself to change. Lily looks around his room and picks up two silver bracelets.

"Here you go!" She smiles and gives it to him.

"How did you know where those were?" He asks, she doesn't reply, only looking futher into the room. She pulls out shoes for him to wear, brown boots with a tan laces. She gasps as she inspects them.

"How are these so clean? You got these last year!"

"It's not like I have anywhere to be going" He mutters and she frowns.

"Come on, put these on." She passes them to him, and reaches for two silver rings at his desk. "And then these! Maybe a belt with a bit of gold.." She trails off and starts talking to herself.

"Okay, we're gonna be late" Remus states whilst tying his show laces.

"Just rings and then belt, then we'll be done!"

"Okay. " He stands up and looks at her "Thank you"

"Don't be silly Remus" She smiles. Remus goes to change his belt and puts the rings on, when he walks back in Lily smiles.

"Brilliant." She goes downstairs, he follows. Before they leave, she glances at the notebook on the kitchen table. "Are you sure don't wanna take it? I mean, it's a garden party and isn't your friend like.. filthy rich?"

"If it's so mind blowing I'll ask him for photos." James, as well as an actor, is also a photographer. Though not as serious as his acting career, he enjoys it just as much.

Lily walks out and gets into the car, Remus follows before locking the door.

"Your last chance to say no.." Remus trails off and Lily raises her eyebrows at him.

"No way. After I spent hours on looking this good?"

"Yeah, you do look pretty " Remus starts the car and Lily smiles. "If some guys or girls start hitting on you please don't leave me, like I'm being serious Lils"

"Bros before hoes" Lily says then laughs as the car goes quiet.

"I can't believe you just say that" Remus snickers.

--

"How the fuck do you speak to him for 2 minutes and end up inviting him to James' garden party?!" Barty laughs.

"Shut up! He's in the bathroom!" Sirius whispers "And I don't know!" He pauses and hesitates before muttering out "I don't think he has any friends" And the thought of that makes his heart break. For some reason.

"He has Severus" Marlene whispers, brushing her hair. "Also, can you guys not have this conversation in my room?"

"What's the problem anyways? You like Regulus"

"Yeah I do, you're the problem here Sirius. You always get all weird around him and make everything awkward." Evan whispers, he's currently sat on Marlene's bed looking through her magazines.

"That is so not true!" Sirius gasps "Barty, tell him that's not true." Sirius turns to Barty, who only grins and shrugs.

"Guys, what top should I wear? " Marlene pulls out a black tank top then a red one.

"You can't wear a black tank top because I'm wearing one" Barty complains, Evan laughs and shakes his head.

"The black one" He advises. Sirius nods and Marlene throws the red one back into her wardrobe.

"What the heck guys?!" Barty groans. Marlene pulls out a white ripped sweater and Sirius' eyes her suspiciously.

"You know we're meant to be dressing like..elegantly right?"

"Yeah fucking right! Potter knew what he was doing to himself when he invited us. No way I'm dressing like some richy" Barty exclaims.

"That's not a word."

"Be quiet Evan."

"Guys, I need to get changed can you get out" Marlene's voice was muffled due to her being half in her wardrobe.

"I don't know why they're in here. I'm letting Regulus borrow my clothes so I can't go into my room right now"

"He's gonna wear your clothes?!" Sirius beams. Barty rolls his eyes.

"Yeah he is, don't shit yourself. I have some good clothes you know"

"That's a lie"

"Evan I swear." Barty mutters. Evan smiles at him, tucking his hair behind his ear.

"You can come to my room" He stands up and leaves, Barty smiles and follows.

"Barty does realise we have a kitchen and a living room right? " Sirius asks.

"I think he knows." Marlene smirks and shrugs "He just wants to go into Evans room, I guess." Sirius smirks back and leaves.

--

Sirius is wearing a see through black top with a black leather jacket. He also wears that with dark blue jeans and a silver belt. His hair was tied up in a 'half up half down' style, however most of the front was out due to his bangs.

He has on his signature eyeliner and black docmartins. His hands and wrists are filled with bracelets and some rings.

"Sirus! Stop looking at yourself in the mirror we need to go!" Marlene calls from downstairs. He walks down and rolls his eyes when he realises no one is ready.

Barty and Evan are on the couch, Evan doing Barty's eyeliner but getting nowhere did to them giggling every two seconds.

"Are you guys high?" Sirius asks and they both turn to him, Barty gasps, as if shocked Sirius would think that.

"We just smoked..a little bit of weed" Evan says then laughs along with Barty.

"They'll be sober when we get there" Marlene says. "If we get there" She adds on. She's wearing her black tank top with the ripped white sweater and green baggy jeans that cover most of her black shoes. Her hair was done in two plaits. For her make up she has a smokey eyeliner wing that draws in at the middle, with pink lipstick.

"Guys I'm being serious, let's go" She grabs the car keys. Evan and Barty stand up and Sirius looks at they're outfits. Barty was wearing a black tank top with dark blue baggy jeans. Evan is wearing a white band SlipKnot shirt with a black jacket and blue jeans.

Regulus walks out of the bathroom and down the corridor to everyone else.

"Sorry for taking so long." He mumbles. They're wearing a green jumper with a white skeleton on it and black cargo pants. His curly hair is cut into layers, longer at the back of his head than at this front. But still, not as long as Sirius'.

REGULUS ARCTURUS BLACK

occupation: model

current concern: loneliness

[ "Who's going to see this? Hey, I'm talking to you. What is this for? Do you know my father? You do don't you? He's up to something, isn't he? Just tell me I've already figured you out. Stop ignoring me. Hello? Excuse me?"]

~

"It's alright" Marlene smiles and walks out "Come on!" Evan and Barty follow her.

"Hey Sirius?" Regulus says as he's leaving, so quietly Sirius believes he's hearing things. The long haired man turns around and to see that his younger brother did in fact call him.

"Yes Reg?" He answers, ignoring his palms starting to sweat.

"Do you think you could make my eyes like that? " Regulus asks, staring at Sirius.

That was Regulus' problem, along with others, eye contact. They would stare into your soul and not see a problem with it.

"Yeah, yeah of course." Sirius smiles. "Just sit down on the sofa." Regulus nods and sits. Sirius picks up the eyeliner on the table and starts applying it.

After a moment, the door opens.

"Marlene sa-" Evan stops himself when he sees the scene in front of him. "Never mind.." He whispers and walks out, shutting the door quietly.

"Do you always makes that face?" Regulus asks. Sirius looks at him and furrows his eyebrows.

"What? What face?" He's genuinely confused.

"You stick your tongue out and stuff" Regulus smiles slightly, making Sirius smiles too.

"I do not." He pulls away and gets his phone camera out "Done." He passes it to Regulus who looks at himself and raises they're eyebrows.

"This is nice" They say " Thank you "

"Mhm!" Sirius stands up "Now come on, before we're even more late"

"We're late?!" Regulus stands up so quickly Sirius laughs.
