Chapter 3
Sirius woke up to the piercing sound of his alarm and groaned, rolling over to turn it off.
6:00 am.
Six in the fucking morning.
James had told them the day before to set their alarms so they'd have enough time to get ready so they could leave the house, and let's face it, Sirius took forever. He lay in bed, rethinking getting expelled from his old school, were a chauffeur dropped him off every day and they only had to leave the house at 8:30.
Once he finally got up it was already 6:17 and he quickly jumped in the shower(at least he still had an ensuite) and showered as quickly as possible before changing into his uniform. Long pants, a short sleeve blue button-up with the school crest on the pocket above his chest(it had a badger, a snake, a lion and an eagle on it). (I WILL THROW HANDS IF EVEN ONE OF YOU TRIES TO CORRECT ME. RAVENCLAW'S ANIMAL WAS AN EAGLE. IMMA CRY IF SOMEONE GETS IT WRONG AGAIN. THE NAME IS SUPPOSED TO TRICK YOU. DONT LET IT) There was also a v-neck school jumper and a blazer. In term 1 and 4 you could wear the blazer if wanted to(who would?) but in term 2 and 3 you had to wear the blazer when entering or leaving the school, as well as a tie that he was not looking forward to. He grabbed his school bag which was stocked full of the books Effie and Monty had supplied him with, as well as shiny new laptop. He walked downstairs and tossed the bag at the front door before making his way into the kitchen.
Regulus was there, sipping on a cup of coffee in his brand new uniform and looking even more delighted than usual.
"You know what would be really nice right now? England. Where the temperature would be at least somewhat reasonable and I wouldn't be wearing long pants in 35 degree heat." Regulus snapped before leaving the room, he was very good at that.
James sauntered in, through the door Regulus had just exited.
"What did you do?" he asked cheerily.
Sirius ignored him, setting about making himself toast.
"Did you pick your electives, then?
Sirius nodded minutely.
"Music and Drama. I figure they kinda go hand in hand, and I dunno, seems fun, I guess." he blushed, embarrassed for some reason.
James either didn't notice or ignored it.
"Great! You'll probably be in the same class as my friends, Lily, Marlene, Mary and Peter. They're all in music and drama, except Pete, he's only in drama(I couldnt decide who'd be in what so... and the valkyries totally have a band, alice too but she just doesnt take music as a class). Oh, and you'll probably meet some year 9's. For quote unquote 'non-academic' subjects, the classes have people in your stage, not just your year. Like, year 7's and 8's are together - they don't have electives, but art, music and tech are require your first two years - and year 9's and 10's, but it's a bit different for year 11's and 12's because year 12's have their HSC's, so they split them up." (disclaimer, not a real thing - in high school at least, in primary we only had one class and one teacher for all the subjects and yet half the time you'd end up bien gin a 3-4 class or a 5-6 class or smthing - i'm just doing it for the drama cos - spoiler - remus is a year 9 and cmon they gotta have a class together)
Sirius nodded.
"I hope Reg didn't pick either of them, then." he said bitterly.
"Oh, he didn't. He chose CTP(critical thinking and philosophy) and art(squealing)."
Sirius frowned. How come this guy they'd known for a day who was clearly wayyy too upbeat in the mornings knows what subjects his brother was doing when he himself didn't?
He brushed it off and ate his toast, before going back upstairs to brush his teeth.
The next thing he knew, James was ushering him and Regulus outside so they could walk to the bus stop.
