Remus had returned from the summer holidays with a small flag that he hung above his bed, next to the pictures of them all, and the poster of some muggle TV show that Sirius couldn’t remember the title of. But the flag was unfamiliar. He didn’t know any country’s flag that was pink, purple and blue. He’d definitely have remembered that.
“I thought you said you went to Ireland over the summer.” He said, lying on Remus’ bed as he unpacked.
“I did.” Came Remus’ voice from behind his trunk.
“Well, that’s not the Irish flag. Where else did you go?” Remus stood up. He had a weird look on his face. “Oh shit. Did you already tell me and I forgot?”
“No, I only went to Ireland, Pads,” Remus said, evenly. “I, uh, well— It’s the bisexual pride flag.”
Sirius’ mouth dropped open, “There are flags for that?”
Of course that’s the part Sirius would fixate on. “Yeah, there’s so many. I went to this really cool shop in Dublin and the entire shop was covered in them. It was amazing.”
“So, you… not just into girls then?” Sirius finally realised what Remus having this flag meant.
“Ah, no. Not just into girls.” He smiled, pulling the corner of his lip with his teeth. “Definitely not just into girls.”
“Congrats!” Sirius’ heart was pounding.
“Thanks.” Remus said quietly.

“So, you know how Remus has his fancy flag?” Sirius said in what he hoped was a nonchalant way.
“I wouldn’t call it fancy, but yes, I’m familiar with his flag.” James looked over his glasses at him.
“And it’s because he fancies boys too.”
“Yeah,” James continued to look at him expectantly.
“Well, do you think there’s a flag for people who aren’t interested in girls at all. Like, they just fancy boys?”
“Definitely!” James smiled at him, “Is this your way of telling me that you’re gay?”
“Looks like it.” Sirius huffed.
“No offence, but this isn’t exactly news to me.” James touched his shoulder, “I thought you might be like Remus.”
“I thought that at first, and then I thought back to all the stuff I’ve done with girls and it just— It doesn’t do anything for me.” Sirius shrugged. “Wait, you knew?”
“Suspected.” James corrected. “Thank you for telling me, though.”
“Am I that obvious?” Sirius looked panicked suddenly. Did everyone know?
“No,” James squeezed his shoulder gently, “When you live with someone for five years, you notice things more.”
“So Pete knows? Oh fuck, does Moony know?” Sirius’ eyes were wide.
“Pads, it’s not a big deal. I don’t know if they know. We’ve not had a secret meeting while you were in detention to discuss your sexuality, mate.” He grinned, “So have you got your eye on anyone?”
Sirius blushed violently, “No.” He lied.
“Have you kissed a boy?” James studied his face.
“Not yet.” Sirius muttered. “I don’t know who’s into it.”
“I bet Moony would know, or you could just kiss Moony.”
Sirius gasped, “I can’t just kiss Moony!”
“Why not? He likes kissing boys, you probably like kissing boys.” James shrugged, “Seems reasonable to me.”
“It’s actually very unreasonable. Moony can’t be my first kiss with a bloke!” He shrugged James’ hand off his shoulder.

“… and then as I was about to walk in, I hear Sirius say ‘I can’t just kiss Moony!’.” Remus groaned. “‘Moony can’t be my first kiss with a bloke.’”
“And you see this as a… problem?” Lily said. “Because you would love to be his first kiss with a bloke?”
“Not necessarily his first kiss, but I wouldn’t mind being a kiss.” He shook his head. “I didn’t even know that he might be into guys.”
“Yeah, you wouldn’t have noticed, I suppose.” Lily said with a small smile.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Well, there was a time last year when Sirius suddenly stopped getting off with any girl who’d throw herself at him, and he started spending more time with you.” Lily knew Remus would need more than this. “Not the four of you together, just you.”
“I had a bad moon, he was just being nice.” Remus frowned.
“You don’t even believe that.” She shook her head. “Remus.”
“Lily.”
“You should talk to him.”
“‘Hi Pads, heard you don’t want to kiss me.’” Remus deadpanned.
“Oh,” said a voice from behind them and Remus’ heart dropped. “Well, you weren’t supposed to hear that.”
Remus turned around slowly to see Sirius looking nervous. “Wolf ears.” He pointed at his head, “Plus you left the door open.”
“Ah.” Sirius looked at the floor.
“That’s my cue to leave.” And with that, she left the room.
“I’ll kill her,” Remus said under his breath. “Look, I’m not offended or anything.”
“No, it’s just. James was joking really. He said that— Because I don’t know who else is into blokes. He said that you’d know, or I could just kiss you.” Sirius rambled.
“Wait, you want to kiss blokes? Like, actually?”
“Yeah, I asked James if there's a flag for people who only want to kiss boys.” Sirius said, “Because that’s me.”
Remus’ face lit up, and it made Sirius’ hands go clammy. “Oh, nice! Thanks for telling me, that’s great!” He thought for a second, “I think your flag is all shades of blue and teal. Not as pretty—”
“I’d like to kiss you, Moons. Can I?”
Remus nodded, stunned. Sirius chuckled nervously before shaking off any anxiety. This was Moony, for fucks sake.
He brushed his lips against Remus’ softly, then pulled back to look at him. His eyes slowly opened and before Sirius could even think about it, his hands were in Remus’ sandy curls, pulling him closer as their lips moved together. He sucked Remus’ lower lip into his mouth, eliciting a growl which definitely did things for him.
