chapter 1

Harry Potter

He smiled as he walked towards the second-floor girl's bathroom. He didn't have much money but if he could get his hands on anything Salazar Slytherin had left behind in his chamber perhaps he could buy a broom for himself. No, that would be stupid. If he spent all of his free time playing quidditch that may cause his grades to drop, and he didn't want that. It was not as if third-year grades meant much in the wizarding world but if he fell behind in studies then he would not get as many points for Slytherin House for him to make a difference in the points table and bullying may start again.

He shuddered at the memory of his first year at Hogwarts. He had been so happy for being free of Dursley's, to eat his full after nine years of insufficient diet, he felt as if he could for the first time make friends but no. It was as if just like in the muggle world. They hated him. Slytherin's were mostly all rich if not all but none of them were poor except perhaps him. Who would want a poor, malnourished kid who looked like a skeleton with skin with sellotaped glasses as a friend? Most of his fellow housemates hated him not just for being poor but also because apparently his father had married a muggle-born witch which made him a blood traitor and also made Harry a blood traitor which meant that he was a stain on House Slytherin's.

He snorted at the thought of blood purism it shocked him that the purebloods could think themselves superior to muggles born's when they were outdone by the muggle-born. He had seen his mother's records. She had been the first female head girl who was not a pureblood with grades that she had received the opportunity to join unspeakable's just out of Hogwarts. But purebloods would always want to be above muggle born's whom they so believed of dirty blood, and he could not shake their belief but neither did he want to he wished that they would get what they had been begging for.

Hermione Granger came second in marks just after him and then there were like half a dozen Ravenclaw then another Slytherin Daphne Greengrass when it came to scores on tests one of the reasons why Older Slytherin had told the house to stay clear from him.

But he had other motivations to study and get good scores. He wanted to excel so that his parents could be proud of him and more so because he wanted to avenge his parent's deaths. Sirius Black was on the run and had betrayed his parents to Voldemort, and he was not going to escape alive from him.

~~ Open ~~ He hissed

The wall creaked and then folded inside revealing a dimly lit passage. Knowing that there were no stairs he jumped inside as he slid down. It would have been fun if not for all the dust and grimness that had gathered here from centuries passed by.

The tunnel curved as it descended slowing him down to a halt as he reached the lowest level. The last time he had come here was last year following Neville Longbottom under a disillusionment charm which was very hard to master more so for a second year. But he had dedicated hundreds of hours to the spell so that he could move freely at night, and it had paid him back as far as he was concerned. He had used it countless times to sneak into the forbidden forest and restricted section.

He got back onto his feet and slowly walked across to a large metal door and once again used parsletongue to open the door.

Inside lay a huge carcass of basilisk which stunk so bad that he vomited. No one had disposed of the corpse, and it had started rotting. He still sometimes marvelled how come Longbottom of all people had managed to kill a thousand-year-old basilisk the boy who could barely cast a charm right though there was no denying that he was good in defence against dark arts much better than him in fact to his chagrin it was one of the few two classes in which he was outdone the other being potions were Daphne Greengrass was the top student then followed by some others though it was not his fault as the potions professor much less his own head of house graded him unjustly for a grudge held against his father at least a decade and a half ago. He didn't know how a man could sink so low as to hate a child whose parents were dead but then again it was not like he wasn't hated for who his parents were in his own house and by his own peers.

He approached the giant statue of Salazar Slytherin's head and repeated what the heir of Slytherin had said.

~~ speak to me Slytherin greatest of Hogwarts four ~~

The mouth opened he carefully climbed the statue to slip inside the opening.

Inside there was complete darkness and he cast Lumos charm so that he could see.

He walked carefully it would not do well if he fell into the huge hole where the basilisk apparently rested and broke any part of his fragile body where no one would come to rescue him. As he walked inside he found some light coming from a corridor, and he walked into it. He could clearly see a dimly lit room into which he walked.

Inside the room, there was a mess. It looked like someone had ransacked the room in a hurry there were books everywhere, but he was disappointed. There was little to be found. There were a dozen books some of which seemed interesting, but others were either illegible or had pages torn from it. He scavenged for things he could sell.

In the end, there was little to be found. He had managed to obtain four books one on dark arts a guide, one on advanced Transfiguration and one on charms and last one was quite bulky and was on runes and arithmancy It seemed from start to a good advanced level as he saw that in the end there were complex matrixes and permutation and combination which were quite complex to solve though not as hard as muggle ones but still complex enough which he knew from asking some seniors that matrixes would not be taught up till seventh year and permutation and combination in mastery. There were some parchments which were scattered it seemed like they were notes made by someone, and they were quite good he had collected all the parchments to study these notes aside from these little things which he was going to keep for himself. Aside from this he found a silver hairpin which he was going to sell a pocket watch which seemed expensive and some pieces of acromantula silk but little else. He knew it was late, and it was time to get out and with that he sprinted up till entrance. It was going to be tricky to get out, but he knew from explorations from last year after Long bottom and Weasley had left saving Weasley's sister that there was a tunnel down corridor which directly led to forbidden forest. He knew his way around the forest from his explorations into it hence he could exit the chamber much quicker than hiking his way up the slide which was going to be tiring and quite an arduous task.

He entered the tunnel which led to forest and began to walk.
