I need to confess something

“I should confess something to you all…”

Percy exclaimed one evening during dinner at the Burrow.

The eyes of all the family turned to him with a confused gaze.

Molly encouraged him with a smile but the young man wasn't able to stand the contact of their eyes.

“What?”

Asked Arthur.

“I…I'm…”

“Are you engaged?” Ginny proposed.

“Are you gonna be a dad?”

Teased George with a laugh.

After Fred's death he hadn't been laughing for a long time and now that he's able to again the family is also ready to go on.

If George is trying, they should do it too.

“Umh. No and No. But it's about this topic. I don't think I'll ever be a dad and I don't know if I'll ever get married but I know that I'm happily in love. I know it could look weird and unusual but in those years I found out that I'm not the only one, that around the world there are millions of people that like me are not ‘allowed’ to love. Allowed by old ideologies and archaical society. I hope you'll understand but I should say it. I'm gay…”

The confused faces didn't change.

They looked to Percy and then to each other.

Ron decided to talk.

“Uh, so? I mean, are you trying to prove the speech to do at the Ministry or something like that?”

Percy shook his head, also confused.

“No, I'm coming out with you all…”

“Perce… We already knew that, didn't you know?”

Quietly, Molly whispered.

All of his family appeared shocked by the fact he didn't know they had been knowing about his sexuality for years.

Percy thought that Oliver would have found it hilarious.

“Perce you are the gayest person I've ever met, it's obvious!”

Charlie laughed.

Bill simply shook his head, being the only one Percy had already come out.

“Sorry, but did you not tell me when I recovered at the hospital after Scrabble’s accident?”

Ron asked with a curious expression on his face, at his left Harry nodded surely.

“I can remember something Ron told me about this…”

Percy remembered.

That moment was one of the weirdest periods of his life.

He had discovered that his rat was actually a man and he felt so guilty with his little brother but on the other hand he had just found out that he was desperately in love with his roommate.

When he came to Ron who was laying in the bed, he thought he was sleeping so he started apologizing, crying out all of his emotions, starting from the guilty arriving to the pressure of being the best and at the end the fact he had just found out he was in love with a man.

“Oh, I thought you were sleeping…”

Ron said ’no’, shaking his head.

“Umh, Percy, but did you not date that one boy obsessed with quidditch during school years?”

As confused as anyone else, Arthur asked.

“I remember something like this too”.

Confirmed Charlie.

“Uh…” Percy felt weird, a mix between shocked and funnied.

“Yes! Fred told me it was true! You and Wood weren't just friends, I thought he was joking but now I'm pretty sure he wasn't…”

“Sorry but it wasn't an official thing? I thought so…”

Finally Ginny spoke, gazing at Percy with her big blue eyes.

“I never thought you knew… Umh, well, we are still together…”

Everyone seemed happy to hear this new piece of Percy's puzzle.

Because most of them thought Percy was an intrigued person who needs to be discovered pass to pass.

“And why does he never come to our house, honey? I thought he enjoyed Christmas with us…”

Molly asked.

“Yes he absolutely loved having Christmas holidays with us but we agreed that until the day I had found the courage to come out, it was better if we saw each other in another place. We haven't go to Hogwarts in years, so why should we continue to spend Christmas together as friends? It's uncommon!”

“Oh. He can come around every time he wants. If he means something to you, he would mean something to us.”

Percy smiled.

He was the luckiest man in the world to have a family like that.
