Keep me by your side at all times I won’t leave
Severus walked down the hallway head turned down his feet dragging. The corridor seemed to go on forever he looked up occasionally as to not bump into someone.
The door clicked shut Severus walked to one of the middle tables The professor would be here soon his attention was glued to the desk anxious today had been quite bad some Griffandor’s had tripped him while walking into the great hall most older children ignored it but his peers laughed and whispered. Then if that wasn’t bad enough they gave him a crude “nickname” Snivellus The Professors just laughed it off saying it was a joke when he started crying.
His thin robes were wrapped around himself he shivered the room was getting colder by the second it wasn’t even December yet barely the start of the school year.
The Professor walked in taken aback by the freezing room and the student already there she tried to cast a heating spell it didn’t work she kept trying for several minutes until students walked in most froze at the fist step in the room Mcgonagall motioning them to come in and take a seat.
Chattered teeth could be heard from the students Severus took out some parchment and a quill before stopping staring off to the floor eyes dull and placing them back in his bag.
The professor introduced herself apologizing for the dropping temperature saying it would be fixed by the next lesson children huddled together or into their robes some even tried to cast a heating spell of their own.
The rest of the day went by like this classes dropping in temperature the Professors apologizing the room going back to normal a few minutes after Severus left and following him into the hall.
Lunch was better no one sat with him but that was okey he had his books to keep his occupation the heating charms he learned from his mother had worked making his robe nice and cozy for about three hours before they needed renewing.And those Griffandor’s had yet to bother him not in class or in the halls no-one bothered him today after the classes it was nice not to be stared at.
With his food finished he continued on with his day but felt like there were a couple of eyes on him following him he brushed it off the feeling stopped once he got to the library.
The day went on like normal no surprise falls or any uncomfortable eye contact with someone. The Freezing temperatures dropped down through out the day it felt like Severus could breathe normally again.
His roommates complained about reporting the school for not heating the classrooms today. Severus dozed off to the cold that followed him leaving for the night his breathing slowing down.
Four young figures were walking back to the dorms they had snuck into the kitchen to grab a snack using an invisibility cloak Black had almost got them caught up with Filch being too loud complaining about todays cold heating system. Potter opened the door to the Griffandor common room moving quickly as the prefects were set to patrolling the halls in a couple of minutes.
Potter got ready for bed brushing his teeth washing his face and laying down on the bed waiting for sleep to take him.
That night was the worst for the four boys Potter had a dream about that Slytherin Snivellus first it started off like a normal day James going down the corridor but he was alone eventually he saw that no one was there not even the professors he started sweating running around looking for anyone it turned up useless until he found himself looking back to the great hall he saw that boy Sirius had Tripped up still in the same place as when he started crying.
James approached the boy shaking his shoulder “Hey Snivellus where is everyone” he asked looking around the great hall Echoing sobs started to sound Potter pulled back from him the boys hair was shorter than the snakes.. the child turned to face potter his hair was damp with what looked like bright blood it streamed down to his face his eyes red from crying maybe. Black irises dull.
Crack one of the lights went out the boys face stayed staring James couldn’t move to run his legs shaking threatening to drop him. Two cracks sounded the boys eyes never moved from Potters face he didn’t flinch as the remaining lights went out the only one on his right casted a shadow over half his face the blood on his right side being the most visible he took a step closer to James, the brunette flinched his body felt like weights another step and another until they were face to face.
James shut his eyes lip trembling body shivering….A drip sounded Potter peaked an eye Blood spewed out of the Blackett like a tap never ending he was talking but nothing was coming out.
He leaned in closer getting James’ robes bloody whispering something in his ear it was muffled he was grabbed by the neck his oxygen cut off made hearing what the boy was saying even harder before he passed out one word made it through.
“SEV…”
James woke up breathing hard after calming down he sat at the foot of his bed minutes later Sirius jostled awake rubbing his right eyelid Potter calmed him down asking what happened before being interrupted by a screaming Peter holding his face. Next was Lupin holding his ears gritting his teeth.
They all huddled on Blacks bed breathing slowed James was the first to actually talk about what he dreamed about the three others faces paled eyes widened.
“I had the same N-nightmare…but I-it clawed at my f-face and said “ALONE” instead of S-Sev” Peter shrinked recalling what had happened.
They all connected the words together Remus writing it down.

They were confused who’s SEV ERU? James couldn’t sleep a wink not after what happened who was that, he looked like he could be of Hogwarts age but his skinny body and white long shirt made him look poverty struck.
