Chapter 1
Two hooded figures moved in silence. What was once a sprawling and opulent Manor of an old family now lay in ruins. The Dark Lord ruled over Britain, and the failure of Harry Potter cost the lives of most of the wizarding world along with England's muggle population.
Fourteen years had passed, and the surviving members of the Order could barely hold themselves together.
"This way." He led them past the entrance to the drawing room. He could still hear her screams from that day, another wrong he would be sure to right.
"When did they say they were coming?"
"Soon, be quiet, and don't let the portraits see you." The last thing he needed was the portraits of some old pure blood, noticing them and reporting back to the general. All would be lost if anyone other than those they were supposed to meet arrived. He held his breath as they approached them.
"Come here and stay by me."
He watched as Blaise Zabini and Theodor Nott entered, both boys he had known since they were children. Now grown men hardened by war, they looked around nervously.
"Nott. Zabini." He wondered if they would recognize him.
"It's you! But you…" Theodor's voice trailed off, his eyes unsure and frightened.
"Lucius." Zabini was better at keeping his cool façade.
"Have you done it?"
"Why should we trust you? Are you not happy with the world you created?" Theador's rage started coming out, and Lucius couldn't blame him.
It had been a dream, the rise of the Dark Lord. Yet, had he known that it would cost his life and his family would he have chosen differently.
"You may not trust me, Theador, but trust her."
Lucius motioned for his companion to step forward. He watched Zabini and Nott's shocked expressions as she pulled off her hood.
“Fanculo, sei proprio uguale a lei.” Zabini whispered.
"Selena, but how? They said they only found the boy," Theodore demanded.
"How? Or Why? Does it matter, Nott? If you have it, give it over so we can fix this. You are right not to trust me, but I want to protect my family."
"Theo. This is the only chance; the Order needs it." Zabini tried to reason with his friend. Yet Lucius could see Theodore's reluctance.
"If you don't believe them, believe me, I'm the one going. This is the only way, please, Theo."
"What's your plan?"
"The less you both know, the better," Lucius said, checking his watch. They were supposed to be back already. He looked at Theodore, using a light legitimacy to see what he was thinking.
"I don't trust this… She's so much like her…"
The boy's thoughts were a mess, too emotionally charged. Lucius was sure how he had made it this far had more to do with his father than anything else.
"Hand it over if you have it. There isn't much time."
He had to take her back to the Order, and plans had to be made.
"It's here." Said Nott, taking out a small pouch. He handed it carefully to Lucius.
"Are we sure it will work?"
"No, but that is the risk we're taking," Blaise said, shrugging his shoulders. Lucius nodded, tucking the pouch into his robes.
"Selena, let's go."
Without waiting for a response, Lucius took Selena's hand, apparting away.
Shel Cottage had withstood the test of the war. Although its location was desirable to the Dark Lord, the Order knew how to keep it safe.
"Why didn't you let me speak to them!" Lucius watched as Selena stomped away. They reached the door, knocking in the combination the Order had shown them before leaving.
"Who brought you to the order?" Asked a voice on the other side of the door.
"Lucius Malfoy."
"And you, who was our spy amongst the Death Eaters before you?"
"Severus Snape"
Lucius heard a few clicks before the door opened to Ronald Weasley. Selena walked up to him, wrapping her arm around him.
"How'd it go?" He asked Lucius.
"I have it; we need to plan now."
The surviving Weasley son nodded, letting go of Selena.
"I'll call the others."
Lucius said nothing while Selena took off her cloak and made herself comfortable. Years as a defector, yet he was never at ease among them. His concern had always been Selena, making sure she was safe. He didn't care what the Order thought of him; he could hear the crack of apparition. While the Weasley boy went to let the other Lucius look at Selena.
"You will not say anything about our plan b."
She nodded.
"Malfoy." Kingsley greeted him as he entered; behind him, Minerva McGonagall and Molly Weasley made the rest of the Order's leadership.
"We have an opportunity. We have been fighting this war for far too long. Too many lost lives, and nothing gained. Now Mr Malfoy has come with what he hopes will be a way to change things before they get out of hand."
Lucius pulled out the pouch that Theodore had given him, gently removing what was inside to the sound of gasps around the room.
"But…"
"A Time Turner. How on earth did you get one?" Said, Minerva
"Let's just say there are people on both sides who want things to be different." He said, unwilling to give up Theodore or Blaise.
"Now, we must decide who's going back and how far back.
Suddenly, everyone began yelling simultaneously; Lucius rolled his eyes before clearing his throat.
"If you all could control yourself. There is only one person that is going back."
"As if we'd allow you to go back in time, Malfoy." This time, it was the Weasley boy.
"I wasn't speaking about myself, Mr Weasley."
"He was talking about me." Lucius allowed Selena to step forward.
"Selena, dear, you're just a child." Molly Weasley began.
"She's capable." Lucius knew she could do it.
"Yes, because you are used to using your family this way."
"Molly, shall we talk about our children? Are you certain you are in a position to speak about my parenting?"
"Everyone relax." Kingsley held up his hands to get the room's attention.
"I don't like this. Selena is a child."
"She's the best option." Ron Weasley's voice cut into the room.
"Why do you say that, Mr Weasley?" Minerva asked
"She's not attached. If I go, I'll get emotional from seeing everyone again. Mr Malfoy will only try to save his wife and son. Selena, while sad, doesn't know anyone, at least on a personal level."
"Are you okay with this, Selena?" Kingsley asked her. Lucius knew the girl would agree only because they had already discussed it.
"Yes." That was all she said.
Kingsley nodded, instructed the Weasley boy about Selena, and ended the meeting. Lucius watched as they spoke.
They would leave in a few days, and she would go back in time and save the wizarding world and her parents.
