REGULUS
Ever since his first day at Hogwarts, Regulus black had always loved James Potter until his brother's 16th birthday when Sirius ran away to the potters, leaving him behind. Now Regulus is 17 and in his 2nd last year at Hogwarts, it was in potions when Regulus hears the insufferable voice of the one and only James Potter, seeing him walk into his classroom regulus rolls his eyes and begins to talk to his friends, Evan and Pandora rosier, Barty crouch jr and Dorcas meadows. Barty, Pandora and Evan are all in their 7th year while Dorcas was in 8th year, the same as James and Sirius. “Why does it have to be him out of all 8th years getting put in our class today? Why James” he mutters under his breath a little too loudly so that Barty and Pandora hear him and chuckle. Regulus decides to turn around a little and sees James sitting behind him smiling. “Hey black” James says with a slight laugh after seeing Regulus go red and turn around quickly. He feels James resting his feet on the back of his chair. Regulus tries not to pay attention to him but it is so hard when he looks that good with his curly black hair, beautiful clear skin and those stupid glasses that only he could pull off. Once the class is finished regulus gets out of his seat a little too quickly and falls over but strangely enough, he doesn't feel his body hit the cold ground instead he feels warm hands catch him, he smiles a little before going back to his cold harsh self and standing up again. “Hey are you ok, what happened there?” James says in a scared tone. Regulus feels his body stiffen up and he stands up trying to get away.
“Regulus, are you ok?” James says his voice stern which causes Regulus to look at him and blush slightly. “Im fine, just the perks of being iron deficient,” Regulus says sarcastically before trying to walk away but James grabs his wrist.
“Im taking you to the hospital wing” Regulus tries to fight it but he is too weak and ends up just doing as James says. They walk to the hospital wing and Regulus feels James put his hand around his waist and places a soft kiss on the top of his head “James what are you doing, people are going to think that you are gay” Regulus says sounding worried for James’s reputation but all he hears is James chuckle and pull him a little closer which causes regulus to blush again.
“I mean it's better than them lying and saying im straight,” he says looking at Regulus who is easily four inches shorter than him. Regulus goes quiet for a second. “Wait what?” regulus says looking James up and down trying to figure out if he is lying or not “im pan”
JAMES
“oh im sorry I assumed I didn't know” he stutters but all James does is smile “It's fine regulus I promise, not many people know right now,” he says and ruffles Regulus’s hair and sees him blush a little. “James I know you only see me as Sirius’s little brother but I have been needing to tell you something for a long time” Regulus says with a little stutter
“Um ok?” James reply
“I like you James and not as just a friend I really like you, I have wanted to kiss you since I first saw you on the tra-” Regulus tries to say but James cuts him off by stepping forward and kissing him. james feels a shock go through his body and then he feels Regulus pull away “im sorry I shouldn't have done that” Regulus says hiding his face. James just smiles and kisses him again showing Regulus its ok when all of a sudden sirius walks past them after seeing Remus in the hospital wing “What the fuck James!” he shouts and slapping him across the face “Sirius im sorry” James says as he holds his face where Sirius slapped it. Regulus is still in shock after everything that happened. “Sirius it's fine I kissed him” Regulus says trying to take the blame though not lying at the same time. Sirius shoots a look at Regulus and then at James. “I don't want to see or hear about this EVER again, ok?” Sirius says with a stern voice. James just nods in response and then continues to walk regulus to the hospital wing and to also get some ice for his face since it is starting to hurt. They get to the hospital wing and James sits on Regulus’s bed next to him while they wait to get him a dose of his iron supplements and James’s ice pack. James rests his head on Regulus’s shoulder and starts to slowly fall asleep.
REGULUS
Once James was asleep regulus asked madam pompfry if they could stay until James woke up and if he could get a blanket, madam pompfry agreed that it would be a good idea and suggested that he should also try to have a nap. Regulus can feel James chest going up and down with his breath and he finds it oddly soothing. He starts to softly stroke his brown wavey hair until he starts to fall asleep. Madam Pompfry is standing in the corner watching this happen and she can't help but remember when she and Minnie used to do this when they were young and in love. She leaves them alone and comes back in 2 hours to wake them up so they don't miss dinner. Once James and Regulus wake up they both seem a bit confused and surprised to see that they had fallen asleep together but once Regulus wakes up a little he decides to cuddle into James for a little bit while he waits for James to wake up more. “Is it bad that that sleep was the best I've had in years?” regulus whispers while listening to James’s heartbeat and the feeling on his chest rising and falling with each breath. He sees James smile “Yeah I haven't slept like that since first year when everything was just simple without any stress” James whispers back and wraps his arm around Regulus and places another small kiss on his forehead and then on his cheek and then his nose and regulus thinks he will never stop and he hopes he doesn't but then he feels James hesitate a little and sit up. “Regulus we can't do this, im your brother's best friend it will kill him” James says and Regulus feels like he had just been stabbed in the heart by the only person he had ever loved.
“James, I have loved you ever since I saw you on the train when I was in the first year, you had that atrocious messy hair and hideous glasses that only you could pull off You were laughing with your friends and you had that amazing smile and when I saw you I thought “he’s the one, he’s the one I want to spend the rest of my of my life with and ever since then that feeling had never went away,” regulus says all of this without taking a breath and once he finishes he starts crying and he looks at James and then out of nowhere he feels James’s soft lips on his and all of his stress and worries go away. He feels James move his hands into Regulus’s dark black curls and he can feel James' lips form a smile as they continue kissing and in his head, all he could think was how amazing this was and how beautiful James was. They both hear a knock on the door and Regulus quickly gets off of James’s chest and when they look at the door they see Remus Lupin standing at the door with his arms crossed “Sirius told me what happened but I thought he was overreacting but don't worry I won't tell him and if yous are together then congratulations” regulus feels himself blush and looks over at James. “We haven't really figured that out yet,” he says while looking at James. He just smiles in response “Well I think I will leave you two alone” Remus says whilst walking out of the room.
JAMES
1 week later James found himself longing for regulus every 10 minutes. The feeling of his soft silky hair or the glisten of his eyes when he smiled. He missed the feeling of when they would lie down together or when they would sneak out at night to go to the astronomy tower and how he would listen to Regulus talk about the stars and all of their stories or when Regulus would show him where his star was. But that was all over now,
regulus
Regulus told James that their relationship would never work. If Sirius were to find out then both of them would be dead and regulus was trying so hard to rekindle his relationship with his brother and that this would mess it up and it hurt James, so much “I love you regulus” James says in a quiet voice as if he is about to cry
“It’ll pass” Regulus replied deadpan and walks away
That was the day that regulus arcturus black the last heir of slythrin died.
