The more the Maryer
Remus laughed so hard at Sirius's joke he spilled his coffee all over the table.
" Hey! Look what you did!"he said, laughing.
Sirius seemed unbothered.
"Nah, It's just a little coffee, it'll be fine!"
" Not talking bout the table, you dofus! I'm taking about my essay! It's ruined! Now I have to rewrite the whole thing!"
" You should be more careful, then!"
Remus raised his eyebrows.
" What? Then you should be less funny!"
Sirius raised his eyebrows too .
" No, you should be less awesome!"
" No, you should..." He didn't get to finish and he found Sirius kissing him. So, yeah he had to kiss back.
And then the bell rang.
" Are we expecting someone?" Asked Sirius, very confused.
" Well, let's see, my other boyfriend comes at Tuesdays, so... No"
He took a pillow on the head as an answer.
Remus opened the door and there she was, the one and only Mary McDonald, looking gorgeous in her total pink fit and heart shaped sunglasses.
" Hi gals!"
" Mary! How come you honour us with your fabulous presence?"
Mary smiled but in a... Nervous way?
" Actually, I hoped we could have a little talk..."
Oh no. That wasn't for good. They'd better be ready for the worst.
" Sure, come in! Do you want some cake?"
" Nah " she said, sitting down. " But I'd love to hear about your plans for James and Lily!"
His jaw dropped. Yep, this wasn't for good. Fortunately Sirius came to the rescue.
" I have no idea what you're talking about, dear." He said, looking very much innocent.
" Really now Black? I wasn't born last night! I know something's off about them, and I know you have something to do with it." Sirius didn't blink twice.
" I don't understand, we..."
" C'mon, you can't think I'm that dumb! First they get locked up together, then the Amorentia... It's not a coincidence. And you know it!"
Remus bit his lip. Without wanting to he immediately thought of the previous day. He and Sirius had carefully written the blackmailing letter to Dumbledoor, using the Death Eater style and some magazines. They obviously knew Dumbledoor would make Jily keep an eye on the corridors. Now he seriously hoped Mary couldn't read minds.
He saw Sirius thinking for a second.
" Wait, family meeting now. And I mean only Remus and me "
He took Remus's hand and dragged him in the bathroom, locking the door behind them.
" What are we gonna do? There's no way of convincing her we're innocent angels!"
" Well we can't tell her! God knows what she's gonna do! Maybe she'll try to sabotage our plans, or even worse, tell Evans!"
Mary started sounding inpatient out there.
" Black! You can't hide in there forever! Come out and we can talk about this like big kids!"
" Are you kidding me? Maybe we can blame it on Dumbledoor! Or obliviate her! Or ..."
" Black, I'm gonna count to three! One..."
" Ok, we tell her everything "
They came out of the bathroom shyly, Sirius looking like a guilty puppy.
" Let me guess! You had to discuss where to go for vacation"
" No need for the sarcasm McDonald. We admit it. We've been trying to set Prongs and Reddy up."
Mary jumped on the bed so hard she almost broke it.
" Ha! I knew it! But why are you doing this? "
" Now, you're the one playing dumb McDonald! They're the perfect match! Can't you see? They would be endgame! But now that won't happen anyway. You're gonna go tell Lily, she'll tell James and they'll be both mad at us! They won't even give it another chance!"
Remus saw Mary's big green eyes light up with surprise.
" What? You think I wanted to tell Lily? You must be insane!"
" Then what? You wanted to just 'solve the crime'?"
Mary smirked and her eyes were now sparkling.
" No you silly! I wanted to help."

James kept staring at the letter, but nothing seemed to make sense.
Today. Library. 23:30. Don't tell anyone.
What was that supposed to mean?
He yawned. He hadn't gotten much sleep last night, partially because of Evans. And as awesome as this sounds, it was because of their late night shifts, looking for potential Death Eaters, while they desperately tried to stay awake by telling each other stories and stupid jokes. In other words he had the time of his life.
That sure wasn't gonna happen today, he thought as he read the letter once more. Something felt odd, maybe the secretive tone, or the unknown sender, but something told him that it wasn't going to be a surprise party for the... 6 months before his birthday?
He looked at the clock, realising it was already eleven and quickly started getting dressed. God,this was insane. A random stranger just decided to meet him at midnight and now he was sneaking out, despite the school rules, probably getting himself in huge trouble just because he was curious. This could easily be a Slytherin prank, or even a Death Eater meeting, or something and would he still go? Absolutely.
He left the room, watching out in the hallway before leaving the Gryffindor tower.
For a split second he thought he saw a... very familiar red head. Nah, he shook his head, he was being insane. This girl was on his mind the whole day, she didn't need to be at night too.
He tried to go silently into the library, which wasn't very easy, especially when he almost broke a vase. Why did they even need a vase in the library?
" Oh, there you are!" James almost had a heart attack. He turned around to see a girl around his age, with long brown locks, pale skin and a Slytherin robe. Did she know him?
" I thought you weren't coming! What took you so long?"
He gave her a confused look.
" I'm sorry do I...? "
He felt two more wands lightening the room and suddenly he saw... Sirius, Remus and... Evans?
" Potter? What are you doing here?" Asked Lily whispering, with a face even more confused than his.
He had no idea what was happening. But either way he also didn't have the chance to respond to her because right there and then the girl in the Slytherin robe leaned in and kissed him.
What the heck?
He heard Remus scream a little and immediately broke the kiss. He looked at Lily who had turned red within a second, blinked twice and stormed off the room, pulling Sirius by his sleeve and dragging him with her. What had just happened? He turned to the girl.
" Wha - Did you just? Hey do I know you? "
She looked at him stunned.
" Hey you're not Teddy!" She said, looking like she'd been hit by a truck.
" Who's even Teddy?"
" My boyfriend! You're not him!"
" You thought I was your boyfriend?"
" Well duh, why would I kiss you otherwise?" She said desperately, on the verge of crying. " I don't understand! I sent a direct message to Teddy telling him to meet me here! " She remained quiet for about a minute. " Unless..."
Oh god no! He thought. This was so wrong. The message he had gotten was a love letter meant for a random Slytherin, whose girl kissed him in front of his five year crush and was now having a full on crisis. This kept getting better and better. He sighed.
" Hey, I'm sorry, I'm sure your boyfriend will understand! Look, I, I have a crush ok? I didn't want to... "
She looked at him with teary eyes.
" Really? Can we forget about this?"
" We- I mean sure! Absolutely!" He said relieved, especially when he saw her smiling.
"I'm Andromeda by the way. Andromeda Black!" With all of this he hadn't managed to ask her name! Wait, this name... It was...
" Are you... Hey you're Sirius' cousin! I'm James Potter! Sorry I didn't introduce myself, but with all of this..."
" Nah, it's ok! I usually myself ask people for their name before kissing them!" She laughed and then looked at her watch. " Gosh, it's getting late! I probably gotta go now, but I hope I see you again sometime! Well obviously not like this but... Ok you get it!"
" Totally do! Greetings to Teddy!" He said smiling at his new friend while she slowly vanished into the corridors.

Remus Lupin was really not having it.
He heard Sirius calling his name from somewhere, but didn't answer. He hated ignoring his boyfriend or leaving him behind, especially since he was much faster than him, but right now he had to find Mary.
He was usually a very pale guy, but right now he had a feeling that his cheeks were red like Lily's hair.
How could Mary do this to them? What was she thinking?
After all this searching and planning the perfect date, putting their friends into danger, breaking the rules and risking their own academic success, ten minutes were enough for everything to go down the drain.
He opened the door to a completely chill Mary reading a magazine.
" You little traitor! I hope you're happy!"
She looked at him clearly unbothered, putting the magazine down.
" Rem! You're early, I expected you in about half an hour!"
" You think this is funny? Offering help and then practically destroying everything we did?"
" Hey, darling, relax, you don't know what you're talking about "
" Excuse me? Relax? Try telling this to James! Apparently you made him kiss a total stranger in front of his crush! Not to mention poor Andromeda! She has a boyfriend and... Did you even ask her?"
By now Sirius had caught up with him.
" Moony, wait for me! I just left Lily at Marlene's. And Mary what the heck just happened???"
She rolled her eyes.
" Merlin you two! Why can't you trust the process, I know what I'm doing!"
" You really do? That's why you told us to take Lily there? God you should've seen her face!"
She raised her eyebrows.
" Oh really? Then how did she react?"
" How would she react? Mad? Furious? Grossed out? Embarrassed?"
" Jealous?" She cut him off.
" Huh, why would she..." Wait? What?
Mary sat up and started explaining.
" Just think about it! Why would she be mad or embarrassed? It's not like she caught them on the act, or James is her boyfriend! In fact the Lily I know would be relieved to finally get rid of Prongsie, unless..."
" Unless she has a crush on him!" He finished the sentence. God, this was brilliant!
" That way," she continued, " not only will Lily start thinking about the git, but they won't suspect us either. If it took me a couple of days to figure you out, then it shouldn't take them long too! Now I think we're good " she said, picking up her magazine again.
" As for the kiss, I think both James and your lovely cousin will soon get over it. In fact I bet they'll make good friends!"
Remus looked at Sirius. He couldn't really tell who was more speechless.
" My god McDonald! I think we've underestimated you! Wait a minute, family meeting!"
Mary seemed absolutely horrified now.
" In my bathroom? Not a chance! Sorry Moony, but you'll have to bear my existence!"
" That's actually what I wanted to discuss! Sirius, I think we should really consider letting Miss Mary into our Jily club!"
" I completely agree darling, although you know it's Lames! Miss McDonald has bravely earned her position as a member of our club!"
He looked at a very much satisfied Mary and continued,
" After all, the more the Maryer, right?"

Sooo that was it! I know it's a big plot twist, but our couple is a real enemies to lovers, so I think I can work with that!
